What the fuck happened to Cartoon Network?

(watsyurdeal) #1

I remember growing up and having g plenty to watch. DBZ, Dexters Lab, Powderpuff Girls, Batman TAS, Teen Titans, and so on.

Nowadays, teen titans go shits on me, uncle grandpa rots my brain, and Regular Show actually makes paint drying seem like a fun thing to do.

What the happened? Did they stop trying or are they out of ideas? Like WTF

u wot m8? Teen Titans Go is masterfully created, and I was a huge fan of Teen Titans. Regular show used to be great, but I haven’t watched the past couple seasons so I can’t vouch for the current episodes. I will agree that Uncle Grandpa isn’t to my tastes either.

Other good ongoing shows on CN right now include:
Adventure Time
Amazing World of Gumball (Acquired taste but one of my favorites)
Steven Universe (Haven’t watched but hear good things about it all the time)
We Bare Bears (Only seen a handful of episodes but they were good)

And of course all their shows right now aren’t going to hit it off with you, I remember watching shows on CN as a kid that I didn’t like, nothing’s changed.

This is a real Signature.

I personally like the cartoons on now more than when I was a kid, and I enjoy watching them with my little siblings. You sound like the person who spams my social media feed with “90’S CARTOONS rock this new stuff sucks”

Pfffft, TV is soooo 2010

Steven Universe is amazing. The first season is meh, but things really pick up from a plot and character development standpoint in the second season.

But yeah, TTG, Uncle Grandpa and Clarence are awful, IMO.

I stopped watching those kind of channels about 4 years ago.
Teen Titans was BEAST (the original)!
DBZ aww yeah.
PowerPuff girls.
Was Yu-Gi-Oh ever on Cartoon Network? The original not the stupid ones after it that got worse and worse. CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES!
Anyone remember the original BeyBlade? With Kai and Tyson, Max and Ray. Don’t forget Kenny!

This was the best theme song EVER!!!

And Pokemon and Naruto.

i didnt had cartoon network when i was growing up

lol, colour tv was introduced here when I was 16

I remember watching One Piece at 1 in the morning on Cartoon Network.

Anyways, cartoons nowadays have to appeal to children as well as young adults. As a result you get weird artstyles, humour, and layered jokes, some actually really dark or sophisticated.

Back in the 90s the cartoons were funny and made the occasional sexual allusion, but that was it. To be honest? I kind of preferred the 90-00s cartoons.

Adventure Time is a good cartoon, with some of the aforementioned adult jokes, but the rest are very much odd.

…At least we made it through the Flapjack and Chowder era. - Not that the writing wasn’t good: it was all just… exceedingly creepy at times.

(LifeupOmega) #15

People still watch TV in 2016?

(BananaSlug) #16

no way

(FalC_16) #17

we no longer have Cartoon network available, however I loved Road Runner and Tom & Jerry…especially from Chuck Jones ^^

Haven’t watched CN as of recently, We Bare Bears is ok, Adventure Time too.
Sad that Toonami is just Saturday Anime Adult Swim, which was basically what Toonami’s Midnight Run was before Adult Swim existed but daily.

Bunch of the current shows are the cartoon equivalent of just jingling keys in front of a baby, Teen Titans Go! Is a mayor offender, which doesn’t even hold a candle to what the original was, which was completely neutered compared to the comic.

I know, I know it’s aimed at a very young audience and here comes an expected “Kids These Days” rant but by that age I’ve been watching Bambi, The Labyrinth, Charlotte’s web and The Brave Little Toaster.

All remakes are bad as far as I have experienced.
Have you heard the voice of the main character in the latest beyblade? Do children think that super high pitched nasal voices are cool? Maybe that’s why we have “squeakers”. Or maybe it’s to do with the way humans are designed.

r.i.p. cold Lyoko ‘-’ … (including that live-action season which most people don’t talk about.)
