By jumping before you reach the fence… and again why are you looking down lol?
What is the SMART button?
I assume that the slide will start a few meters BEFORE I reach the fence?
While vaulting over the fence would require pressing the spacebar closer to the fence.
And why wouldn’t I look down? I don’t need something to happen I don’t want to happen.
As far as I know, looking down for sliding does not mean you have t look at your feet but somewhere below the horizontal.
PS:
I am not saying SMART is a bad thing, I think it will help out a lot of players, but I was thinking about that you could disable it. Much like in ETQW with “advanced flight controls” or something.
I think it will be more… avoidable than we think. I don’t know if the smart would start THAT much before getting to the fence (I’ll have to watch the SMART demo again). Although i do see where you are going from, it will be TOTALLY funny if you were running over to pick something up against a wall and when you look down on it you get “sucked” into SMART under a fence lol
If you tap the button and don’t hold it, you’ll sprint but not activate SMART.
Stupid trivial information request of the day: Does sprinting cancel iron sights? I’m pretty sure it did in ETQW and it annoys me in every game where it doesn’t.
So sprint is a toggle?
Please tell me i can turn that off along with SMART and do everything manual…
Hate to say it, but yes i’d rather have full control over my sprint rather than just tap and run… but I think it’s more out of habit than functionality… I’m just not a fan of tap and run myself. Curious about the idea of making smart automatic or manual, I think I’d like that as well.
Sprinting does not cancel ironsights, rather ironsights cancels sprinting. This is because ironsights is always a hold interaction, whereas sprinting is either toggle or hold. Sort of a universal usability rule. If you find it a huge issue, I’d suggest customizing your weapons so that using ironsights isn’t really necessary.
I’d be curious at the delay between dropping ironsight, and being able to sprint. One of the annoyances i’ve found from other shooters with IS is having to wait the full animation till the gun is at that hip again before I can sprint.
Is scoping relatively quick a la ETQW? sorry for drilling you with questions lol
This is an animation statemachine thing, as you have to do a lot of additional blending to remove the delay (sacrificing memory). If you’re a game where mobility is important, this is a reason to make the ironsights up/down times very fast.
We don’t have the functionality to turn the toggle off… but as for myself, I just never use toggle. I’ve gotten a sense of the angles needed for SMART to activate, and just sprint around with the button held and something unwanted happens very rarely. People who haven’t played the game tend to pick this up very quickly as well, which is great.
Yeah, I figured I’d probably hold it down anyways, it doesnt make you jump kick off a wall if you’re near it or anything crazy like that right? and the fast ironsights is good news, you guys are so top notch, thx for answering Exedore.
May seem dumb and obviously redundant a question.
But why not include a +SPRINT keymap on the PC?
