Why would we ever use the m14 over the pdp?

(globalGale) #1

The sniper rifle is literally better in every way then the m14.

The sights arn’t in your way, you get a swanky scope where you can actually see stuff with.

From beyond 30~ish m they both are a 3 shot kill on an aura. The same can be said for most other mercs, they both require the same amount of sttk all with the higher ease of use on the PDP.

The PDP has awful CQC capabilities, the SR is also bad, but you can still win with it.

(globalGale) #3

For how much it blooms, the SR might aswell nog be used for CQC, the time it takes for the bloom to calm down most other weapons are already past their STK+1/2 rounds beyond that

(globalGale) #4

Especially with headshots mixed in, especially with Reds mediocore speed

(Yak) #5

I win quite a few fights in close quarters, land the first shot in the head and it’s game over for your enemy.

(InvaderGir) #6

In my opinion I see the m14 and pdp as weapons for two seperate playstyles as the m14 feels better suited for mid range and the pdp is more long-ish suited. So it really matters what kind of red eye you want to be. Then again I may just be letting my bias for auto-snipers shine through.

(globalGale) #7

That could be said for most weapons either way, And even if its close range “Is better” Just whip out the pistol and you’ll be better at those ranges eithery way

(globalGale) #8

The thing is, the pdp is better at midrange due to it actually allowing you to see anything when ADSING

(globalGale) #9

If they’d just make the m14 sights use the same set of sights the dreiss used, they’d be perfect.

For a long range rifle to not use a dioptre or open sight (Both achieving the fact that the rear sight “Dissapears” from your vision") Is a rather silly thing to do

(InvaderGir) #10

Do both weapons have the same zoom range? Because I usually have an easier time tracking with an M4. Dunno why.

(globalGale) #11

The zoom on the m14 feels higher then the Dreiss atleast, but its hard to judge with that giant rear sight in your face

(InvaderGir) #12

I personally don’t have much of a problem with it. I also find its better for moving around than the pdp so it helps a lot more in mid-range situations.

(globalGale) #13

Lets agree to disagree on that matter then, in my personal opinion the rear ring sights obscure a large portion of your vision. Having your target just outright disapear because it hid behind my rear sights

(titaniumCrouton) #14

I’ve personally never had issue with the sight. I just think the gun kicks too much per-shot.

(Amerika) #15

Initial thoughts on the Grandeur SR is that it’s a bit weird. The sites are weird and I can’t seem to hit heads with it. You have to really find the right cadence with it when shooting to hit and hipfiring it is also wonky. I still need a few hours in to really figure things out but so far I feel as though the Dreiss and PDP are better options.

(globalGale) #16

Could it be that the sights are off then? I’ve had a chat with multiple reds ingame. And they all voiced the same opinions. the gun just feels bad. Not current dreiss path bad. Just counter-intuitive bad

(titaniumCrouton) #17

I agree it feels bad but idk why. and I still rather use this than the other two guns.

it kinda feels like a gimpy sniper rifle. Sure, it can shoot from the hip, but you need to fire it about half as fast as u actually can fire it to actually hit anything after a shot or two, which is ackward. Its easy enough to get off 1 hit, but you need 2-3.

And in ADS, i dunno, the sight seems like its too high so its hard to hit where you aim, and whether its the kick or innaccuracy if firing a few rounds it still feels hard to put down 5-6 accurate rounds even in ADS mode. throw in aim punch and people running after the first hit at range, its frustrating to lock down kills with it.

… sooo, tl;dr: it’s basically a less accurate sniper rifle that does less damage…

it’s damage is 40/80 O_o it’s pretty on par with PDP’s damage unless I am mistaken.

It’s incredible to read that, the M14 is just the god’s weapon!
