What mouse are you using or would recommend ?

About 13 years ago i bought a Logitech M-BJ69 mouse which is 400dpi (at least i think from googling it) and I’m still using it today. Turns out that 400dpi is pretty low for playing fps and since the stupid thing is Logitech it won’t break so I can buy a new one without feeling wasteful. I’m slowly preparing myself to bite the bullet on this one and stop being a cheapskate so I’m looking for a new mouse that is reasonably priced. I’m not willing to splurge on a Razer, i’m thinking more along the line of 40€, i would go to 50€ if I really liked one.
Right now I’m considering Gigabyte GM-M6900 (3200dpi) which is only 20€ (the cheapskate in me really wants to buy this one) and has good reviews from what i’ve saw. Alternatively Genius MaurusX is 32€ and has 4000dpi and looks okay but Genius DeathTaker at 35€ and 5700dpi seems better value for money and has solid reviews although it’s marketed as a mmo mouse the reviewer said it’s just as good for fps.
Since Logitech served me well for all these years I looked into them and their gaming line up starts a bit higher and one of their entry that looks promising is Logitech G300s (2500dpi) for 50€. It has more programmable buttons but i’m not sure that i will need them or will it justify the price difference over the other ones.

So, what are you guys using and what would you recommend?

Logitech G502, using and recommending it.

For me Logitech G series is the choice for my hand. Had G5 for 3 years, nothing went wrong. Now got G500s and it is great as it got the same shape.
Had Corsair Vengeance m65 mouse. Not for my hands unfortunately. But the mouse itself was fantastic. The weight, the quality, the sound of click everything was in place… Just that goddamn shape. My hand were slightly too big and that impaired the comfort.
I heard that Corsair Raptor M30 (budget one) is a decent choice.
Or try to find G5 somewhere.

Keep your Logitech, 400 dpi is plenty, and you won’t find good mice for that low to be honest

What’s wrong with 400 DPI? It’s all personal and stuff, but most people prefer low DPI (400/800) and fine tune the sentivity instead. What’s your current windows/in game sensitivity?

If you can afford it, I would recommend a zowie, it is a simple gaming mouse which comes with 0 built in driver so there is no post-processing made to the signal.

(Remedica) #6

I would recommend a mouse that fits your hand.

I use a Zowie EC1-A, the size is nice and fits my hand, I only run at 400 DPI anyway.

You can also get it smaller in the 2-A build.

Corsair M65

DPI is being used as a marketing buzzword these days.
I’m talking about those mouse manufacturers that advertise with a huge DPI number, instead of other, more important merits.
Surely higher DPI has to mean better performance? Wrong.
Pro FPS players are generally content with something like 400-800, and that’s all you really need.
I’m playing with 600 dpi, and my sensitivity is set to 55cm mouse movement for a 360 degree turn, according to mouse-sensitivity.com.
Now I can’t say anything about the quality of the sensor in OP’s mouse, because I’m not familiar with it, but I highly recommend trying a Logitech g502, or g400s; if you have to settle.
Some of my friends would also vouch for Final Mouse and Zowie FK 1 and 2, but I haven’t tried those yet.

Edit. do also google fixing and disabling mouse acceleration in windows, and disabling “enhance pointer precision”, if you haven’t.

My in game sensitivity is at 37 now, in windows it’s a bit towards fast on the slider. I need a programmable button on the mouse for push to talk, using one of the keys slows me down in-game and don’t want to use voice detection. From reading around people say it’s best to use default in game mouse sensitivity and then change the dpi on the mouse to what fits. I might go with one of the Logitech G series.
I’m interested in what gives the best bang for buck as that is my usual guideline when buying stuff.

Zowie FK2.

I used to have a Zowie AM, but I gave it to my mam because she is left handed (it is designed to work for either hand). Best mouse I ever had, with one exception, it doesn’t have a braided cable, so using it with a wooden desk results in cable drag.

The Zowie FK2 is just slighty worse than the AM, it is larger and slightly heavier, and still comes with a rubber cable. But if you get a mouse cable holder (and I have the Zowie Camade, just because the colours match) you can deal with it.

If you can, get the AM version (it is a few years old now, and I think discontinued), that thing is the lightest and most accurate tracking mouse you can find (and get a mouse cable holder too to compensate for the cable drag), failing that the FK2 is a slightly smaller version of the FK1 (and I mean very slight here). And it can still be used for lefties.

It depends on how big your hands are and how much desk space you have. But there are very few mice out there that have brilliant tracking sensors (the deathadder range does too, but those things are too big and too heavy for my taste).

Zowie FK1 here. Tried both and FK1 felt slightly better in my hand. I’m sure I would get used to FK2 though.

I’m using a Logitech g700s wired/wireless mouse. All the buttons I could want (13 though i only really use 6), on the fly dpi +/- buttons, 5 or 6 different programmable layouts, etc etc. In battlefield 4 I couldn’t tell a difference in wired vs wireless but in DB there is a noticeable delay when wireless.

I looked all 3 up, would still rather have the AM, that thing was the balls. But failing that I went for the FK2 as it was slightly smaller than the FK1, not by much though. Still though, top mice for FPS gaming. Sensor and weight are out of this world, they laugh at Razer products.

Just as @srswizard said…DPI is a marketing buzzword and used to try and get people to buy something who haven’t researched enough to know better. I play at 400DPI myself. The main thing is that you find a mouse that fits your hand comfortably, has known good quality ratings in regards to not falling apart in 6 months and performs all the functions you want.

I personally use a Roccat Kone XTD Optical (they have a laser version too). The optical is slightly more accurate than the laser in how I use a mouse (low DPI/sensitivity) and the mouse is also quite large. I have large hands and a lot of mice are too tiny so my hand can get cramped. The Kone XTD does not have that issue. It’s basically a Cadillac.

I’ve had tons and tons of mice over the years. Cheap Compaq mouse, Razer Boomslang 2000, MS Intellimouse 3.0 (the first great mouse IMO), mx518’s, g400’s, multiple other Razer, MS and Roccat and the Kone XTD Optical I am using right now is by far my favorite mouse. I’ve actually been considering buying a few more of them just to keep them as backups in case they ever get discontinued.

I use a Razor Deathadder, It’s pretty damn good.
Used to use the Logitec MX518, best mouse ever made. But they don’t make them anymore.
I play with 3500 dpi and I like it that way, thank you very much. High DPI, low ingame sensitivity, that’s how we do.

(NaIKoLDY) #17

Im using a R.A.T. 7 and i love it

(Ctrix) #18

That just looks unwieldy as all hell.

It takes a while to get use to…but the options to adjust so it fits u are endless…so i can say its the best mouse i have ever used…but as always the chice of mouse is very personal…whats best for me sucks for another
