What's your point in crafting higher than Bronze?

(Lord.Eblis) #1

Hi all,

This is not a trolling question of course

So the crafting week is finally here with all its joy and deception.

I recycled all the unnecessary cards I had to get some fragments because I wanted to see what’s so special about crafting cards like silver or gold or cobalt.
So now I’m well equipped to have the permission to click on the button craft silver, gold, cobalt…
And there’s nothing special about it. Basically those cards are just skins, and the weapons kit just allow you to chose your primary weapon card category (I was hoping for something else  ).
Usually when I craft a bronze, I give myself 2 tries to have the card I want, then I just buy it with credits and I personally see no point in having higher especially when I see the price compared to the bronze one you can get in the store.

So I was curious to have your opinions guys, and ladies of course : what does attract you in those silver, gold and cobalt shiny cards ?

Honestly, I just like my guns to look a certain color.

I don’t care about what the enemy sees, as much as I see.

I can’t see say, what armor I am wearing, but I can a trinket, and the color of my gun. That’s dumb stuff, but it makes the game feel more personal.

You’d be hard pressed to find someone who actually likes their gun being gun metal gray.

The same thing as in every other game where you can buy comestic goodies (especially in mmorpg) : looks shinier than no pay buddies

But i do agree that it is less significant in DB cause you can’t see yourself (except weapons) and the others players neither (unless you kill them). If higher skins had much more unique details (like the founder’s ones), it would be more interesting to forward to higher rarities.

I am a personal big fan of skins. I like having the ability to have different looks for characters and weapons in-game, not as a status symbol but just cause I think it looks cool. I realize that most of them are pointless but I like them anyways.

I don’t like the Bronze skin, so I spend spare credits on the next rarity, Silver. If I could “downgrade” a Bronze card skin to a a Lead/Iron skin I would craft only Bronzes.

I don’t care about rarity, prestige etc. Everyone can run around with Cobalts for all I care. I just want my gun to not look like crap, aka the Bronze skin.

Same reason people love hats in TF2, because… reasons.

Guess it’s “Obsessive Bragging Disorder”.

I don’t strive for higher rarities me-self. I only have them through random drops, as a placeholder for Bronze loadouts I woulda bought otherwise.

No it’s not dumb, I can get this idea but the fact is that there’s not that much “personal feeling” in the state of the game.

If there were like some hundreds of possibilities for textures and colors, it would be awesome.
Imagine when you craft a higher card than bronze, you’d have a palette (like 3d softwares) with metal colors, metal textures, wood/plastic colors, wood/plastic textures, a third random color/pattern for details (all that for the weapons). A kind of customization bench.
For the model it would be trickier because we need to differentiate between allies and foes.
–> I would myself craft to chose my own personal colors.

But what if SDK will be available and someone could download any rarity skin for their loadout?

(frostyvampire) #10

Because skins.
Just like asking people why would they buy AWP Dragon Lore over AWP Safari Mesh. Sexier skins.
I’d pick shiny solid blue over forest green any day

I personally only craft cobalt cards because they are sexy.
I still use bronzes for Phantom and Bushwhacker though.
Anyone else I either have a good cobalt or I’m stuck with a special edition card for them so I use it (as long as it’s not bad of course).
I’m trying to get the best cobalt card (or at least a good one if it’s a merc I don’t play much) for every merc in the game.

A cobalt collector  you should give us a screenshot of your treasure

imagine making your own camo and opera8e with style very unique that your enemies cant copy that same style and design of your camo and Armor…

(wood made my jimmies diamond hard m8)

time to OPERATE M8

(BananaSlug) #13

when my every card was in bronze it felt pretty boring, i like when my weapons have different camo patterns,

but to make 3 golds (2 were bad) i bought crafting kits, collecting 25k feels bad

(ThePigVomit) #14

Thinking bout rolling my 87k fragments all into silvers…can’t decide, could go for the nearly 6 cobalt…I’m so confused…

(BlackboltLW) #15

I love Silver cards’ carbon camo, those black textures are sexy

(MrLashnibro) #16

All I want is that Shard Cobalt because the texture looks kinda like diamonds and Diamond Are Unbreakable. Swiss Gold as well I mean who doesn’t like Swiss Red?

(Lord.Eblis) #17

@ThePigVomit
I prefer that carbon texture too over the cobalt electric blue.

(Icecoal) #18

I just find bronze but ugly to look at

(averagerussian) #19

i mostly play execution and i like to show off everytime i get an mvp
