My router just wiped out all of the open port settings I had set up to play ET. Can someone tell me what ports I need opened?

ET will use whatever port the server is listening on (normally 27960) to communicate with that server, 27950 to query the master server (for the server browser), 27951 to query the MOTD server.
I think that’s it…
If you can open up a range of ports, opening 27950-28000 will catch everything needed for most servers.

Sorry to bring up such an old topic but I just installed a router and I have been having problems joining ET servers. I opened the suggested ports listed here and on about half the servers I try to join, I get “Awaiting challenge . . .” and it just keeps counting up without ever letting me join the server. I was able to connect to these servers before I installed the router so I’m guessing it has something to do with the router. Is there anything else to do even after I open those ports?

Now serious, it’s good you don’t make a new thread bust used the search to come up with this.
Has your PC got Internet connection? Are you sure the ports are really opened in your router? (Sometimes, it doesn’t open them untill you makethe ‘rule’ active)
