In a thread a while back someone mentioned mercs from the E3 trailer would be more than likely to be seen coming up soon, if this is set in stone, we would have all known engineers or medics available, if that isn’t the case who do you think and or hope will be next? I for one really miss Thunder.
Who do you think will be announced in 2 weeks
I expect Turtle, since he’s a character we haven’t seen yet at all, and they probably wanna test him asap.
And yea, they followed the same logic with Phantom and that turned out bad but…if the game survived this much testing, it’ll survive this. This is why I say don’t quit because of Phantom, it’ll pass, people will adapt, and he’ll get changed to how he should be.
I wouldn’t be surprised ( or disappointed ) if it were Phoenix, but my fingers are crossed for Redeye. I think there’s a legitimate need for him ( or Aimee ) at the moment, and people have been asking for him, so … there you have it.
@Watsyurdeal I’ve been curious as to how many uses his shield/barrier could have, I like the idea, its very simple but one has to wonder if he might have another ability.
Well one obvious thing I could think of was blocking off certain routes, like blocking the entrance to the barricade room on bridge. Forcing people to jump and likely get shot or eat nade/mine. Or giving a Sniper some deployable cover for a fantastic sightline, or to protect Aura’s healing station.

2 Turtles locking 2nd C4 on Trainyard for whatever the time it’ll take to bring that shield down. Have a nice piece of warm, tender frustration cake.
Even if Redeye looks like pretty sweet counter for oh-so-much-drama inducing Phantom, I doubt they’ll add another recon considered merc right after. If I recall we’re missing 1 med, 1 gun food dispenser, 1 engineer, 1 assault and 2 recons if they add everything in closed beta. Could be anything to be honest.

“Gun food dispenser” My sides…
That cant be out of the question though, as they released Rhino and Kira right after Nader and Bushwhacker was released a tad before Fletcher.
Edit: I doubt they’ll lock it down from the enside, as it drops similar to stations and turrets.
Honestly, I would love to see Redeye. I can’t play Vaasil to save my life but maybe he’ll be different enough?
Yeah: Aimee ( Recon ), Redeye ( Recon ), Stoker ( Fire Support ), Phoenix ( Medic ), Thunder ( Assault ). Turtle wasn’t in the game before, so I’d be surprised if they released him before the ones that were. We don’t even know he exists for sure at this point - at least to my knowledge.
I’m also not sure the classification matters that much with Phantom. I mean, Recon, really? If anything, he’s an Assault/Recon hybrid, without any real Recon ability. Phantom has absolutely nothing in common with mercs like Aimee and Redeye.

I guess he’s meant to be the extreme when it comes to hiding, like an Anti-Vasilli or Aimee
Fragger fits a middle ground between grenades and machine guns, above average health, etc. While Rhino is all health and all guns, he has low movement and no grenades. Nader has Low health and low gun power at the price of a lot of grenades and even better indirect fire than Fragger, while Thunder fits a role between Fragger and Rhino.
In the Recon case, Aimee and Vasilli are detection and destroy enemies at long ranges, especially with headshots, Redeye is a bit closer range and both detects and hides himself and his team with smoke While finally Phantom has 0 detection, 0 sniping and all about close range.
Well, never mind that he can function at longer ranges too ( and quite effectively at that ), I think that’s the main point: Phantom has nothing in common with the other recons. He has far more in common with the assault mercs.
I mean, where the other types all have distinct abilities that form a sort of unifying theme ( ammo for fire supports, revives for medics, objectives for engineers ), the only thing assault mercs have in common is that they bring much more direct firepower, and are tougher than most other mercs.
Phantom just . . . frankly doesn’t have a lot in common with anyone else, but he has more in common with assault mercs than any others.
From what i hear, redeyes assets have been found in the files since the hotfix.
I’m pretty sure that’s what “they” said about Phoenix right before Sparks surprised everyone.
By both Nexon and SD it was called a “Good observation”. It’s not 100%, but I believe they put those mercs in trailer for some reason. Fingers crossed for Phoenix.
I voted Turtle, but i want Redeye or Aimee… i love sniper/recon class mercs
Oh, Turtle will be the absolutely most interesting add-on to see in future then, if he wasn’t in Closed Beta, no one has experience of him in advance.
About adding a hard counter to Phantom. To be honest I think it was exactly the reason they added apparently hardest to balance- merc at a time when there was not much counters to him (apart heartbeat sensor), and see how players react and come up with how combat him without “magic tricks” so to speak. To get data on how he is played & battled like so.
Although they did get quite a ton of information by now, could be better for player base sanity’s sake to add counter. Both for ones seeing him balanced or ok with few tweaks and obviously for the group attempting to summon Statan, lord of dyslexic himself to get rid of Phantom.
