Why you slowing Russian version?

(Kinjal) #1

Yesterday the latest patch was installed on Russian severs of DB. As before, it was same as a EU patch with one exception – Characters speed was slow down for 20-30%.

So now we have 2 versions of DB, EU with normal speed and RU with turtle style movement.

Can any1 tell me wtf is going on? There is a 2 different games for a 2 different regions? How is it going to work with cross-region competitive matches? Who is standing behind 30% slowing idea?

(iwound) #2

Can i play that version. this ones too fast for me.

(Finko) #3

But this one too slow, i play it yesterday, all ~same exept speed :<

(Protekt1) #4

I think they explained why one version is being released slower than the other, I don’t remember it though.

(stealth6) #5

Something about movement speed?

Basically this…
First off, sorry for the delayed reply on this. Let me try and address a few of the concerns that have been raised:

Destiny will be operating Dirty Bomb in Russia and CIS. They have a proven track-record of operating free-to-play titles in that region, whereas we don’t, and they have a handle on the local needs and wants. The main goal of Destiny’s alpha is to test their back-end systems and make sure that Dirty Bomb’s integration with them works correctly. Their test is not a free for all – there are limited slots, there’s no guarantee of admission. Our international alpha will continue to be the place where new features and content are let loose as you guys and girls keep shaping the game.

We are also aware of the dangers of completely separating Russian players, especially on the competitive side. We’re hoping to address this, though we don’t yet have any details to share on that.

The contents of any existing Founder’s Packs will carry over to Destiny, so you won’t lose any of the in-game items or your status. Any Russian members of the Founder’s Club are also able to play in the alpha test of the Russian version straight away if they like, though we don’t support having two versions of the game installed simultaneously. You can also keep playing in the international Alpha if that’s what you prefer.

Finally, we’ll be sending a few hundred more invites for our international Closed Alpha over the next couple of days, so you’ll have plenty of additional voices/fresh meat.

If you have any other questions about the Destiny deal, please post them up and we’ll get those answered.
The separate testing there is to mainly test the back end, not the new content. I’d imagine deploying two patches at the same time has something to do with the delay.

how do i do that?

(Seanza) #8

They don’t support it, which probably means they won’t advise you how to do it. I would imagine it has something to do with 2 installation directories though.

(dirtybomber) #9

will be much appreciated if someone pm’s me bout that

(Finko) #10

I am really confused with that last update, i thought it was like EU build, but we have something alternative, and i duno why, lol! When we had asked Cooller why they make different build with slower movement speed, he replied something like “I do all what i want” (rly lol). And we just want to know, is this Destiny initiative, or SD want test this slowpoke feature in our ghetto?

(acQu) #11

Its good. Well, now you all know, its not so good anymore

Imo they wanted to test stuff about movement, Twitch vs Cod-Style (cover-based game?). I find it good. Of course, opinion now gotta be slightly tainted, but i find it good that they do stuff like that. They need to decide more or less for one style in the future; a mixture of everything is not going to work imo.

(Mustang) #12

Well what version number are you on ATM?

(acQu) #13

Could also be that they are just running an older version :stuck_out_tongue: But i would find it great if they tested stuff like twitch vs cover-based turtle movement :d

(Finko) #14

Well, this is our build atm DD_23551_External_PC.

(Nail) #15

we’re on SVN 23549, so looks like a separate build sequence

(Kinjal) #16

I do not understand what they want to achieve with speed reduce. Maps developed under a certain speed, and if i want to play turtle speed FPS i go for BF4 or new COD, Warface and etc.

BTW, why Cooller SD? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtX93wN88XE

(ailmanki) #17

This situation is quite bad, so nexon, destiny, curious who is gona be next.

2 versions of same game, and we are in beta… lol. SD you guys like to shoot in your own foot?

(Seanza) #18

From what I understand, Destiny want the game catered to their audience whilst Nexon are allowing SD to have full creative control. This is just from my understanding, not confirmed by any SD member of staff.

(Kinjal) #19

Oh well and who is the audience of this game then? I dont see why audience in UK is different from audience in Russia. And “Nexon are allowing SD” is a scary thing actualy, this mean they can stop “allowing” in any moment.

(Seiniyta) #20

That doesn’t make any ****ing sense if Splash Damage wants to solve the issue of split playerbase. I’d just recommend all the russian players to play on the international alpha then O.o
