Will different body types have different gun anims?

(Optical_Fibre) #21

Bombaklak, I’m not sure if you are being rude or if you just have an annoying personality. Probably both. I asked if different body types will have different bob/movements. Not if it will be possible to disable It.

(BomBaKlaK) #22

Sorry if you get it like this !
but for me bob is not very important cause you can disable it and that’s effective for all class so …

For sure you got différent bobs on each body types ! due to the weapon they carry etc …
So the question is … not a very interresting one !

But like I say if I can Disable it (that’s pretty sure !) I’m gonna do this !

(DarkangelUK) #23

If it’s not interesting, then why even bother replying with something that’s totally detached from the question itself? Your answer has no bearing on the question, that means you’d have been as well not replying in the 1st place… and I’m pretty sure he couldn’t give 2 craps if you’re going to disable it or not.
Will the 3 body types hold their weapons differently? Will the heavy have less BOB and a light have more BOB?
This would be a nice touch.
I agree. They should do this.

(LyndonL) #25

Motion sickness? My gf gets it from games like Half Life and Resident Evil 5. It’s a FOV issue. As soon as she increases the FOV she is fine. The bob has no effect on her… but I concede that it may be an issue for others.

And I see it as cheating since without bob you have far less issue aiming (down sights) so it’s an advantage not all players have (if they don’t know about the setting etc)… I suppose hip firing is the same though.

(Auzner) #26

It’s like changing your crosshair color. You figured out an advanced feature so people see that you actually bought the game for purposes outside of socializing and flaunting wealth. Those are the two primary lures for video gamers. By not following their pattern it becomes scary to everyone else. In everyday life most “people who play games (gamers)” cannot relate to me if I ever I discuss video games with them. Most people are satisfied with remembering what genre a title is rather than things like the name of the characters, strategies they developed, or what their favorite moment was.

You’re being rude by not reading your own thread actually. You expect everyone to absolutely know the answer to an unreleased game and then call out other members because he doesn’t fit your culture. If you had read post #9, Bombaklak’s reply was interpreted for you.

It was a disguised PC elitist post which apparently only Bombaklak, H0RSE, .Chris. and I caught. Reading between the lines the post said a lot more than just listing expected command vars. Because the power of the command console for PC means:

 1. Which ever outcome it is can be changed
 2. Either by turning it all off
 3. Or writing a custom toggle script for each type
 4. And if you don’t understand how games have console commands then you haven’t truly bothered to optimize your playing which means you don’t take the game seriously enough.
 5. The fact that this knowledge is scarce lets us feel special about ourselves (elitist)

The reason such attitudes are taken are usually because of the drama outcry involved when someone new notices another player with legally adjusted settings. Rather than inquire about it they will kick and scream about how they’re a cheater or taking the game “too seriously” and everyone should only play like them.

The attitudes are the same on both sides. Since there is low comprehension here I’ve been willing to use the (somewhat) derogatory term “elitist” so that things are better understood. We think everyone should be a PC gamer who has custom scripts, and knows all that stuff. It’s not really a big deal either, but others make it such and feel like it’s elitism. It’s only like upgrading your video card; you do it because you can. While the other side thinks ‘shame on them for studying developer documentation and finding these extras to allow personal preferences.’ If it’s not a pop up description within the GUI it is cheating to them. I say stop making noise about us and stay in the dark if you wish.

(LyndonL) #27

Wow, your whole post STINKS of elitist mate.

Arrogance is not becoming on anyone.

Everyone understood that he was saying that bob could be turned off. The OP wanted to know if BY DEFAULT the bobs were different. Being a smartass about it is not being helpful at all.

(DarkangelUK) #28

It wasn’t exactly subtle, and yes I ‘got it’, but like the snobbery being shown here as well… there’s no need for it, and oh look… another innocent thread has crashed and burned due to ‘elitist’ nonsense. I usually customize my config as I see fit, but i’m not so thin skinned as to make a song and dance when someone voices why they don’t like it. I can understand their POV, especially if it’s options not available in the GUI, but understanding doesn’t mean I agree with it… I’m just not big of a baby to cry about it.

(BomBaKlaK) #29

This is not arrogance as you say !!
it’s a fact ! 85% of the pc players get bob off ! (maybe 99%)
Look at all the web site who speak about autoexec cvar and stuff !!
The wiki speak about autoexe and how to get your bob off !! all the fan site and team forum do the same
how you can customise your HUD etc …
This it like it since quake so …

I’m on the Punk side off the force !!
I really dont care about Elitism

You just dont like this fact that’s all !
maybe your alone to play with the bob as well ! :stuck_out_tongue:
that’s why your so angry ! :stuck_out_tongue:

(.Chris.) #31

I’m pretty sure most games allow you to turn bob off through the menu anyway.

ET:QW did, it’s even on the first page/tab of the game settings:

http://www.battle-of-wolken.co.uk/dump/bob4u.jpg

BomBaKlaK, stop it please.

(BomBaKlaK) #32

I’m out of range !!

(Auzner) #33

The reactions I’m getting were what I expected. I don’t think I belong on internet forums anymore.

Some gamers want everyone to be as casual as they are. And generally are too impatient/lazy/unconcerned to bother with refined configurations. They cannot pin point what it is they’re doing, but they’d rather voice out that it’s everyone else’s problem and that researching a game is a form of cheating. Or that typing a console command is the most unreasonable thing to ask of them for whatever personal issues they have against it.

The other side having freely provided information to reciprocate the customizations is irked by the cloaked incomprehension in the form of refusal. ‘We found these settings, we liked the improvements, here is how it is done, you’re welcome in advance.’ But such free knowledge is rejected because of the effort requirement. So if it helps everyone, then label them as elitist if that’s the only understanding.

I should point out that “elistism” is just a label. You observe the behavior of others and decide. I do not pick and choose labels for myself and declare which ones I am for people. Apparently this is taboo now and it cannot be discussed ever? I miss a lot of social mores as I already stated. I guess when I try to be informative I write too much like a wiki article while siding with myself.

What you all seemed to have read was: “Hi, Brink on PC makes me elite!”
Never mind telling me why you read it like that, only that you know society encourages you to shame me and take a moral high ground. Exactly which parts were nonsense? Where did I use non-English words or purposed misspellings? Which part of my view point is too absurd to make anyone else read? Where exactly have I degraded this thread? What intelligence level do I transmit to where providing me with counter-points would be a waste of time? If no one answers these questions then I’m still ignorant to the fact of why I’m believed to be such a “smart-ass troll”. I’ve already been voted out of a thread in favor of “alchemy” over the “periodic table of elements”.

(Optical_Fibre) #34

Well now we have cleared up the issue, let’s move on. I will re write the question.

Supposing there is no function to set bob to 0, do you think that the different body types will have different amount of bob.?

BTW I personally like to keep bob on. I like to have the semi realism that is produced by the movement of the gun/character. Turning bob off helps get more kills but at a price. Imo.

(BioSnark) #35

yes.
Sorry if you get it like this !
but for me bob is not very important cause you can disable it and that’s effective for all class so …
Let me attempt to explain it to both of you, then.

If you ask a question about multiplayer I will immediately and endlessly spam the thread with pictures like this and tell you to play singleplayer. I will claim I’m doing this because I only play singleplayer and so should you! I will actually do this because I have nothing topically relevant to contribute. Maybe I should address the original topic or let others do so before I derailing it to something I consider more interesting.

Hope that helps.

(LyndonL) #36

Just to clear things up Auzner:

 • I will be playing Brink on PC (personally dislike consoles for FPS) so your comment about assuuming you’re elite for playing on PC is redundant.
 • I know about autoexecs TYVM and use them myself
 • I guess everyone’s “99% of pc players disable bob” comment was regarded to SD games… I assumed you meant all FPS games in which I was perplexed since that’s obviously not so.
 • I also conceded in the first page that disabling bob is only an advantage in aim-down-sight and not hip-fire (I also think I’m incorrectly thinking the OP meant vision bob… but I think he actually meant weapon bob only now?). I would assume SD put the option in there for the comp crowd being as they’re a comp background. My personal opinion is stripping all the flavour (effects) out of a game and making it vanilla (no animations etc) is pointless because then the only difference is the map layouts and the skins - you may as well just port those maps into quake 3 if you’re not interested in innovation.

All else BioSnark summed up quite well.

(.Chris.) #37

You were making good points till here, its a game option nothing more nothing less, if you like it on good for you most people here I guess understand some people don’t mind it (expect for BomBaKlaK) but some people do mind it and will turn it off and in my opinion turning bob off isn’t stripping anything away from the game what so ever. Also I wouldn’t call bob an innovation, it’s been in games for a while now…

(Apples) #38

But I like bob, he’s a friend of mine!

apples grabs popcorn again

Peace

(LyndonL) #39

LoL I like Passive-Aggressive Apples… He’s funny
