LOL, nah, I played an Aura. A fragger asked me to re-place a healing totem to a better place which I did in game. The fragger died and I tried to ress him and got myself killed. He wasn’t that far off but I got caught on the wall. In my defense, he should have just pressed K, if he didn’t want to be ressed in the line of fire. I assume he was going to complain no one was going to ress him. Wasn’t the smartest thing I did but I did ok after that and I think? we won? After the match ended, they proceeded to shit talk.

I don’t play vassili at all and don’t even have him unlocked. I accepted it since that’s how online gaming going to be, but I just don’t care to want to deal or argue with angsty people who like to instantly shit talk on a few mistakes a person did. That’s one problem, I think, there with comp, you get folks who fly off the handle over good or bad players. If one guy is good, they call him a cheater, if he’s making some mistakes, they complain how bad they are for their level. That’s just how it is. It’s black or white. It’s either people are really good or really bad.

It’s not the case for everyone but it is for me. I still play but I don’t I want to deal with the stress of dealing with angry people who are on vendettas against people not of their skill level. I get the whole-bad players and it’s frustrating-thing. I get frustrated too. Best I can do is just play in public rooms and watch videos. That takes time. Basically, I’m not really going to touch it knowing I’m doing bad for my level.

Kinda not really related to comp since it took place in a min 10 room but if these are the kind of comp players dominating the scene, I’m not really surprised if anyone new comes in and turns around. The pros just get frustrated with people not on par, shit on them, newbs back off and stay in pub rooms. Just my two cents. Grains of salt, pretty much.

I do agree raising the level requirement for comp.

I hate those who try to kick someone in pubs because he supposedly is “low skilled”. It’s not that all people are dicks, though :slight_smile: Most players don’t rage, but those who do are sadly louder than the rest. Just ignore them. Majority of those are people without any good skills and they are trying to compensate for that. Have that in mind.

Unfortunately, the guy who was shitting on me hard was a really good player. My friend who does team comp used to be teammate with him. That’s what made it pretty meh in experience. Thing was, everyone else in the room just went along with it. Everyone then thought I was just. bad. No one is going to challenge a guy whose actually really good. I do agree with ‘get gud’ but it takes time and a good computer set up.

Honestly, I’ve observed a few clans who do team comp…don’t really let anyone whose ‘not as good’ to do any competitive matches with their main team. People will have a tag but some will never be invited to a scrimmage. I’m guessing that’s whats going on sometimes. Like omega said, there’s probably a lack of community and no one wants to bother with each other. My friend used to be a pretty mean-spirited comp player as well but when I sat him down and explained why I didn’t want to do comp anymore, he started to notice why sometimes there wouldn’t be any practice matches for comp. There’s some drama going on or lack of people to play with because animosity. This is in a niche in comp though. A lot of this crap can’t be controlled by the devs.

My friend suggests this game just needs as much advertisement and hype as Overwatch so it does attract more competitive players to actually sit down and play this more. Also, more special COSTUMES, not skins would probably motivate people to compete for a special costume loadout?

Just based on old posts, why not just make unranked 5v5 friendly fire enabled rooms more readily available in the pubs? I figure the more exposed people are to the settings, the more inclined they are to see ranked as something doable. Don’t you usually need a password for those special rooms anyways?

The problem I see with ranked is that it doesnt even remotely satisfy that, what SD conditioned us to want: Credits and Cases. Such a huge part of the playerbase has been conditioned to get a load out in cobald or in gold swiss that it is sometimes more important to them to have their mercs in a shiny color instead of just a plain bronze card but with perks that really help them.

Pub games are just way more profitable. The chances to get 3 missions that you can do in a ranked game are so slim. In the worst case scenario it is execution/obj + a merc you would never play in ranked + e.g. game mode and you suck with engineers.

So you have to finish this plus your dailies until you are kind of free to play ranked.
There is no comparison credit wise in playing missions in pub and playing ranked with the lousy +50% credits and 5 - 10 mins waiting time.

For this playersbase getting loadouts and credits will always have a priority over actually getting good. So to get them play ranked you have to reward them with what they want. And to get them play better, you have to reward them for improving. Here are some ideas:

-For each person in your lobby you get +25% credits similiar to the system in Diablo 3 (full team of 5 means double the credits) (additional to the already raised 50%)

-Increased drop chance for a case due to victory, surpassing a certain combat/support/game mode threshold

-Every 10 wins you get a case with a minimum guarantee of iron.

Ranked must become the go to mode, when you want to farm credits and cases.

At the same time it must be clear, that if you start with a game, you are committed to it and there should be hard penalties for dropping early/ team killing / or being kicked by your team. These penalties should include not beeing able to play (no matter which game mode) and a penalty fee (deduction of credits). And the system should remember your fuck ups. For example. You drop early from a game. You get banned for lets say 30 mins. When you drop again within lets say a week, you get banned for twice the amount of time and the time resets. So either you stay away for a week from ranked or you play again and if you screw up again it will be 90 mins ban.

Personally, I don’t feel that adding incentives to play competitive will solve the problem alone. - I don’t play the game for getting more cards or mercs. Playing for the game play is enough.

Playing in competitive seems daunting at times. I’m aware I’m not an amazing player: or even good outside pubs. It’s not a matter of teamwork: I can do call outs fine, but my aim isn’t enough to compete with players of level 50 and higher. I haven’t built the muscle memory.

The worry of running into high-skill players mean that I’d be a burden to my own team. Even if it may not be true, I’d rather not risk being the cause of a loss.
(Yes, I know I’m part of the problem.)

I didnt say that everybody is playing for cards/mercs/credits. But a lot of people do. And if you want to get those people to play ranked, they need to have an advantage in reaching their goals by playing ranked.

Giving more credits and cases for playing Ranked won’t work. Getting more for playing Ranked already doesn’t work, and it didn’t in the past. Besides, that puts a ceiling on replayability. Once you get all the credits and cards you want, why keep playing?

Easiest fix is only 3 non-execution choices, removing all OBJ and SW 6v6, 7v7, and 8v8 choices.

  1. OBJ 5v5 max lvl 10: teaches players the maps, objs, and the concept of how the mercs play. Lengthly inability to queue with higher lvls to keep games better balanced and hopefully lessen the amount of smurfs in play.

  2. Stopwatch 5v5 min lvl 10: After learning through 10 lvls of quick OBJ matches players are ready to queue for, the longer and more competitive, Stopwatch game modes. (maybe decrease match time length to compensate for people who have time restraints and used to only queue for OBJ)

  3. Ranked Stopwatch 5v5 min lvl 15: nuff said

Edit: or force everyone to only play ranked. After the dust settles and everyone is placed in their skill level, ranked should feel better. :stuck_out_tongue:

What if ranked gave you a different currency, if you played a min # of ranked games every week, based off your ranked lvl? Like arenas in WoW? SD would just have to figure out what we would spend it on.

Easy, it’s game cash. You can buy anything in the store that cash could buy, you just can’t redeem it for actual cash. EX: You could buy cases with it.

You could also give exclusive discounts on stuff, discounts that you can only get with Ranked credits.

Zero reason, trinkets just don’t do it honestly. You’d need proper cosmetic rewards and such instead, hard to obtain stuff. Which is why they need to split the loadout and cosmetic systems, because they’re holding back a lot of potential.

Just got done with a ranked match, placed into silver 2. Anyone understand how teams are balanced? I was the only ranked person on my team vs 2 golds and 3 silvers. My best teammate managed a 0.5 k/d playing Nader and had 2 members go 3/27 and 8/27 at the half. I am not ranked high enough nor play well enough to justify that team balance!

Sure everyone could be in the match, but ranks should be distributed evenly. At this rate I’m gonna need to borrow some luck to get back to at least the rank I was last season.
