Why Not Add Weapon Attachments?

(watsyurdeal) #21

Just because it’s there doesn’t mean it’ll happen, it’s called leftovers from development.

They probably wanted to do another Brink, or something similar, then decided it was best to go back to much simpler roots. I don’t think we’ll see anything but reskins honestly.

there’s a shed load of stuff left over from earlier iterations, we’ve been playing since beginning of 2013

(misspo) #23

I don’t want to see perk/attachement… At least every one got the same weapon.
I really hate all these perks stuff

I still find it hilarious that DB uses the default UE3 dev kits default directory structure and file naming scheme. I do love me some ShooterGame though.

The game is on a complete different engine compared to brink now they could have converted stuff over, but if you look at portfolio pictures of some of the 3D modeler guys, you will see renders of the weapons with different sights. Also every primary weapon has a picatinny rail in a location for sights, even if the gun itself uses the standard ironsight.

Now that doesn’t necessarily mean that attachments are coming. But at one point SD clearly cared enough about attachments, that they modeled them and programmed a system to use attachments. Maybe it was part of a more realistic iteration of DB and they scrapped that. On the other hand it is a f2p title and somehow they have to make money. Game can’t survive on different camo loadouts forever.

As for the folder, quite a few of the default sights are actualy attachments. If you use that console command to test out weapons, they will often not have the respective scope/sight or stack the current sight on top of the old one.

See how i started my post with that word “prob”? it means “probably” mate

i said brink u said early iterations of this game - same idea. old settings for old game no longer in this one. thanks for clearing it up tho my old chummer

I would love to see this happen (300 hours in db). I have always been a fan of modding weapons.

(GildedDark) #28

It be nice if u unlock different sights rather than performance changing attachments. Like the first sight u get would be ur standard reflex sight after say 50 kills with a gun, then at 150 kills u get a holo sight

(Nail) #29

there will probably be gun options fairly soon, but they will cosmetic only, different colour reflex dot, different crosshairs etc, most likely buyable with C rather than leveling up

(GildedDark) #30

@nail werent weapon tags mentioned at one point?

(Nail) #31

yes, Founders get them but I didn’t know if tags were exclusive or just founders tags were exclusive so I didn’t want to mention them and go through the whole spiel we did with Founder’s Obsidians

(GildedDark) #32

@nail XD well I mentioned it for u XD

(Nail) #33

clan patches for uniforms/hats would also be a good add on as well as personalized something for non clansmen

(GildedDark) #34

Yea that would be nice, It’d be cool if they had a system similar to Warfaces where doing x would get the x piece

(Nail) #35

more likely for sale rather than as a reward

(Sussepus) #36

please just no.
this will only lead to 1)people only playing to unlock attachments and 2)balance will never be correct.
Any one who have played battlefield franchise knows this. the more unlocks they put into the games the more it turned into solofield. and everything change everytime they patch because they didnt get it right last patch.

Playing DB with weapons with no modify options is simply heaven compared to the mess called bf4. If any modifying should be implemented it could be the option to create your own loadout cards within a certain ruleset. but thats it. attachements just makes a pure mess out of it all.

(insightfulHelicopter) #37

If augment like “+10% aoe” or “-20% reload time” doesn’t ruin balance, I don’t see what would be the problem with attachements, especially if they have up and down, like +power but -accuracy

(ThiagoScalax) #38

i don’t see nothing wrong with some scope options.

Warface have a really good attachments balance imo
