What the most underused class would be?

(Auzner) #21

They’ll learn the operative is not Altair or James Bond and that anyone can use a sniper rifle. Then they’ll learn the sniper rifle is a poor choice. So at that point they adapt to the fun or go back to CoD. Really, if you want to be the Tom Clancy sniper assassin you learned about from another game, play THAT OTHER game. “No I’m just saying I think it would be more balanced if they had every ability in the game”

(Ajax's Spear) #22

I frankly wouldn’t mind if the Operative was pictured as more of a CIA/MI6 agent than a ninja, because that’s really what it’s closer to being. Information, interrogation, sabotage, etc. I just don’t know why so many people think they’re going to be re-enacting Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon by picking that class.

(A.i) #23

maybe cause every1 wants to be like that
My reason is mainly a disguise - never seen that in other fps (never played tf2), so Im curious how it will work out; and temporary wallhack  10 seconds is tons of time in fast paced games

regarding the least played class, I think it would be a soldier

(Garphy) #24

No. Just no.

Medic main class in competive game.

(Apoc) #25

I personally will use the engineer the least, iv never had the patience to set up a turret and wait or to set down mines etc… ill probably spend most of my time as medic, while playing around with all the other classes aswell

(murka) #26

Medic will prob be the most used. You can’t really expect much teamplay from pub games so you must carry something with you, health being the most vital.

The advantages specops give is like radar in etqw. I much rather be on the frontline instead of deploying a radar every once in a while.

(Fireseed) #27

If there any underused classes in Brink it´s definitely not the Medic, rather the Soldier or the Operative. I think Engineer and Medic are the most popular classes.

(IceBrazuca) #28

It’s hard to tell what the first week will be like, but I guess the order will be based off of which class seems to get the most XP fastest, and then after that which class seems most OP, until the game is patched and perfectly balanced.

After a few weeks of people playing Brink I think it will be something like this:
Medic > Soldier > Engineer > Operative
Which is the way I hope it turns out, except I want more Soldiers than Medics.

I plan on playing a Light Operative, but I’ll go Light Engineer if its overused.
If for some weird reason Operative and Engineer are overused I’ll go Light Soldier.

(BioSnark) #29

CoD has a better health regen system

It won’t be operative. Everyone wants to be a ninja. Dunno why, but when you describe the operative to people, they seem to say “Yeah. A ninja.”

It won’t be soldier. Soldier carries with it a certain connotation of “Sergeant Sergeant Master Sergeant Shooter Person” that CoD-types will not be playing long enough to get out of their head.

It won’t be medic. Medics make XP hand over fist, so serious players who want to quickly get 20 will probably level medic and then respec.

Engineer seems like it’s the class people are the least excited about, to me.

Sufficing to say, I expect Engineer to be the lowest, or Soldier if the CoD crowd just doesn’t pick up on this game.

(Mustkunstn1k) #31

Brink has only 4 classes, it’s not like there are 10. None of them will be overused on underused. I mean maybe everybody think that they want to be the “cool spy guy”, but in reality… that is not the case.

(Linsolv) #32

> Only 4 classes
> ergo none overused
> mfw

You will see a lot of medium engineers. Me and a friend who play together already have some gameplans laid out to buff each other as engies and destroy people.
What I would like to see:
2-3 Medics
2-3 Engis
2 Soldiers
1 Operative
Originally I absolutely agreed with you, as I am not a big independent-operative fan. However, I had a thought. Wouldn’t a team, in theory, want two operatives? One behind enemy lines creating havoc, and one with everyone else preventing enemy operatives from doing the same. Potentially, heavy operative, here I come.

Good point St.NickelStew. My thoughts have been in line with what Shadowcat was thinking, but I might be swayed by this line of thought.

(Herandar) #36

8 Heavy Operatives FTW!

(Exedore) #37

I await the video.

(St NickelStew) #38

Thanks. If the only class that can spot/reveal an enemy operative is a friendly operative, then a team might very well want one hanging around with the “main” group working toward the primary objective.

The best team configuration might just be two of everything, with some variation based on the mission being attempted. But I would guess that most missions require most/all classes.

Somewhat on-topic: Because there appears to be at least 5 abilities that can be used by only Level 20 characters, we are must create and max at least 5 different characters to try out all of those abilities. Making choices is getting more and more difficult.

(DouglasDanger) #39

I thought there was a thing about there only being so many slots for each class on each server/game/host. Maybe that was speculation.

(Wraith) #40

Soldiers in my estimate.
