Why Not Add Weapon Attachments?

Dirty Bomb so far has proven to be a very diverse first person shooter when it comes to classes but one thing it seems to miss is the customization of weapons. This adds more strategical play and focus to the game and there are also some benefits to it. To get weapon attachments players must buy it with the same money they use to buy mercs.

  1. Players will want to play more to earn more money to get better attachments.
  2. Players will be able to adjust guns to their specific liking
  3. More strategical play.

So far I see a couple of good attachments, with of course some good drawbacks :).

Silencer - Do not appear when shooting, but decreases range of the weapon
Red Dot Sights - Clearer vision while ADS, but longer time to ADS
Grip - Less recoil, but more aimpunch
Rapid Fire - Faster fire rate but less recoil control.
Extended Mags - More bullets in a mag, but longer reload

What do you guys think?

Could they add more guns?

Maybe, but attachments isn’t what this game is about, sorry.

No sorry, it will make the game alot harder to balance.

I will give you a example, ever played Blacklight Retribution?

Fun game you can customize your gun however you want, sight, barrel, magazine, stock, receiver, muzzle, etc.
The problem that showed up though? There was only one build everyone was using because it was the best. All the customizing you could do in that game but everyone uses the same build…

Well, to be fair, it was because the balance in that game was shit.

I mean, let’s be honest, you had the Assault Rifle, and a bunch of other guns similar but arguably worse than it. Tactical SMG, with little no customization on it. LMG that was arguably unusable, and so on and so forth.

Plus, the kill time was way faster in that game than in Dirty Bomb, so you had a real hard time seeing if your gun had any actual effect or differences made in game.

As far as Dirty Bomb goes, it’d be cool if a game that combined elements of both existed, but Dirty Bomb is very simple, it doesn’t need a lot.

skins are more likely (rust, dirt, gaff tape, bandages, string/rope that sort) than attachments that people would want to modify stats like fore grip giving stability, longer barrels upping accuracy etc, but I’m almost positive there will be something

No get real. The weapons in my opinion in dirty bomb are well balanced, I don’t have a problem with any.

Also there is no wrong or right attachments.
It’s about preference when it comes it or what’s best on a gun.

this is because a FPS like DB lives or dies on its balance. the more variables u add in the tougher that gets

I would definetly like pistols with silencers added to the game. But silencers added to any pistol you like? Definetly a nogo if you ask me.

Don’t get me wrong, I love to customize stuff. But if I want a QWET knockoff with customization I go play Brink. Yes I own that game. Yes it’s bad. It’s playable though and not as bad as a certain Joe claimed it to be.

I don’t really care what happens, I wouldn’t mind. But keep in mind that this game is mostly focused on being balanced and fast paced and not pay2win, as well as having players using hitfire, making it even more fast paced.

Loadout is a prime example of failed gun balance. Over 1 billion combinations? That’s cool, I am just gonna use my hit scan rifle.

And attachments would be fine, as long as they’re balanced, though I personally wouldn’t want them. Open your mind a little, quite a few things would be fine as long as they stay balanced, which I know is very hard.
But maybe ages down the line some cosmetic items would be added.

I wouldn’t be down for advantages earned with attachments, but being able to personalize your gun like brink, that didn’t give it performance would be really fun.

-20% weapon dmg, slightly muzzled shooting sound, reduced flash, inability to pinpoint gun location by sound
Not usable by revolvers.

Scopes - SMG/SG
Red dot, reflex sights, magnifications x1 and x1.5
Scopes AR/LMG
All of the above, plus telescopic scopes with magnification up to x4(x2 to x3.5; x4 reserved for semi and burst ARs)
Scopes SR
All of the above, starting with x2. Variations: x2 to x12, fixed. Adjustable scopes, from x3 to x12.
Small magnification scopes have no penalties, starting with x2 and up increase weapon and aim ready time, up to doubling it with adjustable high magnification scopes.

Clips/mags
Extended mag - +30% mag, +30% weapon ready and reload time.
Double mag - -20% weapon reload, +50% weapon ready time, extra weapon ammo clip.
C-Mag - AR only, 100 rounds, 250% reload time, +30% ready time, -5% movement speed, extra max ammo.

Ammo bandolier.
Not a weapon mod per se, but from same category.
+50% more max ammo, -10% movement speed.
+100% more max ammo, -20% movement speed.

Ability to select various reticles for scopes.

That’s a folder with attachments in it. Not sure if everything in it is an attachment - there’s stuff like magazines that could well just be models used for reload animations - but scopes, silencers and red dot sights are definitely attachments. It’s very likely that there will be attachments.

Personally I dislike attachments that modify the way a gun performs, but I hope they add a variety of different sights (not awful ones like the Blishlok’s though) and maybe some little cosmetic changes (like the little coloured string on the Empire-9).

prob a leave over from brink - that will stay in failed brink - there will be no attachments

totally different game and engine, there WERE attachments intended early on in Alpha for DB, but then we had no loadout cards, leveling up gave you diff weapons and availability for attachments, but that was changed/removed

actually I’m not sorry to rain on your parade, if you look you’ll see xbox controller stuff as well, that’s out for now too

use facts instead of conjecture, there’s tons of stuff lying around from old iterations, likely to be cleaned up with final release which is probably going to be full game download/overwrite
