Will Dirty Bomb live on? Doubt it.

Personally I feel like win specific missions should be tied to competitive if it ever gets some work.

Though honestly I think a larger problem is people not knowing how to play this game. You can’t blame matchmaking, it only goes by numbers, it can’t account for everything.

The issue with this is that it will encourage stacking and/or last minute team switching or shuffle votes.
This has also been discussed in other thread. Last minute switching and shuffling should not be possible.

Even today many people tend to join the match right before end just to get daily 500c.

The idea here is to get some recognition for doing well in the match in terms of extra XP or credits.
its impossible to know how far the particular match is, so people definitely don’t join so as to get that daily quickly.

What is more likely are a bunch of ragequits followed by people joining to replace them.

Ain’t that the truth. Seems that most matches end with one side with 6-8 players with “full scores” and the other with 2 - 4 and the rest, if they’re there at all, have <= 1k points

I lost interest in this game a month ago, don’t know why but I guess there’s nothing that could keep me there for too long. Most of the tome I treated this game like “time to do my daily missions”. Now that I have most of the mercs I can’t find any goal in this game anymore.

I’ll admit I had to force myself through your post a bit - you lost me at the dramatic “game is dying” point, but you do have some pretty valid points in there. Players do like to feel rewarded, whether that’s winning, doing well, getting shinies in game, whatever. Sure, the game lets you have the warm and fuzzies from winning, but the loadout system is very poor when it comes to incentives for players. For me, as much as I love cosmetics, the gameplay will always be the reason I keep playing, though.

As for Overwatch, your argument there seems to be that Overwatch is more successful because it’s huge. Dirty Bomb can’t just “get huge” - Blizzard has a massive fan base that would likely play competitive solitaire if Blizz decided to put their spin on the graphics and sell it. People get too hung up on the steamdb graphs and just tunnelvision to their point. If you look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 right now, it lost almost 50% of it’s “players” in the last 2 weeks. Games get hype when they release, much like Dirty Bomb did, and then the player base reduces. I have yet to have a problem finding a game in Dirty Bomb- ever. When that happens, I’ll agree that the game is “dying”. We’ve had more or less the same number of people playing for a while now, but people look at the concurrency graph and freak out. We still pull in something like 180k unique players in a 2 week period - pretty damn healthy sounding to me.

Just the two points that really struck me. Other people have responded (at length) on this and most of the other stuff, but I was reading this on the way home and it stuck out enough that I wanted to reply anyway.

TL;DR

SteamDB is not the Harbinger of Dying Games.

Blizzard could sell cartoon snow to Eskimos.

Bonus point: Pls devs, let me buy cosmetics without playing Loadout Roulette. Pls. :bawling:

it is, but if you do switch few servers you can do it in a short amount of time, if you don’t want to play and just get the credits. For instance I don’t fancy execution, I just get the daily 500c. if you do it every day you can farm nice amounts…just saying

I will say this out of all the shooters right now out Dirty Bomb is still the best.
Counter Strike with their new pattern aiming is dumb. I played the very 1st Counter Strike and liked the way aiming was back then. (Burn out is another factor because I played it for around 3 or 4 years not 1 or 2 hours but 12 hours or more. Yes I am serious. I would enter a cybercafe in the night and come out in the afternoon or evening the next day. Insane shit.)

Black Ops 3 hmmm I haven’t bought it but my Asian friends are not giving it glowing reviews. I’ll need to test.

Insurgency is too like Counter Strike for me to get into it.

Battlefield 3 had way too many hackers on the Asian servers that finally I just quit. Now Battlefield 4 has got so many bad reviews I didn’t pick it up.

Star Wars Battlefront looks like a Battlefield game clone with future tech. From what I’ve seen on twitch it feels very unsatisfying as a shooter.

Team Fortress 2 I love. I have insane game time on it. I still once in awhile play it. (Burn Out is another factor here for quitting.)

Planetside 2 I was 3rd fastest Level 100 (I started a bit late) & number one ranked for the whole of Asia and Ocean Pacific. (It took people 8 months to reach the kill count that I had after I quit). So much Game Design mistakes killed that game. Now I get emails they have fixed it and to please return. Sorry I’m done.

Ballistic. It’s a Facebook browser game. I know you’re going to say WTF. It’s actually quite similar to Dirty Bomb. For a browser game it has very good graphics. I mean really good. It had hackers but they did fix that issue (still some would filter in). I was ranked 1 in the Asian server till the day I left it for Dirty Bomb.

Overwatch will be a game that I will for sure play but have to wait.

Dirty Bomb. So it comes to me playing Dirty Bomb because of the skill required to keep tracking your enemy and killing someone. I like that you have to work for the kill by tracking your enemies because they don’t drop as fast as COD enemies. It has a very satisfying play when I kill someone.

Plants vs. Zombies™ Garden Warfare I never got it but really wanted to try it. Maybe the new one coming out I shall try it.

If you guys know any FPS shooter I might have missed or you think is good or upcoming I should look at please tell me. I will certainly give it a look. Early Access is alright too if the developer is trustworthy.

Omg, I miss Ballistic so much. That game was purely amazing.

This is easy to address. Just require the following:

 1. Minimum 75% time spent on the winning team in a match

 2. Minimum 10 minutes of play time within the winning match

 3. Minimum 15 minutes of total daily play time, discounting matches joined at the 3 minute or less mark

An automatic function could prevent server joins with less than 10 minutes to play, and subsequently 3 minutes so people don’t have to server hop. Once the reward is granted, the function would switch off and allow random joins.
