Why I returned brink: an FYI to splash damage
The issue is that it shouldn’t be up to the consumer to have to setup a match by manually inviting friends, what sort of FPS game would do that? Sometimes I just want to play a match instead of hassling about in my friends list.
You also need to take into account that, some people don’t want to add random people just to get into a game.

Anyway, by now people have probably told their friends that the game sucks.
:penguin:
It automatically places you in your friend’s match and in their fire team. It automatically does it…

Lol youre a piece of work, you just have excuses and come back at me for actually having fun because you cant have any. Jealous much… Seriously i doubt you play with 80 people on the reg every week, if so why arent you on the boards for those other games you play with all these people all the time and instead here complaining like a girl about the same thing day after day after day.
Besides that still leaves 20 spots open for Brink players if you really wanted to play with people that is. Personally I removed some old online friends because they couldnt move on from the few games they ever actually play and bash everything else without ever giving it a decent shot (much like alot of your friends) and added new Brink friends, I liek to have friends on my list who play a wide variety of games and not just the same 1-3 games every day, every week, every month, every seqeul or year.

I mean honestly i feel like SD got the message with the 50 other threads about lobbies and fixing matachmaking not to mention all the other broken records liek yourself that feel the need to remind all of us about it in every single thread becuase SD sure as hell knows and its working on it. So please again unless your willing to work around it until there is a fix please kindly STFU or GTFO becuase we as a board dont need to read your complaining about the same subject daily. And honestly just giving your attidue you have shown thus far along with you responses to those who give you suggestions its not a surprise no one will play with you on Brink, your just a sour puss raging hater. But oh wait no I have fun on the game with friends so i am an auto Fanboy, I need to be in disgust or hate the game for all its worth and complain 24/7 on the boards to be a real gamer, right?

And honestly form those i have met online from here, most have been more then welcome addition as they are for the most part all mic using good teamates who play to win and just happen to also have the same taste in games, a large number came from games i also played alot like BFBC2 and MAG.

Because the TRUTH hurts and is needed as source of reference and point for remedial action.
There were alot of expectations unfulfilled and we need to show the publisher some notice of these facts.

(Swimmy) #44

So basically your logic is… If you want a full game invite people off your friends list. I can join random matches on COD, BFBC,etc and get into full games without inviting people. Way to go in reaffirming his point.

(Floris) #45

Doesn’t the game have a server browser on consoles?

(fearlessfox) #46

I love some people’s suggestions that, somehow, the lack of a decent matchmaking system is actually not a problem and that it’s our fault for having not enough friends…

Two weeks ago I had 25 people on my FL that were there for Brink exclusively. As of now, all but 8 of them hadn’t logged in more than a couple of times since I added them.

Half of the remaining are too far for the p2p system to not cause problems and for the timezone difference to not be utterly conflicting, and the rest log in for a little bit with me each day only to log out half an hour later when we’re tired of playing 3v2 for the xth time.

Aside from the fact that pub matches and friendly set-up games are entirely different aspects of online gaming and should be available to both in the context, it shouldn’t be up to us to arrange a match every time we want to play.

Consoles have no matchmaking nor browser systems.

What happened with your friend and his xbox he was gonna lend you? Any news? Xbox is hopping in Brink. I get a ton of party and game invites. Me so popular. Any luck on getting in a full match yet? Big Team?

(Rockhound) #48

This!

The PvE/MP or whatever you want to call it doesnt work how it should work in a propper FPS/MP. At least i will repeat myself, Consoles are not done to be used as servers for hosting multiple players from different countries and thats just why the MP on PS3 and Xbox won`t work.

Another fact is i don`t wanna have like 100 people on my friendlist to get a game started, this is absolutly ridiculous.

I’ve just spent the last 3 hours in multiple full games on 360, barely added friends from the game, just preferred people that are worth playing with/against, and they only crop up once in a while. Even if i hit up a big team and it is 3v2 or whatever, I stick it out and within 10 minutes it’s magically an 8v8, I wonder why??? Because if you stay in a room IT WILL FILL UP!
I feel like I’m droning on saying this but I have lost count of the amount of idiots that will give a room 30 seconds and then bail, see them rejoin a minute late with their shiny green ping and quit again, probably only to moan about all of the empty games ‘plaguing’ this game.

The bots aren’t that bad either, I have had multiple human teammates I would gladly trade for bots in almost every game played in, guys that grab the avionics/fluid/case and then freaking camp! Admittedly, some sort of autobalance around fireteams would be the holy grail but I don’t see the big deal. If you hate it that bad, go play the competition playlist or oldskool or whatever.

Shout it to the roof tops, brother. There are people playing this game. Some people who bought Brink get lost in the menus, though.

(Herandar) #51

Distance is irrelevant. That is your preconception affecting your experience. I played a couple of completely lag-free games with member ESuns the first few days the game was out. He was hosting in Japan. I am in Florida, and our squadmates were from all over Canada. This was pre-patch, and the game was buttery smooth after the first 30 seconds.

If distance was a factor, my game should have been totally impossible.

I played with two German guys last week and I live on the East Coast and another guy who lives in Florida, and it was fine.

Seems to me, someone was over confident in SD ability to make a console game… their roots are in PC

glad and somewhat sad, console are feeling the same ‘lack’ of substance in their version as the PC community is… looks like SD could have used some input from the console community, or listened to them…

I can only imagine if Brink mirrored W:ET/ETQW for PC (see the sticky Brink:PC for more details), the game would be Epic and very popular… difficult finding a match, the very few active servers
are full or have reserved slots…

remember the early days on ETQW, sitting and waiting to connect to a server for long periods of time, just waiting for a open slot… had no choice back then, all the servers were FULL!.. with BRink, there just-- empty :frowning:

(StillBatusBrad) #54

This + the ‘invite to fireteam’ option from the scoreboard = epic win. (360)

Start mission with you plus bots and play on. Whenever a human appears, instantly ping them a fireteam invite and play on. Soime won’t respond, but desperate to play with people, most will. Rinse and repeat. On Sunday, Camaign set on Co-Op, I ended up playing through both campaigns with 8 of us versus Bots. Best day’s online player ever, and no need to faff around with invites and friends and whatever, we just waited until one by one we had to leave, fired each other friends invites after the game. Had a brilliant day’s play and levelled up my new char like no-one’s business!

(AZTEC-SJSU) #55

Finally got 5 vs. 5 today… Would be nice if I wasn’t the only one on the squad with a mic…

Here’s the problem with Oschino’s suggestion:
There are about 16 campaigns of coop play in which to search for people plus 2 rank settings each AND (guessing) 4 competition (i.e. Old School & advanced) lobby’s with 2 rank settings as well. Most people don’t open their rank settings to “my rank or higher” and thus I can’t join them. So I’m left searching 20 different rooms to find enough players and then factor in 2 to 4 minutes of load time for each search where I am not the only human player.

So the issue is not just adding friends… But friends who will adjust their room settings And have similar RANK to you… Which puts you in even more of a mess as you progress even more???
Also, how many times have you ignored friend invites while in a good match as well???

(peteXnasty) #56

Regardless how well the system works or how poorly is doesn’t work for everyone, I hope we can agree the system itself just completely sucks and manages to alienate players. Thaw threads are a perfect example.

(Oschino1907) #57

Wow i guess everything just flys over your head or you just look at one single comment out of the many upon many i have made to the person and took it the way you wanted to take it.

My point is WE ALL KNOW about the problems and thinks its crap there wasnt better matchmaking or a lobby system, I dont think a single person here thinks the way it is now is good at all and can all agree a fix is needed.

But having said that there is a group of people on here you have been repeating these same things day after day after day after day in thread after thread after thread after thread since release. I think its pretty obvious that the Devs at SD got the message day 1 when all the complaints started and surely after the first week or two with the endless threads and comments in every thread even those not even pertaining to the subject.

It gets really old and tiresome to see the same exact bitchin and moaning day after day, its just cry cry whine whine and its like they want a personal written letter of notice from the Devs just to calm their nerves. I and many other accepted the crap and pushed on hoping to work around it until a fix comes out or we get news about when a fix is comming.
We all put in a little extra effort to network and get together and on PS3 have games going often and every afternoon/night with open chats to get people together and start games up. We have a decent group of networked friends and even knowing just 1-2 key people can unlock dozens of others to play with.
Now we come on here as its where many of us know each other and we try to let others know we are getting games together and attempt to pass along tips to help others or invite them to play with us (which many have joined in) and yet there is still a core group along with their many groupies that continue to whine and complain still about not being able to do the exact things WE ARE DOING and trying to help others also do.

So please next time before you say something retarded in an attempt to talk someone else down please know exactly what it is you are talking about and dont just blindly take sides.

There is no problem with my suggestion, WE ONLINE “FRIENDS” have chats and send messages to make sure the highest ranking people start the games so that way all can join, Yes another minor problem but one that can be worked around with ease. Got another Brain Buster for me?

And WTF are you talking about at the end of the last paragraph?

Totally agree with everything you said. Some of these gamers don’t realize they are adding to the problem by bailing out so quckly, like you said if you have a little patience the rooms do fill up. (I’m referring to Big Team rooms)

I’m glad you pointed out that the Bots are not THAT bad. More than a few times I have sworn that I was working with a real person only to find out it was a bot. I mean some of these bots act very human at times. A few of my friends admitted to being fooled by bots. Shouldn’t Splash Damage be praised a little bit for this realistic behavior? The Bots are not always perfect, but they’re not that bad. Also, I’ve been in games where 6 out of the 8 players are human but guess who is buffing me? The Bots! Meanwhile the real players were too busy being Rambo and needless to say we lost. :stroggtapir:

Agree with all points, But apparently to everyone else we are just Fanboys becuase we found a way to have fun with the game while they spent there time being angry and pissed off.
