I do as well. However, it might be a function of how good/great the grenades are that will be exclusive to Soldiers. For example, from the video it looks like Molotovās will only be available to Soldiers. If the most effective grenades are available only to Soldiers, people will be more likely to play the class.
Good point. 2 of each is getting more attractive the more I think about it.
I thought there was a thing about there only being so many slots for each class on each server/game/host. Maybe that was speculation.
I hope not. As annoying as it is seeing too many of one class (and ultimately ending up with an unbalanced and thus useless/losing team), Iām happy knowing that things like that are the choices of the players. Being forced to play a certain way and told what to do breaks the fun. In many games often it is the players that create the most action and excitment, not the map, goals or objectives presented to them.
I was trying to be ironic and funny, of course it wonāt be the medic, thatās the one class that will be needed no matter what.
Iām surprised this thread has as many responses as it does, people must be really bored and desperate to talk about anything at all. But Iām bored too so I suppose I will join in with my two centsā¦
I think SD has done such a good job balancing the classes that, on average, the actual usage probably wonāt vary by more than 5%. I would have said Operative by a wide margin except that have added a lot of stuff for that guy to be a good all around class, both defensivly and offensivly.
The class mix will be determined by maps, without more knowledge about them itās much harder to speculate, but since weāre all throwing out wild ass guesses hereās my ranking top to bottom most used classes:
I think, most ppl create the most/least used list based on their own class preference
I will be playing operative non stop, untill I master it or forced to switch the class, then I will select another one to master. By master I mean that you wonāt find people better than you in that class

I suspect you hit the nail on the head.
The clone wars! āWhereās the other team!?ā
I probably missed the previous five on this subject.

look at your map andā¦thereās 12 teammates nearby
Looks like I wanna go engineer now⦠But since every class has every gun, it depends on what people wanna do, but as the game is not out yet, we wonāt know until the first week, then I shall make a post with conclusions based on the majority that I find in each game , I think it would be cool if there was a stats tracker somewhere!
Of course, any answer tthat you have will be wrong, because no class will be under-utilized.
The game needs all of the classes to work. Every class has a role, the maps we have seen need all classes to be completed⦠I imagine unbalanced teams will lose matches in record time or dissolve because people quit, and those spots will be taken by bots that switch to the needed classes.
Regardless if they are āxp machines,ā I still say Medic will be the least played. Having played Medic for years in FPS games, I have found that hey typically are the least favored.
Soldiers are the āsimpletonā class. They shoot stuff, blow stuff up and have infinite ammo. This appeals to many players
Engineers have turrets, mines and damage/armor buff - this is appeals to many players.
Operatives, regardless of what they offer, have become synonymous with ninja, sniper, and untouchable. When Brink first launches, I suspect this will be the most played class - it may even last well after launch.
Medics heal, revive and provide a variety of buffs - not very appealing to most people. Support roles such as healers and buffers, take a backseat to the other classes. Many people just donāt see how it can be fun supporting teammates rather than shooting everyone in the face. Medics also require a lot of micromanagement - figuring out who and when to heal, more concentrated on helping teammates than shooting people, etc. and for those players who do play Medic for he xp, will likely be piss poor at the class.
I think the difference here, though, is the fact that medics get any gun they want in Brink. In past games, i enjoyed being a medic, but was often frustrated by having a weapon that seems near useless, or so situational that you are helpless in many situations.
Medic will prob be the most used. You canāt really expect much teamplay from pub games so you must carry something with you, health being the most vital.

I generally agree, except I think the popularity of the Operative will dwindle fairly quickly after launch, once people realize that it is not a kung-fu shadow warrior class (or at least not many people will immediately be able to get it to function as such), and once they realize that playing effectively as an operative has- what I predict will be -a steep learning curve.
Also, Iāve seen a good deal of people on the Bethsoft forums who are interested in Medic. Whether that will translate to the overall playerbase; Iām not sure I could make a decent educated guess on that. There doesnāt seem to be a dire lack of enthusiasm for it, though.
Personally, a heavy Medic is what I think I will play first.
Then, perhaps a medium Engineer.
Also, sometime, a heavy Soldier.
And perhaps a light Operative. But I think I would rather have a medium Operative, really, who can both go forward but also have the staying power to hang with the group performing the primary objective. But I want one Light character, and Operative would seem the best fit.
And finally, at least one character that uses all of the Universal abilities, just to see what they are like.
