Why isn't the game free to play or something?

Seriously, the game exists for almost 7 years now, it’s completely inactive (at least from what I saw few mins ago, only 8 players in a server)

I remember playing it when it was really active (50+ full servers) and I always had fun, also played around a year ago with around 5 active servers.

Making it free to play on Steam would effectively increase the amount of players playing.
Problem is that it will be filled with noobs or hackers =
but at least you won’t play against bots or something, also you can always take those players into a private lesson

If I am not wrong ET:QW had it’s PB support removed 2 years ago, is there a replacement?

I am so sad to see this kind of good game dying, also one of my favorite game SWAT4 is dying because it had it’s master server removed (no server list)
It’s pretty painful for the gamer inside me.

Because producers are greedy?

Atleast 2 full servers every night.

At least 1 server full every night. QW has become a really select game where only beautiful people can enter during big nights.

Surprise, surprise!

For what purpose?

We have this already, except the latter not so after the demo players got busted.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure it will come very soon! The anti-cheat system in QW has never been more important than now.

IP issues, lack of [free]manpower, expenses of supporting stats backend and payment to Evenbalance[PB creators/maintainers]support/updates and etc and etc.
but maybe SD and ZM reconsider it later - for example during ETQW2 launch they may offer ETQW1[box&key] as free demo )

p.s.
kinda miss glorious/funny days of massive ETQW online, personally, especially yearly ones.
broken several mices, keyboards during gaming ETQW online, drinked about 600l[appx. didn’t count exactly]of coffee, playing it with friends, broke two ETQW boxes and get/buyed/send some for gifting, bough t-shirt and poster[both made by fans for fans] =)

honestly i wish that the source code of ETQW would be released but now that J.C. left id Soft, we won’t see that happening. if SD was to help us it would be a patch that allow custom maps to be added to “ranked” server without the need of mods, also many bug fixes are needed and i think that the aim box must to be removed from client side to server side in order to avoid the auto aim cheaters.

woot? o.O …

It’s cool that the game is still not free now, it kinda make it for elite people who really interested, etqw lovers, foodies if you will.
Imagine if it is free lot of noobies, raged retarded kids joined on server. Nowdays etqw is tiny, sweet, homie community that should be semi-closed community that attract people who share their class based team coordinated gameplay style, objective whores, tdm gods, die but save objective or revive temamate - that the core of etqw.

Concerning the issue why game still not free or whatever, i think people who own game (not developers), media rich bitches dont need this game, they need profit on new noobs, they need new BF every year more suited for average gamers.

source codes ? thats ain’t gonna happen.
atlest with publishers and IP holders, located in NA
[nor in other regions, tormented by [sily]“british law/justice system” everyday].
maybe later ? five years later ? nor 7-8 ? when it became irrelevant/useless for both owners and players.

moving ab server-side - was done on/in some online gaming product. or atleast attempts to.
thats kinda resource-intentside in terms of network bandwitch/latency. which is kinda not issue nodays, when nearly anyone had 20Mbps uplink or above[3/4 on my friends and co-workers had 250Mbps to 1Gbps ISP subscriptions/uplinks].
so its about time. two-three years, probably ?[when servers itself can handle this too]
