What To Play While We Wait

(Crytiqal) #141

It failed plenty of times in Wolfenstein were you wanted to plant a charge but dropped ammo instead.

(DarkangelUK) #142

Sorry if this seems obvious but… this isn’t Wolfenstein. I’m sure SD have played it, I’m sure they are aware that the way Wolf implemented it wasn’t executed very well. You’ve struck it off on the basis of one very clearly badly rushed game which everyone is well aware of, and also using silly reasons to boot.
seriously, go play wolfenfail and see what happends

And it’s not meaningless. In a match it could determine win or loss
lol, owned.

Sometimes its better to run up to an objective with your tools out so you can start building immediatly using the mouse1 button, and not having to lift your fingers of the move keys since you already pre-selected, rather then having to compromise movement at the moment supreme by having to press the use key at that particular time.

Your scenario is assuming that the player will have his use key bound to a button that involves taking a finger on WASD - it’s like you are taking your personal configuration or experience and using it to speak for everyone. I for instance, use the z-b keys to bound to actions, using my thumb to press them, keeping my fingers on WASD at all times.

Also, unlike ET and QW, you cannot toss ammo on the ground accidentally, because you cannot toss it on the ground at all. Ammo is received directly by the player, meaning not only would you need to be looking directly at a player to initiate the “give ammo” icon, you also need to be close enough to him. Without looking directly at teammates who are close by (who actually need ammo) the system isn’t going to “misfire.” The chances of something like that interfering with planting a charge (or any other objective) is slim to none.

As DA has mentioned, the margin of error lies in the player, not the system.

cough cough You know, despite how much I disliked MW2 (addictive yet infuriating), Black Ops looks to be a vast improvement. They even have a bot mode, so I won’t have to play with real people if the multiplayer turns out to be frustrating. And custom game types ala Halo, which should be fun. Oh, and matchmaking filters, like region and stuff, to help with lag. I like the mechanics of the games, but the majority of the community seems hell-bent on finding and abusing anything and everything that is even slightly exploitable and/or cheap. If they can cut down on the abuses and exploits Black Ops should easily be enough to last me until Brink, at which point it will be forgotten entirely, I’m sure. :stuck_out_tongue:

Been playing the open beta of World of Tanks, and its a good crack if you spend a bit of time to get some decent tanks, as the 1’s you start out with are slow 1 hit wonders.

World of Tanks puts players in command of their very own World War 2 era battle tank. WoT is a team-based game where two sides of up to thirty players each compete to destroy all opposing vehicles. With 150 combat vehicles of American, German, and Soviet design, World of Tanks offers an in-depth gaming experience.

The publishers promise a historically accurate setting and action-oriented gameplay. RPG elements also make an appearance, as players will be able to upgrade their tanks with new parts and crew members. New recruits start with a light German or Soviet tank, but after accumulating experience and credits, they will be able to upgrade to heavier models. Additionally, it will be possible to upgrade individual parts such as turrets, chassis, engines, guns, radios, and ammunition types.

(Nail) #148

seems more a problem of “aim assist”

(Mad Hatter) #149

What amazes me is the sheer number of people who are now crying about it. Oh no, you’ll have to actually put your crosshairs on a guy to make sure you kill him, you poor babies. I didn’t even care until I saw all of the whining.

You know what I’d like to see? A good FPS without any OHK sniper rifles at all, just to see what it would be like. Wait… :stuck_out_tongue:

My ideal FPS would have no snipers, no ironsight aiming and no melee of any kind - That’s right, kickin’ it oldschool.

(LyndonL) #151

No problems… Here ya go.

I like ironsights for enabling long distance accurate aiming, but I just don’t like the focus placed on them in COD/MOH/BF etc. Actually BF isn’t as bad. I was playing MOH Online the other day before the patch and I was about 1-2m from an enemy and fired the shotgun into his face without ironsights and missed. I mean, Come on!!

(Voxie) #152

I for one will continue to peer through my scope in order to shoot at targets in bayonet range.

(brbrbr) #153

BF Heroes ? Farmville ? Minecraft ? TESII ?

(KAS--Will) #154

Na… just Quake LIVE. It’s alright, mainly I’m still just gaming with the usual COD4, MW2, or Duke Nukem 3D.

Word on the street is Duke Nukem Forever is coming out either before BRINK or the Holiday season of 2011… so I’m either going to be playing Duke Nukem Forever till BRINK, or BRINK till Duke Nukem Forever.

(master[mind]) #155

Minecraft, BF2142, TF2, but i’m waiting with high anticipation for an official beta of Xonotic to be released. At least I can practice my speed runs in the current build.

(Spaiker) #156

Battlefield Bad Company 2
Too bad my clan’s (s3^) Pink Taco Bar is down, I would start playing ETQW again. Maybe we’ll come to Brink. I’ve seen some familiar names around here like brbrbr Aristotle, :stroggbanana:

(madoule) #158

woot! just gotten into L4D2, sorry i’m late, I know. any1 up to join via steam? gimme a ping

(Zen_) #159

I’ve put about 700 hours into BC2 and am sick of it. The maps suck and it’s still full of technical problems and design flaws that will never be fixed.

Not sure if I’ll pick up Black Ops or reinstall UT2k4 in the meantime. UT is dead and playing a CoD game may result in /wrist. What to do…what to do.

(Offensive Person) #160

I just bought Burn Zombie Burn. It’s mindless fun.
