i just got a new root box. i’ve installed ET and etpro. the servers are running fine, but i want to activate the suse 9.0 firewall ( servers are running on suse 9.0 linux). i entered the port (27960) in the configs of the firewall but when i enable the firewall the server seems to be offline.
in fact the firewall still blocks the port.
so where shall i edit what ?

You can change it by setting net_port cvar on command line (27960 is default, 27960 - 27970 is common). Port 27950 is needed to query the master server and 27951 to query the MOTD server. And for ET you must open UDP.

ok i’ve submitted followig ports in the yast firewall menue:
27950:27951
27960:27966
but its still not working
the firewall still blocks the ports.
ok thc i found the problem
i had to add the ports in /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2
FW_SERVICES_EXTERNAL_TCP " 27950:27951 27960:27966"
FW_SERVICES_EXTERNAL_UDP"27950:27951 27960:27966"
( i will use probably 6 server.
