What SD game would you want to see next?

(Xu-B) #201

It doesn’t matter to me what is made. I put Wolf just because RTCW was my first.

Here is what I want in a game:

 1. Solid hit registration. I’m pointing at PB on this one. Ever since the PB update (A + B) in 07 came out along with ETQW, hit registration has gone down the crapper. Don’t believe me? Go play ETQW or ET:W with punkbuster on, then go join a server that has it turned off. Notice the huge difference in the responsiveness of your controls and the effectiveness of your shot (if you have descent aim).

Punkbuster Rant Cont

Evenbalance (Punkbuster) has doing nothing worth while in years as far as anti cheat goes, all the while killing solid game experiences. When hack creaters see Punkbuster, they automatically know how to program their cheats around it. You name the game that is running PB, disabled it and it runs so much better. The worst part is Even Balance knows all about this and simply shrug it off as if it isn’t their problem. This is a company that has simply collected a paycheck for years without putting in any effort. There has got to be another anti-cheat system out there that is actually pro-active in their efforts.

 1. Fast paced. I love the movement speed and ability in RTCW and Wolf:ET. That’s what kept me coming back to them still to this day. I like the ability to be versatile and have the ability to dodge opponents aim.

 2. Competitive. The ability for a match to change direction in any given moment is futile. CoD and Battlefield don’t seem to understand this. It’s what motivates people to actually play through the full rounds.

 3. Don’t make the PC version a console port. There has never been a good port from console to the PC, however you can argue for the ETQW port from PC to console.

3) Cod and Battlefield devs understand the competitive element of MP shooters, they just choose to ignore it.
They take the “Triple A Shooter” approach which is like a prostitute offering “the girlfriend experience”.

lol my thoughts exactly!
Probably unheard of these days but i’d take a W:ET universe setting without the XP and the unlocks and bring things back to RtCW gameplay level. I was never a fan of XP progression in the 1st place and I certainly wouldn’t miss it.

I’m with sock on the proper SP portion and of course everyone else with regards to SDK and community tools. If you insist on releasing on multiple platforms then bring in other companies to handle that.
That sounds exciting, yet there is at least single problem - it’s the cost of the class-change on the fly. Not only in campaigns, also in a single map(with InCampaignMapCount times faster progression?). Keeping it equivalent we’ve got the question: do we prefer more intuitive game, or a deeper one in terms of the games theory(sounds wise, and so it is to keep the penalty for the class-change during a match).

I personally don’t like the idea of the XP nor the unlocking of the abilities, but it makes a deep sense. On the other hand - unlocking such things through the overall playing time - makes no sense, and what remains is purely nothing… from the gaming point of view.

Brink 2 got my vote. There’s more there to flesh out and grow. Much more depth in terms of potential story.

(DarkangelUK) #206

Yeah we’re still wondering how you know that :stuck_out_tongue:

(Loffy) #207

Fps 125, straight shooting guns and fast movement.

(Patriotqube) #208

ad teambased, automatic downloads of maps/mod, a few good classes with a few good weapons, then im in

http://www.shootmania.com/ is currently taking (Until July 2nd) registrations for their Closed Beta.

I don’t think that Splash Damage is trying to make an “esports” game…(too hard, too expensive), but if they are, I think there is a pretty big opportunity at the moment, despite how crowded the f2p market may seem at first glance.

Tribes: Ascend seems to have come upon an impasse with its esports community, as they just stated that they won’t be able to add demo recording. If SD were to have to demo recording and simulated FPV spectate (true FPV spectate probably not possible in UE3) from the start, along with fast and accurate gameplay, then they would make a lot of people very happy.

I wasn’t waiting for this game Spec Ops: The Line
But I was Very happy to bought it I love that game
remind me of Brink in better..I think SD should go for something original like it
Love the gameplay ,story,graphics,ingame video,originality 9.5

If they were able to make a Brink sequel that captured all the quirks and features that made Brink fun and unique, while also having the gameplay play like SD’s ET games, that is what I would like to see.

(Indloon) #213

Seems like community wants Wolf:ET2, but ET series are owned by ZeniMax, however if there would be some chances.

Then this is how the Wolf:ET 2 should look like:

Dramatic but interesting.

(Humate) #214

Usually when a game takes a dramatic or serious approach, the combat system tends to mirror it by using a realistic combat system. Im guessing w:et wouldnt work very well as a cover shooter. :stroggtapir:

(Exedore) #215

Wait, that’s a GREAT IDEA!!!

kidding

(Humate) #216

^

Kind of works in BF3’s rush mode, except no one plays the objective.

(Cep) #217

Well if a serious story line is to be avoided why not come up with something daft like Z, red vs blue robots in unending war!!

[EDIT]
In case you have no idea what I am talking about you younger whipper snappers hear ye here!

(tangoliber) #218

The story should be that you are playing a video game against people online.

Its about realism vs arcade
A story of conflict can be taken either direction.

Nobody said avoid a serious storyline, only avoid it getting in the way of the actual multiplayer experience.
