why wont hosting work

for some reason when i click host game et crashes, it used to work fine, i reinstalled, and yet i still cannot host, and sometimes when et loads up teh start up screen console says all sorts of things crashed, yet i can play fine, but still cant host a game

You got a bad map is all.

Delete the recent .pk3s you downloaded, and you’ll know which one it was when you can host again.

are you sure, it wont even let me choose a map, it crashes right when i click to option to host a game, it wont goto the host game options screen, cu it crashes

Just goto to your ET main folder and take out your latest maps that way.

A whacked up pk3 will crash your game if you attempt to host. When you click the host game button ET will parse all the pk3 files you have on your system. If one of those is bad it’ll dump you back to desktop.

This doesn’t happen when you join a game since ET will only load the pk3s that the server is using.

Same thing happened to me the other day. Before you go deleting all your maps, try just deleting any custom campaign pk3’s you have. That solved it for me. Just look for pk3’s that are around 1 or 2 kb in size with varying names like “blahblahs10mapcampaign.pk3” and such.

Yeah custom pk3’s did it for me too - only im not sure which one!

Thanks patchouli, I was having the exact same problem, click on Host, and the game would freeze up. Removed all of the .pk3 files from \etmain, and hosting started working again.
