Which medic?

(titaniumCrouton) #1

So I am trying to decide between Sawbonez or Sparks for my next purchase. I’m not very experienced with medics so I was hoping the good people of GD could guide me on my way. I’m looking for the one that can complement a generally more aggressive playstyle. I hate aura because her healing requires the med station which makes front lining hard, so i don’t play her.

Both Sparks and Sawbonez have medpacks so that is nice. But I like to be in the fight, defending, fragging while also patching up/helping whoever happens to need it in the moment as opposed to sitting back and just being a heal/revive bot. As said I’m not familiar with the medics or if any of them can preform the above playstyle soooo…I look forward to your recommendations ^^

Thanks for the help guys o/

Based on your post, definitely Sawbonez. Sparks is all about staying safe, whereas a properly played 'bonez has the option of becoming an undying warbringer.

Sawbonez: Regeneration packs, melee revive.
Sparks: Instaheal packs, ranged revive.
If you like to play more active, I would say, get Sawbonez. I can’t stand Sparks and people who play her, and I mained Sawbonez quite a long time. He can be in the middle of the fight, has good guns and more HP than Glassrks

Sawbonez is definitely the medic for you, he has the highest health of the medics, solid weapons, defib, and he has large medpacks to throw out.

Thanks guys  Sounds like it’ll be sawbonez. Vexed’s description of “Undying Warbringer” was rather lovely, honestly. Thanks for the quick responses and help o/

Sawbonez is amazing at killing enemies with his superior weapon choice compared to Sparks and Aura. His healing packs are also the best, assuming you aren’t passing them out in the middle of battle. 30 more health than the other 2 medics is also a nice plus.

Sawbonez by far.

Pretty much everything has been written alredy, just a bit more.
Sparks is what i would call and advanced merc. She excells at her specialty of being dedicated revival merc, but shes tad sucky at everything else. Making her rather hard to play merc. Plus shes not really a frontline merc, due to the fact that she lacks in terms of both firepower and vitality.
At the same time Sawbonez has far easier learning curve and is generally good allround merc. With good primary, good health pool and medpacks that can be really useful in many sticky situations. Not to mention his ability, while shortranged, to be a revival machine.
Sure, Sawbonez has only 3 medpacks and they heal over time, in comparition to Sparks insta heal packs. But, Sparks has only 4 packs(which is not that much really) and they heal, while instantly, but rather low amount of damage(and with low health pool she uses those on herself half the time, just to stay healthy enough not to die from 1-2 shots). While Sawbones medpacks can regen, even toughest mercs, to full health in just few seconds.
In short, Sparks is mainly a revival bot, while Sawbonez can both put up a good fight and keep his teammates alive and healthy in toughest of situations.

I personally call him the, “LIVE LORD”. If played right you’ll rarely die while at the same time being a bringer of death.

(yusayu) #10

Aura. Sparks is useless, two secondaries always means youre dead once an enemy spots you and the maps are just not build for a range revive. Sawbonez’ health packs are just sub-par compared with auras healing device imo. If you know how to plant it.

(titaniumCrouton) #11

But aura is squishy, her healing is stationary and I despise every weapon she has access too o_o. Not me at all.

pre patch sparks was more of a combat medic than wasabi bones.

now she is pretty much more of a revive bot.

i bought sawbonez after having played sparks for like 100h and he felt so clunky.
sure you can hide behind a fragger or rhino but when youre on your own and ever get to half health youre screwed cause if the enemy goes for the kill you cant do shit as his packs heal so slow.

being used to sparks, taking my time to kill and healing in between or pre placing packs on the ground, makes her very flexible but hard to master.

The nerf did very little to her combat ability and if you’re good enough the change is ever so slight that its barely worth mentioning, and was mainly focused on adding some skill to reviving, as it took just about 0, now you have to manage resources.

(capriRocket) #14

if going from unlimited charge to max 6 or so shots is “barely a change” to her combat utility, lol.

(Vampwood) #15

Yes it is barely a change to OFFENSIVE sparks, you rarely get an opportunity to fire without having to duck back into cover after your shot, giving you a moment to rebuild charge level, like a good sparks does, and often you just switch to your empire 9 after your first shot.

Literally all the change did was make her slightly harder to play in the reviving role and almost unnoticeably worse.

After a few days of getting used to the change, my playstyle as an ultra aggressive sparks has not changed in the slightest.

  • If you get the gold sawbonez ( without the wood stocks and handles or the red version) The man is ballin

(AShoppingCartGLX) #17

I prefer Sparks “IF” you know what your doing. You’ll preform better I think sparks is harder to use tho. Sawbonez is better in CQC

(titaniumCrouton) #18

I actually do have a red stocked, gold sawbonez card  it’s for the smg-9 though. Not a fan of the weapon and the perks are smeh

obviously our playstyles were different, i used to do small zaps while constantly covering, barely using the empire as that made me very vulnerable.
i have adjusted to using much less revivr, as much as it allows me now and using more e9.

(ttownjoe) #20

Sawbonz is the best balanced med for fast teamwork play, can hold his one and provide faster revives, aura is only better in some unique instances on maps with a critical control point. Sparks i dont get the love for, her sniping ability is sluggishly unresponsive and her revive ability takes too long. Shes not really good at either roles.
