What would you teach a n00b in Dirty Bomb?
Never stop moving, if you stop moving you will die. Even when your shooting at other players make sure to duck, jump and move left or right. It seems hard but it gets easier as it goes. Mix it up cause soon players will understand your patterns and shoot you down easier.
Most importantly this game is meant to be fun and relaxed. If you feel the need to flame someone out or be disrespectful in any way (Yes even noob is disrespectful, they just want to learn the game.) leave the match. Be the bigger person, I’m not perfect but i try my best not to be mad at my team for not being good enough. That’s the best we can do, some people don’t try.
Walljumping is something you can do.
You run faster with a pistol, melee, or certain abilities out.
Cobalts aren’t better than bronze.
That yellow hexagon is the objective.
Objectives win games, not headshots.
Dome is the best map.
Vote for Dome.
Please.
You don’t need to use a heavy melee attack to finish people.
You had me…until dome.
How to aim
If I had more time, I’d sit down and break down how to aim properly in a shooter with a mouse.
People don’t seem to realize how important your mouse grip is, and how much your fingers, wrist, and arm come into play. Or how to do a proper swipe with your wrist, and arm.
I’m not sure whether any single advice stands out, it depends a lot on the individual skill.
My advice would be to learn in this order:
- all mercs and their abilities
- all maps and their objectives
- all guns and their pros/cons
joking aside:
learn to acquire map awareness: be aware of where the frontline is, where enemies are coming from, who are your teammates and where they are. Try to pick up sound cues for abilities and guns to accurately track down who/what is where. Never stay too far from cover if you are outnumbered, push the opponents aggressively if they are outnumbered.
Don’t be afraid. It’s a spawnwave based game, if you die you will at most respawn later or at best get revived soon. This means when it’s time to get to the objective, push with your team mates instead trading a few bullets from afar, hiding around a corner as soon as you take some damage and let the 1 or 2 poor sods who pushed out get rekt by crossfire. If you push as a team, some will die but there is a much bigger chance that you will get to the objective. Even if you died without getting a kill but you did enough damage or engaged the enemy from a position that set up a crossfire, and your team mates can finish off whoever you were fighting, it might have been worth it.
If u play aura put the bleeping med station out. Put it in easy acces to your team but make sure enemy isnt able to shoot it easily. Also if rh8 o is defending the obj give the med station to him. Also your a medic revive people dont wory about shooting the enemy your team needs you keep them fighting more than a kill. Also dont run over people revive them
If your are hammer u must do 2 things…1 dont wait till your team is empty throw ammo at them. 2 for the love of god save your air strikes for the ev. Dont throw them for no reason and dont throw them too far away from ev. the cool down is long and it could be the difference between completing the obj.
I think “a noob” does know most of this. They have played more than the standard new player.
I am not disrespectful Korea’sCommunist… well I at least try not to be.
Doesn’t mean I won’t hunt people who are though. jk of course btw. i just like having fun with my name
As far as new players are concerned though I think they need to learn the perspectives.
First perspective:
know why you want to play. learn the mechanics of the game.
Second perspective:
Learn that this is a team based game. It is not just about you, your pride, or your ego. Although your pride and ego can still have a place when you play because every one is different.
Third perspective:
Learn the maps and the rules of each map. Keep an eye on the positions of all players on the board.
Fourth perspective:
Remember this is a game. There is an art and science to playing. You will need both discipline and adaptability in order to survive and grow. Do you really know why you like playing? What is your end goal for playing? What is skill? How far do you want to take your skill? Just because you can do something, does that mean that you should? Never give up. never stop fighting. There is always another match.

this is a good point but i think it only applies to tryhard/pro players. the vast majority will build up muscle memory regardless of mouse and grip. I haven’t seen a big drop in performance when switching from a ‘pro’ gaming mouse to a simple office logitech one, there comes a point where these little tricks & tips only push you over the edge at the very peak of competitive play.
oh yeah I forgot to mention
Watsyurdeal you have got to sit down and write either a book or make videos on your thoughts about mice, their usage, and everything else you can think of when you get chance some time in your life. I think the gaming community as a whole would benefit from you passing your views on to them.
My turn:
Basic:
— Fire from the hip, keep moving. You can walljump; and you can long-jump by pressing ctrl + spacebar while running (‘Shift’). This is a TEAM-BASED shooter, with NO TDM mode, play it like it was designed. Yellow signs on your HUD are objectives, you can interact with them with ‘F’. Do not go off on your own. Do not interact with objectives if someone else already is; instead, shield them from oncoming fire. All secondary objectives and the EV can be shot at to destroy them (surprise!). PUSH THE FUDGING EV if it is repaired. Keep your cross-hair at head level 90% of the time. Try reducing sensitivity if you can’t aim, this isn’t COD. Secondaries are great in DB, don’t try to reload in a 1v1 if you can switch to a secondary. Level does not equal skill, nor aim. Your first 50k credits should be spent on Arty, an Engineer, or Phoenix (Engineers do objectives faster). Do not go for Assaults or Snipers until you have other roles down. Do not buy cases until you have at least one of every Merc type. Bronze loadouts are the minimum you need for functionality, above that nothing matters, it’s bling.
More:
— Learn your abilities, and their utilities quickly at the beginning of the match. Play your role. Try holding down abilities to see what they do. You can also use abilities by switching to them with the ‘4’ and ‘5’ key. Aimed skills such as Arty’s Artillery strike and Kira’s laser can also be targeted and aimed using walls (Skyhammer’s offensive ability comes down perpendicular to it’s thrown direction). If you’re playing Bridge, try to bring Nader, Stoker, or Thunder for area control. ‘V’ can be used for quickchats. Hit ‘3’ then left-click to finish someone quickly when above them. You can press Z to see where all friendlies and objectives are more easily, AND their hit-points. If playing execution, and you happen to have the bomb, you can drop it by clicking ‘6’ and right clicking. Don’t give up until you’re at least level 15. Get a centered HUD because the default HUD sucks. And don’t under-estimate melee utility.
If you like Phoenix - Read this guide.
Enjoy.
When you buy Kira spam v57.
Joke aside i would tell them
-that k/d doesn’t mean anything.
-that we can actually mute the kiddies snorting into their mic.
-that you wont win a match on attack with camping at our side.
-that you wont win a match without an engineer(few exceptions exists - map dependend)
-that you wont win a match without a medic.
-that you wont get revived when you are dead(not gibbed) in enemy base and still spamming for medic!
-that 1 medic isn’t enough for a 8v8
-that, in my opinion, Bushwhacker and Sawbonez the most solid first picks are to buy at first and there is nothing wrong with using them still later on.
-that depending on your merc you should group up, meaning a Sawbonez behind a Fragger can carry the game while a Proxy is good at flanking.
-that if you really have to buy a Proxy dont jump straight into the face of your enemy, especially when they are grouped up.
-that Shotguns, while currently superstrong and easy to land some kills, teach you a bad habit.
-if you just want to goof around in this game you are allowed to ignore all advices this Forum offers you. But i will find you; and i will kill you. Afterwards i will T-Bag you.
Aside from gameplay, credit usage is important during the first hours :
-
Get mercs in priority. Especially an engineer, no matter which one, sawbonez, and a combat merc (preferably nader or fragger who are more versatile than thunder or rhino), sniper/recon are not mandatory when you learn the game.
-
Don’t get cocky with loadouts. They’ll become a point of interest when you’ll at least 2/3 or even 3/4 of all the mercs. If there’s a merc you play regularly, try to get a bronze loadout for him but that’s all for now.
During gameplay, in my opinion you should imperatively play medic/engineer/support in priority. These are the best classes to understand the game. And you’ll understand how you should play combat mercs by supporting them.
I never understood why people say engineers are high priority for new players. You always have one on free rotation anyways, so why spend any money on it? Might aswell get something that offers different gameplay instead.
i understand where youre Idea has its root. You still have to consider that these are tipps for beginner. They have a ton to learn from this game. So take focus on 1 engineer ease this part alot. Often Bushwhacker is recommended as the first engineer. This is because you will learn him and the map at the same time!
Anyway there is nothing wrong with relying on the free rotation. You just have be familiar with the new engi-merc the free rota offers you again. Also you want to get a usable Loadoutcard for each of them, which at the beginning isn’t quite easy to come by.
I often use Bushwhacker… i cannot switch to Fletcher that easily.
Pick a merc you like.
Play that merc.
Practice with that merc.
Master playing that merc…
Oh wait the merc is Vassili.
nvm
