mouse accel on high sens is useless, if you’re playing at 2000dpi and medium ingame sens then you don’t ever need to move your mouse faster anyway
here’s a video by kovaak explaining the advantages of some mouse accel, that it allows you to have low sens but still be effective in close range https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KORL144_co8
i really don’t think it’s worth it in any way but it’s probably the only slightly good argument for mouse accel
This video pretty much explains exactly how I play and why I play that way. I’m not sure why he said it was introduced in Quake Live when mouse acceleration like this was used before Quake 3 from back in 1999.
Of course, his driver won’t fix the issues I have with Dirty Bomb’s issues with mouse sensitivity where it doesn’t work correctly when set too low. Skipping pixels while scoped with some weapons is pretty awful and a UE rookie mistake.
Unreal Engine rounding errors. For example when you set a low sensitivity and move your mouse slowly the values will be so low that it rounds down to zero, causing no input at all. I don’t know about pixel skipping though.
I also know Unreal Engine has issues with zoom, cause zooming in will scale down your sensitivity causing even more errors. I remember this one UE game called Section 8: Prejudice, it was so extreme in this regard, I could move my mouse at normal speeds and nothing would happen.
If I remember correctly these errors start really happening at sensitivities below 5.

Just curious, I want to know what you guys play with in terms of sensitivity, dpi, the way you hold your mouse, the way you move it, and your preferred crosshair style.
For me its:
Razer Deathadder 2013
DPI: 3500
Polling Rate: 1000
In-Game sens: 1.6
Crosshair: usually dot or a static + style crosshair with no gap
I usually hold my mouse palm style or claw, with a focus on tracking center mass - a habit from countless hours of Quake LG practice.
(Have been trying to get into the habit of headlining ever since I heard of DB)
I’ve red long time ago than a 1000Hz polling rate was really very cpu intensive, so I always stayed at 500Hz … don’t you suffer any performances drops when moving your mouse ?

I’ve never had any performance drops while changing polling rate

I heard any windows sens besides 6/11 was bad

It is, unless the game uses raw input, then it doesn’t matter. Higher than 6/11 you get pixel skipping. Lower and you get lost input. At 6/11 every mouse input is registered and used by the game engine, any other setting and it’s not.
You’ve probably also heard that you should use MarkC Mouse Fix, well unless you’re playing CS 1.6 or some other ancient game this supposed fix does absolutely nothing. Yet everyone uses it thinking it actually does something. It pisses me off.
Mouse: Zowie fk2 (400 dpi/1000hz)
Sensitivity: 5, default windows
Mousepad: Artisan Zero (Mid)
Grip: Fingertip
Crosshair: Medium sized white dot is best
Even though I use my whole whole arm when I move my mouse, my mouse movement is really erratic. Tribes Ascend gave me really good tracking, while cs:go gave me really good flick aim.

Can you spot the black man behind Arnie? That’s ma’ style!
No srsly, I just shoot all over the place, and it seems to work out pretty well actually
So i use 2600 dpi and 26 in game sensitivity… How do you guys keep up with a bunny hopping proxy with sensativity of like 14… Sensitivity is tied to turning speed, can’t even imagine how hard that would be…
Exactly. With twitch aiming, mouse acceleration is actually somewhat feasible (I’ve tried it for a while in CSGO and was surprised how easy it was to get used to it, also there are a few CS pros playing with accel). Since you generally move your mouse at consistent speeds when twitching, this makes sense.
But when tracking targets your mouse movement speed depends on the speed of the moving target, so in games like Dirty Bomb, acceleration becomes a nightmare. It could be alright for sniping though.
You don’t use your wrist to track. One of the biggest mistakes some FPS players make is thinking that to track faster you need higher sensitivity. When in reality all you end up doing typically is constantly over-correct. I play with my whole arm on a huge mouse pad and not a tiny mouse pad. This lets me easily and smoothly track even a person who is going fast in front of me without over-correcting constantly. It lets you dial in shots easier in stressful situations as adrenaline won’t screw with crazy high sensitivity making you miss shots you’d normally hit as well. You can also twitch shoot somebody too much easier. Well, I guess its’ easier for me and a lot of my friends I sort of grew up playing with. As always YMMV.
I use that whole mousing area when I play. A 180 is a 10-12 inch (25-30cm) swipe.

like 3cm/360 is that right? how do you combat the air currents in your room? or a big truck driving outside?
But in half second you’re swiping your arm across your big ass surface you are delaying getting on target faster…
Although I have not experienced it because I’ve not tried it, I feel like you are wildly flailing back and forth like a child in tight quarters 1v1…
Mouse: FK1
DPI: 400
In game sens: Default, which is I think 10?
Pad: Puretrak talent
I play with my whole arm (up to elbow on my pad), but want to go to a lower sense but I find myself doing worse and just staying at 10, oh well I feel for this game I dont need the “counter strike esk” settings.
1600 dpi
1000 polling rate (only use 500 for old DOS and windows shooters)
12.2 Sensitivity in game.
