What's your favorite archetype ?

(BrigandSk(A)) #41

you can change between characters of different weights NOT change the character weight between maps!!!

Tired of your poor knowledge of the game and constant statements of discredit over official information released by the developer team.

If they say information about the game… it means it’s solid and permanent feature of the game until it gets released. Hence why H0RSE has put together all that information into a compendium.

Stop speculating and saying the developer’s statements are speculations!
Thank you!

Nope, nope. Nope nope nope.

Sort of like how archetypes are for faces only?

(BioSnark) #43

I thought the evil strogg cyborg archetype was a good one.

(Ajax's Spear) #44

This is such a stupid thing to say. things change in development all the time. Devs constantly make statements that they later go back on or have to alter.

(Ajax's Spear) #46

Are you serious? Have you ever tracked the development of a game before this?

[QUOTE=Ajax’s Spear;263913]Nope, nope. Nope nope nope.

When you start creating your character there’s only 2 main features that will determinate how he looks and that are permanently, that will distinguish you clearly from all other archetypes no matter how they are dressed.

  • Body type

  • Base Face

And if you think there’s a plastic surgery clinic available between maps or even while off any map, sorry but you should forget about that.

The archetypes are the characters main plot for Brink in the developers perspective, but to give diversity to the game, they allow most of the options to be customizable despite few permanent.

From the options permanent 2 of them change the way you look massively and from the 2 I mention only 1 is related to archetype, which is the base face.

If you don’t understand what I just explained I wish someone can explain it better for you.

Or

Even showing me that I’m wrong or misunderstanding the official information.

a couple I can think of

(Nail) #49

yep, a couple

It’s a friggin videogame. They can do anything they want, they don’t have to be bound by the rules of reality.

How many times do you have to be told that archetypes apply to more than just the facial structure? Is English your first language?

I really don’t care. If the game release and I’m wrong, you know what will happen? My life will go on.

(Ajax's Spear) #51

and you’re telling me that you’ve NEVER seen elements of the game change over development, even if they’re explained in released statements?

(Nail) #52

some, but I don’t pull a crystal ball out of my ass and state some core elements have changed, just because they could

be a little more civil please, maybe stay off the Beth forums for a bit, some of those posts could drive you to distraction

Ok, well this is from Horse’s compendium, so some of you either need to start changing your tune, or admit that you’re wrong. And I’m also not being any less civil than any of you, so relax with that. Anyway:

"
BODY TYPES:

In addition to choosing the look for your character, you will also choose a body type. There are 3 body types in Brink; Light, Medium and Heavy, and each have their own advantages and disadvantages. Body types can be swapped at the end of a match but not during matches, and the differences can basically be separated into 6 categories."

stubborn little fellah! . . . . .

ARCHETYPE - An archetype (pronounced /ˈɑrkɪtaɪp/) is an original model of a person, ideal example, or a prototype upon which others are copied, patterned, or emulated; a symbol universally recognized by all. In psychology, an archetype is a model of a person, personality, or behavior.

source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archetype

So… what’s permanent is what makes your character specially unique.

Cloths have archetype names as they belonged originally to those faces / personalities, like they were the story plot for the developers.

In order for the gamer not get bored of the same looking characters they made available lots customizable features either permanent or not.

Hell! the word ARCHETYPE is super clear… architecture + type

cloths are not architecture, they are fashion

skulls are architecture not fashion

I’m getting facepalms from you, Nail, and comments about how I “must have missed the memo,” that aren’t even related to anything I’ve said - not to mention this other guy telling me that he is “sick of my “misinformation”” and referring me to Horse’s compendium, which apparently agrees with me, and you’re telling me to be more civil. what a joke.

I don’t know how to be anymore clear on this. Go watch the character customization video again. Things like “the shield” appear in several of the option boxes. This means that you’ll be able to pick “The shield” archetype for the pants, headgear, shirts, etc, and not just the face. You’ll also be able to pick different options within those archetypes.

You’re simply wrong, like swinging at the air.

right…

(DarkangelUK) #58

I don’t remember ever reading that you could switch you chars bodytype. The whole reason you have 16 slots is so you can mix and match how you please, and swap char between games, but a decided bodytype is stuck to that char and not changeable.

I know it was a choice a lot of people wanted (a few wanted it swap in-game as well), but can’t say I ever read that in an interview or from a dev post on here.

(murka) #59

I suggest you read the thread from end to start. It’ll make things much clearer.

(BrigandSk(A)) #60

The base face is the only feature that clearly defines who your character is.

NOT

Cloths

Scars

Shoes

Helmets

Hair

Skin tone

Etc

Accept this as my opinion and not as a fact, ok?
