Where has the Shrub's forum gone?

I cannot access the shrub forum ( http://forums.ardiem.net ) nearly for a month.
The forum is down or moved to another domain??

Forgive my ignorance, but I’m curious. What’s the story on this? I guess shrub did something to piss off a lot of people?

Shrub has lots of option that change the gameplay radicaly.
These can be shut off so that only the good options of shrub remain.
However, admins of shrub server tend to use as much as possible “to make the game more fun” when in fact they screw up the game.

Ahhhh, is that like when the server starts acting like it’s on Acid? Helmets instead of blood, sparkly things floating in the air, everyone zooming around locked in the prone position, etc?

Obviously when that happens I’m gone within about 3 seconds, along with everybody else shortly after I imagine.

If you use shrub in the right way, it’s allright.
The four clans DarK, SoH, CF and VoV use it a hell lot, and their servers are extremly popular, if I do say so myself.

shrub has some nice features, notably an XP-saver, and is quite handy especially since clients dont need to download.

But all the stupid options, which might be off by default but like ECE-666 says loads of the servers run all sorts of stupid, irritating settings so lots of players (well, me for one) cant be bothered joining shrub servers for half an hour just to find out if it’s setup OK or not. This makes me not want to run a Shrub server, and when playing a ET mod there’s ETPro which is much better anyway.

IMO Shrub would be a lot better with 3/4 of the options removed. Sounds backwards, since theyre off by default anyway, but issue remains you (and all your server’s potential players) dont know what you’re/they’re getting.

i joined a server, and they were shooting huge big crosses of panswer rockets, is that shrub? ive never actually ‘meant’ to play it before.

I’ve known the panzer thing to be called the “Cross of death” I think you have to have 4 stars in everything to use it - Not sure. have a pic of it if anyone is interested

Yep, I’ve had the misfortune of joining a shrub server with the “cross of rockets” option enabled. On the server in question it was a time limited thing, a message would come up in the console saying something like “Multi rockets enabled” when it came on and another message came up when it switches off.

Who was it that said “Shrub is like a box of chocolates. . .”, very apt - I’ve stayed clear of shrub servers ever since

Is shrub also responsible for the thing with the ammo & health packs, where they fly miles in front of you?

I got used to it after a while and was supplying ammo to two mortars who were in different parts of the map, just by moving a little bit then throwing the packs the rest of the way. It was really annoying if I needed to drop one for myself though. Also that server had soemthing weird going on with the panzers, I think they moved at about 10 times the speed and didn’t need an energy bar to fire. Friendly Fire was off (thank god, nobody would have survived the panzers otherwise) but explosions and damage didn’t cause players to get shoved around. The server kept coming up with “Party Panzers Disabled” then 2 seconds later “Party Panzers Enabled”, and so on. I guess the Admin was having more fun than the actual players.

Actually, as the admin who set that up, I never play on that
server… but it is fun.
