What's the deal with railgun...

Alright idiots, I know what I have seen. I get 50-60 fps on any map BUT railgun, which could alternately be known as THE WORST MAP OF ALL TIME. Judging from all the hate messages on railgun, it won’t be in the leagues like CAL. Thank God!

If you want to know where I got my video card, I fumigated the Keebler elves, and put those freaks in the oven. Yum.

You must have some crazy setup then. @_@

I LIKE railgun, so do a lot of other people. The only complaints I’ve seen about it is the spawncamping issue. Other than that the map is sound.

On railgun, there seems to be a longer “fog of war” or is it me?

FOr istance. I was on the rail gun defending the controls against the axis when a CoOp dropped a smoke grenade in my line of fire to the Axis spawn area…my FPS dropped from 43 to 12 instantly and stayed there until the smoke cleared!!!

MY card : PNY 128MB DDR Geo4Ti card…SYS: 1GB Ram, 2.8 Ghz p4 on a 845 mobo (DDR)

I have never seen a frame drop like that on Radar…ever. I have foliage turned on and even when explosions go off, etc. the foliage overlapps the graphics keeping the framerate still in the 30’s…

ON railgun it looked like the system was trying to MESH the two textures together…

Could THIS be what he is talking about?

I personally like all the maps, but in umb defense, i have never had less that a 30 fps on any maps until that incident.

I am not a graphics guy, so don’t call me an idiot, just curious if this could be the problem…

I dont think FPS alone shld disqualify a map from consideration for ladder play. We do only have 6 maps …

a p3 1gig w/ geforce4 ti (not mx) is leaving the video card starved, that CPU cant feed it fast enuff to keep it happy.

Perhaps clans on ladders shld be seeded by their average FPS : ) I know I win alot of firefights on radar map b/c my opponents rig isnt as uber seven three three T as mine : )

My frames are about 12-15 average when in other maps i get 20-25 average

only happens on the “inner side” of the map tho. when i spawn i have 35 fps, but when i walk to the railroad it drops fast. in the bunker it’s pretty ok, about 40 fps

linux, dual 1200mhz athlon, 1gb ram, geforce4 440mx…

i dont have any problems with railgun, but radar sends my card into meltdown.

I wish for cg_simplefoliage or something …

Funny thing about this forum is it’s xenophobic. If nobody knows you have to go through a 2 paragraph ritual thanking splash damage and the great community for all their help etc… Otherwise you get picked on for anything and everything they can find in your content. In your second sentence you broke into your rant and that made everyone go squirley. :eek2:

Sounds like your CPU is too slow. Set everything to low detail is the best help I can offer. Run as many fps tweaks that relate to cpu performance that you can find.
