i’m using a Nvidia card because it’s supporting
linux better than others but a lot of time ago i
read on linuxgames.com that XGI
(http://www.xgitech.com) came with his native
driver for linux too. Has someone try these new
video cards with Enemy Territory (windows
too)?

Got a 128mb GF4 Ti4800 SE downstairs, 128mb GF5 FX 5200 upstairs and a 64mb GF2 MX400 in code box. :]
How about ‘other’ option for people who dont have ait of nvidia?
I use Connect3d ATI Radeon 9500PRO myself.
Here is the list;
9800XT 256MB DDR2, bought in America for $470 (280ish pounds)
9800PRO 128MB bought @ CCL £210 (then 5 days later dropped to 158)
9700PRO 128MB £275
9700PRO 128MB £254
9500PRO 128MB £156
9600PRO 128MB £76
All still used in various machines
the 9800XT with 3.06GHz P4 gives me 6400 points in 3Dmark2003

Use a 9800 pro 128MB in my games machine, and a ti4200 in my server (which still gets used as a second games machine through the TV when having LAN parties)
Although the 9800 pro kicks ass, ET is just as playable on the ti4200
Here is my list:
1 GeForce 2
1 Cretive Labs Voodoo Banshee
1 S3 Virge
2 Voodoo 1 Addon Cards (no name)
2 ATI XPert
The prices I dont remeber.
All still used in various machines.
I don’t know how many points in 3Dmark2003 I get with my GeForce 2 and my Duron 700

Here some news that some might find more interesting:
The 9500 pro is better than the 9600 pro (8 pipe vs. 4, and only slightly slower memeory). Just like a geforce 3 is better than a geforce 4 MX, and the FX 5200 ultra is slower than the ti4200. Welcome to the wonderful world of marketingspeak.
Though slightly old, here http://www.dansdata.com/cardchoice.htm is disobfuscation of the of the various models.

Ah, ok, thanks for explaining.
I’m a true Linux/BSD user and i’m using the following card on my main system
9800XT ATI and it works perfectly, and for everyone who’s still thinking ATI has no /crappy driver support for linux you’re wrong, ofcourse NVIDIA’s is still better but ATI has improved alot, on my other system i’m using an NVIDIA card
and XGI… nice try but NO… i do hope to hear of them in the future
nVidea unfortunatly, wich gave that entire “downgrade-your-drivers-cause-ET-willcrash-if-you-don’t” problem.
ATI baby! 9700 pro
Although i do also play on a shuttle with integreted nvidia 440mx graphics, so i guess i still have some splinters in my arse

The 9500pro was bought almost as soon as it came out, hence the price differnce.
the 9600pro was bought @ the manchester fair recently so cheap, but @ www.cclcomputers.biz the prices are as cheap if not cheaper.
