Why whiners stay in this forum; an answer

(.FROST.) #1

You people may ask, why does he keep writing in this forum when Brink is so boring. Well, the answer is, I have more fun in writing in this forum than in actually playing Brink. Not a good sign for a game. I have exactly 150 hours of mp time logged and I can’t play Brink more than every second day, since it becomes boring so quick.

I don’t watch TV at all. Absolutely zero point zero. But I like/need to play a mp fps on a daily basis after work for 1 or 2 hours. But thats simply not possible with Brink. Its so incredible repetative. AvP3 is after 350 hours of mp playtime still the best mp fps for me. Its very well balanced, fast and it still looks good. But after over 300 hours I’ve looked for something new and fresh. And I found Brink.

The reason why there are so many whiners(me included) posting in this forum is, because they were searching for the next evolutional step in fp-shooting. They had high hopes and expectations. And the concept of Brink promised so much potential wich was just wasted.

Brink doesn’t blur the line between SP and MP. It simply has no SP.
That is something that comes next to betrayal since they haven’t even hinted this. If they would have actually blured the line of a traditional SP campaign with MP gaming, that would’ve been a blast. But they actually lied and sold us a mp game with the option of playing solely against bots or bot/human teams.

Sorry, but thats not next gen. The parcour system is good in my opinion and I also like to dress up my “post apocalyptic ken”, but that doesn’t make up for the lack of game modes and the lack of overall diversity in the gameplay. And the AI in this game, especially if you are lvl 20 is so annoying that the first time in my gameplay career I wanted to literally slap one of the devs in the face with my bare hands. Sorry if this sounds rude, but only thinking of the AI brings out all the stored rage wich keeps me from trying to complete this damn be objective 2star challenge and the early launch mission.

They could have stated somewhere that the Brink AI adapts to your rank. And everytime I loose at the shipyard launch site or the 2star be objective challenge I visualize how the devs are laughing their a$$es off over guys like me, not understanding that we the customers have the last laugh.
They certainly don’t understand that frustrating your customers isn’t the best way to sell copies. You need to challenge them, but at one point you have to give them some satisfaction back. If you(SD) are just making fun of them in form of “insanely quick turning and head shooting across the whole map” AI, you will loose.

Thanks for creating the most ridicoulus AI I’ve ever encountert in any console and pc game I’ve ever played.

Brink has still some potential, but SD wasted so much of it that one can only cry by the imagination of what Brink could have been if they’d have done everything right.

Imagine someone presented you with a whole wardrope of everything you’ve allways wanted. And this someone would have told you for years about it. But after he gave it to you, you discover that everything is 3 sizes to small. Wouldn’t you cry. Thats Brink for me.

I’ll keep writing since I can’t stop imagine what Brink could have been. And maybe will be.

You gave your game away troll.

(.FROST.) #3

Wow, you know me huh? Actually I also like flight sims like Falcon AF, DCS-BS, DCS-A10 and infantry sims like ArmA. Aside from sims I consider Mass Effect the best PC !!!Game!!! I’ve played so far. But when it comes to fraggin I like it fast and easy and I don’t want to be forced to do the same thing over and over again.

And one of the reasons why I like AvP is because I love the Alien franchise(not Predator) like nothing else in the whole entertainment industry.

Here 's a picture from Aliens I’ve painted. With real color, no PS. Tell me who’s the troll.

AvP3 was the worst online experience with any game I have ever had on the xbox360, but that’s my opinion, and you are entitled to your unique opinion on it as well.

That’s what I don’t understand about all the people who troll/flame-bait/insult Brink on these forums, they seem incapable of understanding that everyone likes different things, has different opinions on games, and while a ton of people legitimately hate the game, there is the other crowd that likes the game just as much as they hate it.

It seems in every thread that negative posters post on (every thread on this damn forum basically these days), those insulting the game will not even try to see the viewpoints of those who enjoy it, and instead call them fanboys and continue to insult the game. Might I bring up that sometimes these “fanboys” even agree with the negativity spewing posters on points that need fixes, or parts of the game they dislike, and they STILL continue to talk as though SD killed their family and forced them to buy a game they don’t like at gun point, and everyone who thinks differently is just some brainwashed chump that will blindly defend the game to the grave.

(Englander) #5

You like fraggin fast and easy? lol… If I ever see you on a server I’ll let you kill me without trying  Plus when you play a map you will have to do the same objectives over and over they don’t grow new ones :stuck_out_tongue:

(.FROST.) #6

The best thing that can happen to the devs is critique. If everyone is telling them how great they are even though they aren’t even in the top 100 of played games on steam, then they’ll never know what hit them. Sounds convincing, didn’t it?

400 hours of ETQW, 700 (roughly) of ETQWpro.

Still not bored.

(.FROST.) #8

Maybe I should try ETQW.

(tokamak) #9

You really won’t regret it. It’s everything Brink tried to improve.

(Englander) #10

ETQW is just as repetitive as Brink, so if you don’t like doing the same things over and over you won’t like it.

(tokamak) #11

If you can´t appreciate ETQW then you´re disliking Brink for the same misguided reasons. You can play the same 12 QW maps for years on end and still have your mind bubbling with new strategies to try. It´s really that good.

(Englander) #12

I love both games though I’ve played one to total death. I’m just going on what he said on an earlier post.

(razzzty) #13

I stopped reading when u said avp was you fav fps. but on a side note that painting is friggin amazing good job on that sir.

(kronus126) #14

Wait, there is a game out there there isnt repetitive? Really! There is a mpfps game that doesn’t involve you doing the same exact thing every single time you load up the game?!! I must know what this fabled god-of-games is! PLEASE TELL MEEEEEE!!!

(Jess Alon) #15

How is Brink MORE repetitive then games that just track kills to determine the match winners or winner?

Get on. Kill some guys. Get killed respawn kill some guys. Kill some guys die respawn.

When I play Brink and I get killed I need to think through how I’m going to approach the objective or the current chokepoint.

I believe that anyone who calls brink repetitive is playing with bots and has no friends in their friends list to talk to.

brink is very repettitive if u do not have the ability to think tactically. lol i spend time at the command post like i spend time looking in the fridge for a snack. both to better my cause lol

(Jess Alon) #17

I call command posts toy boxes… and I have all the weapons specifically set up for each character’s role depending on the group I play with.

etqw has a skd.
etqw has vehicles.
etqw has large maps.

etqw probably has the same player population as brink currently has.

(.FROST.) #20

I love AvP3 cause its a niche shooter and it has my favorite movie franchise in it. And I admit that it is definitely not a serious shooter. I also like Brink cause its also not your average mp fps. Maybe I just played it too much recently. Certainly
.

Maybe some additional(DLC) sharper textured and eye catching maps like CC could actually satisfy me enough to keep me wanting to play this game.

And maybe its not only the lack of a TDM mode, but the lack of variety of objective modes. E.g. CC, Aquarium, Sec Tower and Resort are basically the same. Terminal and Refuel and Shipyard and Reactor are also very similar.
