quite a lot of your ideas here were done in wolftactics for rtcw, unfortunately they released about the time when ET came out and almost nobody played it, i was myself no fan of their maps but the fire nades and some other stuff were cool, it’s a shame they didn’t get more support

I’ve got another one:
IMO, voting to mute someone is a very bad way of going about it, as a lot of people just hit ‘no’ for all votes without reading them, and if you do succeed (which is very unusual) the mutee just spams unmute votes until it works.
Instead, I think you should be able to block people talking as it arrives at your computer, without a vote. That way, you could actually mute reliably, and they wouldn’t know or be able to do anything about it.
This would also solve the problem that happens when some moron gets admin powers, and starts flooding just to piss people off. Because you can’t vote to mute them (because they’re admins), you have to put up with them. If mutes were clientside, however, you could shut them up.
Yes, I’ve long wished I could mute individual players. I also wish you could still ask for medics/ammo while muted, because I’ve been muted before for, ahem, overzealous vsay cheer’ing
but when you’re muted you are rendered virtually helpless.

OK, that’s another wish. A much more complete /help. For example, the ability to say ‘/help fireteam’ for a detailed explanation of what /fireteam does and how to use it.

Engineers that explode when you press ‘Jump’ in limbo - no just no, never no, maby in a clown MOD but not a regular MOD!

Soldiers witch an MP40/Thompson - I think soldiers should be able to pick these as there weapons as other classes you can select these weapons and help the team with ammo/health/blowing stuff up etc… you get what im saying!

Poison Knifes - Now for the medic, as thay would be close enough to shoot you or knife you, more for covert opps, thay could stap sum1 without them loosing there uniform, whitch would be a advantage fir the team if thay use it well!

Mustard gas - Ill change what i said here, canisters that come down rather than the gas WOULD be better than just an ordinary air strike.

Teams weapons - Ok this should be made an official change rather than a MOD but give the allies allied weapons, you would see a british soldier running around with an MG42 would you? (unless he/she was a spy).

More Weapons - I there arnt enough weapons i think available to each class or enough weapons in the whole game, add more!
ET Commander mod idea…
Idea concept… Create a commander fuction for RTCW ET with features similar to games like Savage and Natural Selection Mod for Halflife.
Design interface via the L or M menu for issueing commands to other team members.
Design graphics for commander while in the command mode (ie like the soldier deploying mortar except player is crouching with radio and handset)
Features:

Charge bar visable in command mode window.

Mouse click menu in for issueing commands.

By selecting a team member on the command map, class specific commands become availible.

Commands cost charge bar energy (based on the complexity of the command) additionally accomplishment of assigned commands/tasks replenishes charge bar and awards exp to commander and applicable team member.

Additional fuctions:
A. Field promotions - The Commander can level up a same or lower ranking team member (takes full charge bar, Commander cannot promote above his rank)
B. Charge bar replenishment - The Commander can apply his charge bar ammount to another team members charge bar at a 25% cost.
C. Aerial Resupply - Commander can call a Aerial Resupply of health and ammo to a point specified on the map (requires full charge bar) much like a Field Op does an Air Strike, except it is done from the Command Menu and uses a green smoke graphic (design a parachute graphic for resupply packages???).
D. All team members within 50 ft of commander recieve 10% boost to recharge rate at all times. All team members with 100 ft. of commander recieve 25% boost in recharge rate while he is in command mode.
Rulez:
Any Class can become commander. 1st player on the team that reaches battle sense 1 is given option to become commander. If that player declines command the next player eligible is given the option. The Commander may relinquish his command at any time, even while in the respawn que. If another team member surpasses the current Commander in rank, he will be given the option for command.
Team Killing a commander will result in demotion and death/respawn for 1st offense and for 2nd offense, player will be kicked for 3rd offense.
One restriction that might be added to a mod would be for the soldier to have to earn his weapon skillz. IE sub machine gun default, panzer and MG 1st lvl Hvy Wpns, Flamer 2nd, and Motar 3rd. Soldiers would still be able to pick up other fallen soldiers wpns and use them regardless of lvls.
Id also like to see maps designed with a small armory of wpns availible. Like the Thomson SMG in Return to Carnage Canyon.
Um maybe make MG default, seeing how a soldier cant get Hvy Wpns xp unless he has a Hvy Wpn :eek:

And why would something built-in be any better? It’d be sharing ET’s CPU cycles, so it’d probably be even slower.
If it was built into the game everyone on a particular server would easily be able speak to each other (even if it is just to taunt the opposition). There would be no messing about first having to agree with of the comms software to use, then which comms server to use and finally which ET server to play on.
On the subject of gas I may be very wrong here but wasn’t it only used in WWI.
I can’t remember anything about gas used in WWII.
I would very much like to see some of the ideas here implemented but others are just stupid.
I can’t see the point in a poision jab.
Level restrictions on heavy weapons may cause problems on servers who already set restrictions.
A few more weapons would be nice of course 
Footprints would add a bit more of a stealth aspect to the game.
High powered sniper rifles are not a good idea IMO. The game is nicely balanced at the moment and discourages camping.
Super soldiers would be a good idea IMO as currently no one is a soldier with a MP40/Thompson yet in WWII that was the main bulk of the army

Thats my two pence worth anyway.
1 thing that will keep me from returning to a server is severe wpns restrictions like “no panzer” servers. I do think however some of the noobs should be restricted from intially having access to all the wpns.
I agree with your point about poison dart, i think the covert backstab kinda fills this role anyway.
Wow, looking at this thread dating 2003 I can see where most of the mods up until now got their ideas from. When reading the comments I can’t help but think that these guys had some awesome ideas. I started ET August 2003, I had no idea about software, development or MODS back then, these guys basically just said what JayMod, NQ and other top mods integrated (- some of course).
