Why do YOU buy Brink?

Hm I bought it, because its a pseudo fortress game and I love fortress games, but TF2 is too slow ass for my taste, and also because the fast pace and cool movement stuff and the uber customization thats awsome.

(Gogeku) #23

Because it looks promising.

I have absolutely NO IDEA about what “OHKs” means.

Just look at the video, and admit it, BRINK is much much slower than it should be to be classed inside the “face paced trololol shooters” category.

… For my Faja???.. For The God Emperor???
Is this a trick question?

OHK is one hit kills. watch this video from 0:30 to 0:40 http://www.brinkthegame.com/media/videos/?id=3

character movement can be fairly quick, as shown in that video, but the top speed of characters is not the only factor in a fast paced game. you look at most realistic shooters and they have a hardcore mode and in the hardcore mode, the pacing is typically much slower then the regular mode because it discourages aggressive play because of how little it takes to die. With the larger amount of hits it takes to kill someone, people will probably play more aggressive. SD designing the maps to be quite small also contributes to a fast pacing. and i never said this is one of the faster shooters out there… it appears it is a relatively fast paced shooter though.

Can we let down the “pace” here, I think he was just talking about the general speed of the game, etqw was gud, now it’ll be too slow IMO. The point of a fast game is that it connects with your reflexes more than your brain, all “magical” shot are done without the need to think of it, its just “like that” and thats what I love in rapid game, I guess i’ll try to adapt but if its too slow I know I wont like it.

lets get back to topic nao, cuz the speed of the game has been discussed many times, you can hop on #sd chan and say “brink is slow” tho, its funny

Peace

I’ll buy it because it looks to be an interesting game, made by a developer that makes games I like

Could be worse, he could base his opinion on 1 dev walk through vid and say that

Just the fact that it’s made by Splash Damage instantly got me interested, because they are awesome and have
a sense of humor which shows in their games in subtle ways and that is important to me.
I also do not like realistic MP FPS’ses, so the Arc concept and the kind off unrealistic models definitely won me over.
Customization is very nice too.

I already know there is a 55% chance that Brinks pace will turn out to be too slow for me
and I will lose interest within 3 months or less.
I will still buy it because I want to experience it nontheless.

Ps: ETQW is an awesome, awesome game! :oppressor:

(Kinjal) #31

Coz I don’t have enough money to buy ferrari

(Apples) #32

I have to re…sist… arghhhhhhhh

AlltehvidIveseenaresamespeedandIfindittooslow!

oh gosh, sorry bout that! I came, and it was dirty…

Peace

there’s always the possibility of community made maps where they are designed to be faster pace, they might even give server admins control over things such as spawn rate to make the game faster pace… when you say the game is too slow are you purely talking about run speed?

(AnthonyDa) #34

Sure changing the “spawn rate” definitively makes the game “faster pace”, as true as woflpro saved this game.

(JJkul) #35

I love multiplayer shooters, and I love teamwork. And this just looks bloody awesome.

(Senyin) #36

For me it’s indeed purely movement speed when I say “too slow”.
I can’t stand unwieldy playermodels with snailspeed.

(Paul) #37

I’m buying it because splashdamage developed the game

the only problem i would have is if the movement is so slow, aiming is relatively easy, and it becomes an angles game instead of a shooting game… but i hope that if it was so slow that, that was the case, then playing with a grenade launcher would make shooting skill more important, slower projectile speed meaning harder to aim well and i would just play with that.

(.Chris.) #39

We didn’t change the spawn rate just unrandomised it, we did change the player speed slightly though, we first tried W:ET speed and it was just too much for the small maps, the speed shown in the brink trailers may just be fine for this game and its’ map sizes who knows? As some news guy once said “only time will tell…”

Anyway we saved the game for a whole a week, I think that was pretty amazing achievement considering.
