An SMG Soldier… or

An SMG Engineer who has no objective to complete. (ie. Gold Rush, needa steal gold from vault)

it just really annoyed me this one round cuz the vault was heavily guarded (2 mg42’s, with field ops and medics) but all the engineers on the team continued to use their Thompsons. I kept yelling at them to use rifle grenades but they wouldn’t cooperate. And not as if they had a flak jacket or anything, they were only level 2-3 engs. I then even suggested they play as a medic, but still no change.

I usually go medic once the bank doors open and then go engineer again once or if the gold is on the truck.

The answer to the question is soldier with smg,u can take out MG-42 with primed nades and if ur good with smg u can do alot of damage with it,when ur on a pub server u cant always have people doing the right thing so you just after get on with it or disconnect.

While I do agree that changing class at that moment would be better I disagree with the idea that they should switch to the rifle just to get the rifle nades. Personally I’m much more deadly with my trusty SMG and would also refuse to follow some guys ‘order’ to switch to another weapon.

While it’s true that nades could take out those mg42, SMG can do the same, or PF, or a coordinated attack, best covered by CovOps smoke. There are many ways to get the gold, don’t expect that your way is the only working one :slight_smile:

i agree with cyber-knight someone should have been using rifle grenades anyway, retrieving the gold is the perfect job for the rf, because it is also the best weapon for taking out the crew served mg’s too, and yes you can do the same job with a normal nade, but its always nice to have a couple of rf’s on your team.

if they had lvl4 lw then they would have no excuse what so ever, as they culd have switched to dual pistols soon as they fired :D, i love lvl4 engineers, flak jacket with rf and dual pistols, thats my favourite

Soldier or engineer really doesn’t matter to me, as long as they’re going for the objective. Attack!

Rifle grenades are the dream weapon for clearing the vault of MG42s. A good r-nader doesn’t even get seen by the MG42. What you do is stand to the side of the entrance and aim up and at the middle column on the wall. The nade bounces off and lands at the MG42 guy giving him 0 time to react.

The same can be done with tighter angles to take out medics that like hiding around the corner near the door.

A good rifle grenadier can be an invaluable resource on most maps. A bad one is a hazard to all but the enemy. But the problem is, how do you get better if every time you try and practice every whinges and complains, or tries to vote you off for using a “n00b” weapon.

Personally I hate the allied rifle. Not being able to reload between clips and the smaller mag makes it a pretty poor weapon. Since I’m usually making the gold run solo on pub servers, I’d much rather stick with my trusty Thomspon to get me through the courtyard and past the gold defenders.

Those 8 nades can create a whole lot of chaos. Just start tossing them all over the place once you get to the doors. Getting a nade near a MG guy will usually make him undeploy to move out of the way, effectively taking him out of the equation. And unlike the rifle nade, you can quickly switch weapons to take out anyone who rounds the corner to engage you.

In general, its pretty futile trying to tell other people how to play the game on pub servers. General requests like help at the tank or whatnot can sometimes work. But don’t bother trying to explain how to use the rifle nade to someone who isn’t using it. =)

I consider that class a bug.

And I love that one. I usually swap to medic like Englander suggested, but with lots of MG’s in the bank I’m very found of the engies 8 nade-places + mines. Nade-rifle is also good to clear the bank, but I prefer SMG and nades.
