Who else cringes when they see 'Pre-Order'?

All this talk of ‘pre-ordering’ [sic] is making me wince everytime I see that term. I think it’s because I’m an anally retentive Briton. In the UK, pre-ordering is browsing, it’s window shopping, everything you do before you actually order something… Even if that ‘something’ isn’t available, it’s still ordering, or at a stretch ‘reserving’.

phew. I just had to get that off my chest. Don’t take me too seriously, I’m the only person I know that finishes all IMs and IRC chats with a full stop… That’s a ‘period’ to our American friends

You can always de-pre-order, then re-pre-order all over again.

How about “proto-ordering”?

(Nail) #4

I’m into “beta” ordering, it’s sorta like practice

(kamikazee) #5

Seconded. Well, most of the time.

I get what you mean even if it is a bit pedantic ;), but I guess OrderToEnableDeliveryOnReleaseOfTheGameAndReserveYourGameTag is not as catchy as “pre-order”

Nice to know I’m not alone

We have to be thankful that no copies are ‘pre-owned’ as yet 8) Well, I suppose they are pre-owned, as they don’t yet exist, they aren’t in any state of ownership. So we’re ‘pre-ordering pre-owned’ copies.

which came first the chicken or the egg

as it pops into existence it it owned by somebody somewhere
(just as you and i will be once we play)

so it’s already second hand and that means it should be easy to find at a car boot sale (but i don’t want to buy a car boot and i have two hands already)

:stuck_out_tongue:
