What's being done about the glitch abusers?

(TeeKayM) #1

I’m pretty sure around 30% of the entire game population unfairly boosted in this dumb glitch. It’s just annoying for us who play dozens of matches just to get another level while these kids play one match and then level up twice.

I’m glad it was fixed somewhat soon but what will be done about them?

Banning is obviously the dumbest thing to do since a lot of people did it and it’ll kill the population. Maybe a take away the amount of levels in which they boosted? Check the logs and maybe count how many matches they boosted in and add up the total and then take it away from their total exp right now? I don’t know, I just don’t want them to get away with it.

Thank you for the totally unnecessary video.

Why do you want to take away their levels? after the first five, levels have no purpose except to show you have spent more time in the game then the other guy, and well… who cares?

(Ghosthree3) #5

I just hope the xp is rolled back.

(Sinee) #6

Why does it matter? It’s just levels.

(Ghosthree3) #7

Because those people wasted other people’s time by fucking around in their games farming XP to get cases. I want it rolled back so they know it was all for nothing and that they wasted their time. Not rolling it back is essentially rewarding them.

(Feley) #8

Yeah just levels, and then when you get in the game with all level 1 - 5s and you are hoping that that teammate in team with level 20 knows to play (have an experience… throwing ammo packs, med packs, properly throwing air strike, etc.), you lose, get disappointed, and only then realize that levels don’t matter… because of that glitch…

(SteelMailbox) #9

They do get equipment cases for every level… maybe take away those cards.

(srswizard) #10

I don’t want basic b1tches to get away posing as vets, that’s all.

(Ghosthree3) #11

This too. If you’re going to have levels, don’t make them pointless.

Just because I think they’re pointless doesn’t mean I don’t think that they should mean something if they insist on having them in the game.

(Sinee) #12

Chances are, the thing done about the abusers was simply fixing the exploit lightning fast so it couldn’t be abused anymore. Seeing as levels and even lead cases are pointless and cosmetic to a point, they probably weren’t really hurting much.

At least the devs were quick about fixing it, but I think with the state of things…like the hacker group targeting DB right now making comp games useless, declining traffic numbers, and all the other bugs and issues, someone spamming levels is probably low on the totem pole of things SD wants to invest man-hours weeding out and punishing.

I’d rather SD focus on giving me anti-cheat.

Yes, that is true indeed.

To me, levels don’t really matter. However, they do give a sense of how good the player is by just looking at the levels. Now that every level 5 is a level 20 it is just annoying because you don’t know how good they are and if to rely on them.

(Ghosthree3) #14

Would be true if tons of people hadn’t abused it for literally millions of xp and it wasn’t still in the game.

(Merci1ess) #15

What’s the point of rolling levels back if the game dies anyway? Concentrate on the bigger problems. Once what needs to be fixed is fixed then we can talk about the smaller problems.

Luckily you guys aren’t developers because your priorities are screwed up. The glitch was fixed very very quickly. We move on to bigger and better things.

Why would a level 1-5 be with a level 20 teammate when there’s servers clearly stating “MAXIMUM LEVEL 5” and what kind of excuse is that anyway?

(Ghosthree3) #16

Rolling back does not really impact development at all so don’t say it like it is. All they need to do is have a program check all the users for outrageous XP gains in the last week and delete it if it’s found. It’s not like they have to do it individually.

(Merci1ess) #17

I just find it a waste of time just for numbers. Besides the excuse of being a higher level then your actual skill is? There’s no other reason to do it and honestly just because a player isn’t what he seems to be is not good enough an excuse to look up every player and roll their levels back. You might bring up cases? What are they gonna do about that… look up all the cards that the players got and remove them? Even those that they traded up and stuff? Nah. It gets too complicated. It didn’t break the game more than it already is.

Sry the levels aside, letting them get away with it, just will be a sign to them, that the devs are ok with willingly exploiting and cheating in the game. Not to mention these people wasted our time by doing nothing in the game.
As the numbers should be quite easy to get, the backend is a database and made for stuff like that, so at least set these “imposible-to-be-this-level-in-this-playtime”-accounts back to start, won’t catch all, probably, but at least the obvious onces.
Imo a ban would also be ok, but you are right, we need to rely on exploiters to get this game going… rly?

(Cappe) #19

In some other games willingly and knowingly abusing exploits gets people banned even permabanned! The exploit might not be that gamebreaking but it does give a false sense of playing with experienced players while they are just xp farmers.

Considering that probably more than 30% of the players in this game used the bug, banning people due to oversights or exploiting bugs is a really bad way to deal with it. Imo all you can do is be like “Oh well it happened, it happened.”

Banning someone over a bug found in your game is generally bad marketing, I’m also talking about the teleportation console command gig.
