We all know what the prob is man. Now, we need to give our support so we aren’t part of the reason no one plays it.
Why Brink for PC failed-
The majority of players capable of getting their crosshairs even near the opponent has left the game due to the exact problem you described. The reason the same people appear to be dominant in consecutive matches is because the other players, quite frankly, just are that bad.
these things were said about 2 months ago, after the first hours of playing, by a lot of players
then someone created the term “haters”
Yeh, I seriously think that people should get over it. Let it improve! Don’t keep listing the problems that are obvious…
Its like you’re crying for the game to get back up yet you’re kicking it while its down. Does that really make any sense!?

By telling the developers what went wrong, they can improve it. If you’d hand in a school paper, and the teacher would just tell you it sucked, would you know how to write a better one?
My point is they knew what the problem was way before this thread. Its late man. Now, its time to let it improve. If this constant complaining is going on then it won’t improve. That’s one of the biggest reasons why the game lacks players:
-
bad reviews
-
people telling there friends it sucks
So, let’s drop threads like these…and let it improve. Ya know?

So what do 1 and 2 have in common? The quality of the game.
If it’s too late in the day to complain, it’s also too late to expect improvements. A large chunk of the player-base has already moved away. When the DLC lands, the count will probably increase but most likely; only on a temporary basis.
Why spend money on improvements for a headcount that isn’t there? Splash Damage need to chalk it up to experience and build a PC version that’s PC centric next time.
Its never too late for something to get better. Its just that you don’t want it to get better. You’d rather watch it fail, so you can laugh at it. What you don’t realize is that you’re really the fool to be laughed at once PC version fails cuz you bought. So, saying Brink fails means you fail. With that, these problems have already been stated, everyone knows, shut up, you bought it, get over it, support it so at least you won’t totally fail, it’ll get better, if you don’t like it then sell it, duh duh duh, so on, so on, so on…
The trouble is we don’t know if it’s going to improve. The DLC isn’t going to address the key points that have led to the game failing, and although they’ve mentioned they’re looking at a few things besides the DLC content we don’t know what, or what changes they’re going to make (last time they changed gun balance they made the game worse).
I’m pretty sure nothing posted on these forums is going to negatively affect any future improvements. The Devs don’t do what they do for the love of their forum members, they do it for money, and they’ll continue working on Brink, whether it’s played by anyone or not, until the money budgeted to make “improvements” runs out.
Well complaining and saying what has already been said certainly won’t solve anything thing now will it.
AS SAID BEFORE…CASE CLOSED!!!
Clearly you know nothing about me or many other people on these boards.
Back during ETQW version 1.5 our team ran (at my personal cost) servers to help Splash Damage develop their patch - we rallied the community to get in and play it to help Splash Damage get the data they need via play-testing. In fact, some of the guys at Splash Damage also took part. Feel free to see my name pop up as a ‘thanks’ in the patch release notes.
I don’t want to see this company or it’s game(s) fail but the fact of the matter is, I’m a realist and I won’t hide my disappointment when I think a product is poor quality. A spade is a spade.
In this case, Brink just isn’t as good as it should have been. You have free license to take my opinion of their game as some sort of insult to Splash Damage and my longing for their demise but that doesn’t make it the case. In fact, it couldn’t be further from the truth. But thanks for playing.

NO we will not shut up. If we shut up they will never fix it and will do the same on there next game (Which I will not purchase until its in the discount bin). Why would we support a product we do not enjoy. Stop being a pushover.
Sorry. I don’t think that “a low skill ceiling that requires 20 minutes of gametime to hit” and “the other players … just are that bad” really fit into the same side of the argument. If they were so bad that they couldn’t hit a 20 minute skill ceiling then they probably wouldn’t be able to figure out how to turn on their PC / console, let alone hit maximum level without hitting the skill ceiling.
Complain about the gunplay if that’s your complaint but don’t whine about skill ceiling to make it sound fancy. The skill ceiling in the game is just fine.
It is too late for the game to improve. I only hope that SD have ideas for the new game (and already working on its concept) and have learned a lesson, so the game will be at least on the level of ETQW.
As for me I am not playing Brink since a month and I am not returning to it whatever. I just have 10x more fun with Quake Wars and will have for the years to come. 90% of mates I know have returned to ETQW. Currently the custom map making for it is having a third boom wave. The OP has mentioned very important reasons for the fial but there are many MANY more. Time to move on. And it’s not necessarily in the forward direction
I agree these are some of the reasons that the game has kind of died in many respects. The one I agree with the most is the maps, the maps are just plain awful.
I’m sorry, I’ve mulled it over, I’ve tried to like the maps but they just cause the most issues for me personally.
No openness, no allowance for player inspiration, choke points galore and almost always two or 3 routes to an objective. Bad, bad, bad.
Silly consumers, developers don’t listen to the people who buy their games!

it wont solve, but it shows that people still think about brink and still want to get it improved. it shows that this forum still has some reasonable people left, who actually care about the game and criticize the things that need to be criticized.
one of my problems in these days though is people talking down the problems. “lets all shut up, it will fix by itself”.
or people calling other people trolls for argumenting and pointing out real issues.
you know, actually this place has been a better place before brink was released and all sorts of weired people got flooded in. but i dont want to go to far with this. probably you get my implication.
It was in no shape to launch on consoles. Like, at all.
How did this get through any kind of certification?
I agree with [fe]ss, and personally my main issues with brink is the perfomance (ati user), the bugs, and unbalanced maps, sdk at least would help in the maps area.
