What player will you try to avoid

(trollface) #41

There is no debate. You can spin it how you like, fact remains people still enjoy winning more than losing.
There are progamers who dominate other progaming clans. Wether it’s more enjoyable than having an even stuggle is debatable. However, i’m pretty certain that for it to be “the most annoying” thing there must be some kind of mental disorder involved.

Also, i chose this nick myself. It’s kind of symbolic of my tendency to get misunderstood. Common sense is not so common.

Your assuming that everyone thinks the same way as you do. What people find annoying is relative to the person. And he wasn’t talking about ‘just winning’ he was talking about a complete massacre. There’s a difference.

(trollface) #43

I gave a fine example in my post. Dominating someone probably also means a massacre.

But nevermind that nosense. If we’re going to talk assumptions:
You don’t learn anything if you face people who you can beat blindfolded. Doesn’t make you a better player. Some people want to learn to play the game. If you face players who are better than you then you can say “ok how did he/she manage to beat me there” and you analyse the situation. Thus making you a better player and learning from your mistakes.
You’re assuming quite a lot there yourself. For instance that i would enjoy “learning” more than i would enjoy massacring the enemy team.

With that said, you’re kind of avoiding the core issue here, along with some of the other posters. The original comment was:

To me, this is slightly arrogant, but more importantly its kind of a ridiculous claim. Really? Thats the most annoying thing you can think of happening in this game, that you dominate newbies?
I don’t think so. I think it’s a matter of tooting your own horn. And some of you want to be in on the tooting, as if you know where hes coming from. “Oh newbs are soo easy its annoying us so much”.

It’s ridiculous and childish. But maybe i’m the one in the wrong here. The wrong forum.

Finally, if i assumed everyone else thinks the same way as i do, then we wouldn’t have this conversation because then i’d be convinced we’d both be right.

stacking teams is boring and usually leads to server death. Therefore, my fear is stacked teams

(obliviondoll) #45

If I’m dominating a team in Brink (if I turn out to be good in Brink, this is an assumption I’m presently unsure about, but hopeful for), and I can spot an obvious flaw, or a couple of obvious flaws, in their playstyle, and can give advice that will help them to improve, I’ll message the players I saw making mistakes, and politely suggest ways they can improve.

I’ve done the same thing when I’ve been beating players in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. I stopped trying with Resistance: Fall of Man, which was the most recent FPS I played, because after the first couple of times getting accused of hacking/cheating, I realised people in that game weren’t prepared to listen to advice. Every time I’ve picked it up recently, I’ve been accused of being cheap because I know how to use the Bullseye properly. “Tagger noob” was the most common line - I’m not a noob when I headshot you with my tags EVERY TIME, and aim well enough to hit you around corners consistently, and can use the bullet arcs to work out where you’re moving when you’re out of line of sight, then pop up and melee finish you when you come close to the wall and don’t realise where I am even though you should be able to see me on your compass while I’m shooting.

(RAAAAAAAAAAGE) #46

I said “SOME people want to learn to play the game” I didn’t say everyone wanted to. Your obviosuly not one of them which is cool. To each their own.

Thats the most annoying thing you can think of happening in this game, that you dominate newbies?
I don’t think so.

As i said before it’s all relative to the person.

Quoted for truth and agreeance.

(Ragoo) #48

lol, no. I’m just some random pub player and not particularly good. There are loads of player who are way better than me and I don’t have a problem admitting that. Especially my aiming is not good and I don’t expect that to change.

So no, I’m not saying I’m sooo good. I’m just saying that others are sometimes sooo bad that it’s not fun to play against them.

You can easily switch sides in any game on XBox Live. (Using Live functions, not within the game.) Go to view your friends, then move over to the Recently Played list. This will definitely have people from the other team listed. You don’t even have to select one of them, you just have to highlight on them and hit the X button to join the session in progress.

Simple.

Yet another perk of owning one. But BC2 sometimes likes to throw you on the opposite team.

(Herandar) #51

It typically only puts you on the opposite team when you join a session and the team you are trying to join is full.

I think I have had my squad/Party split twice from one game to the next. Always entertaining when no one realizes it and you kill your buddy who’s now on the wrong side.
There is no debate. You can spin it how you like, fact remains people still enjoy winning more than losing.
Erroneous. I enjoy winning 50% of the time, every time.
Common sense is not so common.
Also, I dispute this claim. Common sense, by virtue of its name, is common. If it were selectively-endowed sense or selectively-acquired sense, then don’t you think that it would be called that??? Of course it would. It just seems so obvious to me… But then again, common sense is anything but common.

Lol, yeah right. Most messages received are more along the lines of

“Noob” “U mad, bro?” “Eat a [male phallus][/male phallus]” “Stfu f@g” etc.

I can just imagine the manner in which you’d dole out your well-meaning, most-helpful protips…

Dear Loser (alt: Hapless Victim, if you prefer),

It has come to my attention that you are lacking in any discernible level of skill or ability in Brink.

Allow me to offer you a number of fruitless truisms masquerading as genuine guidance, with the misguided belief that these “gems” will benefit you on your futile quest to, as I imagine it, elevate your gameplay above the pathetic level of mediocrity that it represents.

 1. Always keep your eye on the cross-hair.
 1. There is nothing more important than your Kill/Death ratio. Work on this. I suggest camping in a corner to start out with.
 1. Always buff your teammates, especially those named Jolly… because after all, he did buff your gun earlier in the game… so you kind of owe him. I mean, I shouldn’t have to tell you this.
 1. Disregard females. Acquire experience points.

I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Oblivious Videogame Elitist
I think a good combination would be a Heavy Solder
Primary weapon: Gottlung Mini-gun
Secondary weapon: Lobster GL-06 Grenade launcher (its a medium weapon)

Use the minigun up close/mediam range and use the grenade launcher for spamming choke points at range, or groups of ifantry in a defensive position. Also has grenades + Molotovs and the ability to re-supply themselves.

I think I would want to avoid running into that.
I agree with this :stuck_out_tongue:

I like your example, and outside of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, that’s more than 90% of what I’ve seen too.
That game has shown me the better side of console gamers though.

Advice in Manhunt game-mode, which I’ve given someone who seemed like they needed it:

“You’re ignoring your teammates - stick with them and you’ll get more points for blending as well as having someone watching your back.”

Advice given in Alliance to someone who spent the next week swearing at me for trying to help (and has subsequently messaged me on another account blaming me for the fact that he got banned, suspiciously soon after I reported him for it):

“That droplet icon you would have seen means your teammate has poisoned the target - they can’t stun any more, and they’re about to die for a lot of points. Don’t shoot them or run in for a 100 point kill, it’s just going to lose the game for you and your teammate. If you had gone for the other target instead in the several moments where this happened, we could have easily come first instead of dead-last.”

Comments made about a low-level player who ended up in a FFA match against a swarm of level 50s and still came 3rd:

“Nicely done! Give it another few levels, and you’ll be easily taking first. I know both players above you were using at least one ability each that you don’t have unlocked yet. Well played.”

The last one is someone who I’ve since added as a friend, played alongside multiple times, and seen join one of the top PS3 clans in the game.

It was a reasonable guess when you take it in context though.

Unlike MOST people you’re going to see in MOST online console games, I (along with many other ACB players) offer SPECIFIC advice tailored to the individual’s performance, and will ONLY try to improve a player’s skills if a SPECIFIC flaw has been identified and can be pointed out.

+1

i usually leave when there’re stacked teams, it doesn’t mather if im in the winning or the losing team, it’s just plain boring

Pffffff racist!
