Who's in from day one?

(3Suns) #21

I have 4 copies (4x360s for the fam) pre-ordered and I may up that to 5 if my friend isn’t persuaded to buy a copy himself. Gonna give Bethesda a chance to market this puppy a bit more before I make that final 5th copy pre-order.

Still waiting for Bethesda to get info to PlayAsia on Asian copies.

(Nail) #22

I’d rather my money worked for me rather than some corporation, so I won’t pre-order

but, I’ll probably get copies for all 3 platforms if it’s an ok game

(Bullveyr) #23

I will preorder it, waiting for the Preorder Packs in Germany/Autria.
In my area doing that usually means it sells out. But this is Brink, not SC2. Also with Amazon I get free shipping, release day delivery and no tax which makes it the lowest price for me to acquire a retail box and disc for my eventual box-shrine.

The preview videos are the demos. How can you guys have over a 1000 posts on this forum and no confidence in Brink? Why waste your time here then?
I have confidence in Brink, absolutely. I just don’t have confidence in pre-order services. I want a physical copy of the game on my desk, so that rules out Steam, any other methods have the risk of receiving my order up to a few days later which is hard to bear when everyone else is playing.

There’s absolutely no plus side to pre-ordering for me.

(DarkangelUK) #25

GAME.co.uk are notorious for delivering games the day before release day, so I’ll probably go with them… but that won’t help much obviously if Steam doesn’t let me jump on, even in SP mode.

(Apples) #26

Nope in release fosho, waiting for demo / reviews of some friends I trust before I jump with the bandwagon. I’m still too skeptical about the game to waste any monies, I trust in what I see

(DoHo) #27

Pre-ordered through Steam. Not a tough decision to make at all, especially considering the price (cost me $50AUD). Bargain!

(LyndonL) #28

I enjoy the steaming pile that is BFBC2 and I just know from everything I’ve read and seen that Brink will be far better than that in terms of features and gameplay. After I found out about this game and lurked these forums for a bit I bought ET:QW and love that gameplay, and so know that I’ll like Brink.

There is value in preordering (So long as it’s buying ahead of time) in that you don’t have to come up with that $50 come release date. I also preordered mine on Steam in November 10 because the Aussie dollar was kicking the US dollars ass at that time, so I actually saved money by preordering.

(madoule) #29

49 “day one players”! wooohooo!
for me that’s all i care…

(Dormamu) #30

Preordered on Steam, and waiting for Collector Edition,
i have a trust agreement with SD/Bethesda, they trust me to preorder the game, i trust them not to screw up.

P.S. Activision broke the agreement and forced me to put my eye patch yelling Argh Argh…

(Jess Alon) #31

I don’t understand that hatred towards pre-order bonuses.

(X-Frame) #32

Instead of it being a simple “Do I want this game? Yes or No?” now you have to decide which of the 18 retailers are offering a more enticing bonus. And since most only pick one, there’s a lot of content that is out there but unable to even be bought until months later.

Like Brink’s bonuses - I want all of them, even if I need to pay a few bucks for each of them. But they probably won’t be available to everyone for months after release.

(tokamak) #33

Well we already had that discussion a while ago. I’m indifferent towards cosmetic bonuses, don’t see the appeal, but nothing wrong with it either. Things that affect the game balance, even very slightly I find to be pretty negative.

(Kryptyk Samurai) #34

I don’t understand the obsession over them. Special gear in games is like crack to some gamers. Not sure if you know about “RECON” armor in Halo 3 but the lengths that some of peopel would go through to get it (both legitimately and illegitimately) boggled my mind.

(DarkangelUK) #35

Some people just like having things that other people don’t.

(Humate) #36

No pre-order. Just hardcopy on release day.

(madoule) #37

i got the steam pre-order.
i think it was an auzner post (the wishlist deal) that got me back to steam and i got my last games (l4d2, arkam) thru it. i eventually discovered that steam stored my HL2 package, gotten back into that again and NOW i love my steam dearly.
this good impression plus the possibility to play from hour 1 (i know IF i’m lucky) is the gamebreaker for me.

maybe if it offers added value collector edition at a later date…

(trigg3r) #38

yeah, i was very skeptical about buying games from steam at first mostly 'cause i used to like having a hard copy of what i was buying, but since im from argentina and hard copies takes 1-2 months to get here and they costs much more 'cause of the shipment, steam is my only option if i wanna play the game right away after it’s released and save me some money.
So steam is a blessing in my case. The great deals they offer in pretty much every single game also helps

about the preorder bonuses, im ok with it as long as it’s just cosmetic

(MatthiasK75) #39

I am on PS3 but i voted anyway, I am hoping the Gamestop near me has a midnight release so i can meet other Brinkheads

best thing is you can’t loose em. steam saves 'em in a cloud, DVD/CDs have a limited lifespan, will get scratches, who knows. plus give it one or two years and the web will deliver again a bandwidth we never dreamed of…
