When should FO give ammo?

You culd also post if you actually play F. Ops. that way.

I dish ammo at spawn if I’m coming in with a medic. Otherwise I just respond to the voice chats.

If I’m playing Axis I tend to set up shop somewhere on the map and just keep a pile of ammo around me. People tend to gather around the guy giving out ammo, and before you know it I’ve got a medic and a few soldiers there with me. Its an excellent method of getting people to important parts of the map on pub servers. You want ammo on radar? Come to the side entrance and help us defend it. =)

Any time I don’t have anything to strike, and usually whenever a teammate asks. Sometimes, with a map like fueldump where spam can be critical, I try to concentrate on spamming rather than giving ammo. Even so, a low level fops can drop one pack at spawn, and still have a full bar by the time they are in position to FFE. Once you are leveled up a few time, you can drop a couple mega packs, and still have a strike out pretty quick.

As medic (what I usually play) I would MUCH rather that the fops only give me one pack, or even none at all, if there is something important that needs support fire. With picking up enemy SMGs and the ammo upgrades for light weapons and medic levels, ammo isn’t nearly as scarce in ET as it is in RTCW. Once I’ve got the first ammo upgrade as a medic, I’m usually not concerned if I don’t get any ammo at spawn.

In ET I think it’s much more important to feed MGunners and well placed mortars PFs, than medics. Medic ammo comes just as starting first map. I only run out of ammo if ramboing, and on those occasions I usually have enough with opponent’s.

I’ll usually drop a few packs at spawn. Other than that, I’ll wait for the “I need ammo” requests. The FO can’t see the other players ammo level, so request are needed. We can’t go around just giving ammo to every person we see, when they might not even need it.

Im still a firm believer in giving medics ammo, even if they dont ask. as medic, i like having lots of ammo, b/c of tap-out issue I stay close to the guys im escorting - engies etc which means i do alot of fighting to get that damned objective - esp when youre babysitting lit dynamite

One of the best things about ET (and moded RTCW) is the fact that you CAN’T pick up more ammo packs than you need…

I mean you can still pick one up if all you need is 5 rounds and one nade, but if you are FULL/FULL you CAN’t pick them up…
I used to hate in plain RTCW accidently pickup a pack I didn’t need…

On defense (Goldrush bank, Fuel dump) as field ops I try to littter the ground with them… Nothing worse than defense failing just due to lack of ammo…

I give TM ammo if they ask or not, almost constantly. Once you level up, it’s easy to give ammo, call strikes and fight. Even if you only end up giving a TM two bullets, it could be those two that save his life.

You can never give too much ammo.

FO’s need to be aware at all times about what’s going on. If you see a TM fire a panzer, drop a pack on him. If you see one running from a fire fight and reloading, drop a pack. Empty your power bar on any friendly mortars, the extra shells you’re giving them could turn the game.
And the one thing that you must get in the habit of doing is automatically dropping a pack or two on every medics that revives you all the time, whether they need it or not. It’s kind of a way of saying thanks.

I’ll give ammo to panzers and medics of course, but I don’t like chasing after every teammate handing out ammo to everyone. Request ammo, and you’ll get it ASAP, but otherwise, my energy can be used for other things. If your running low, just v-2-2 and I’ll come running.

Thats just the way I play FO.

This kinda thread reminds me of something Borsuk would do… but anyways…

I give ammo whenever anybody asks for it… I usually drop at least 2 outside the spawn, and whenever I have plenty of charge I drop em all over the place.

(Borsuk) #11

Borsuk would say: shut up.

(Riftgarde) #12

Make the field op explode when you kill him, since he’s carrying all the ammo

(DroPoUF) #13

fo + mortar = deadly

(Riftgarde) #14

mortar + building interior = deadly

(Borsuk) #15

Mortar + 90 degree + run away = most humiliating way of disabling a wehicle

directly after spawn and in between and when someone asks for it
