We keep getting this message in the console. We are running several custom maps and have enabled downloads (redirected to a separate download server). Is this a result of people manually disconnecting before the download is finished, or are the getting disconnected for other reasons?
What is "acking disconnect download" ?
I’ve seen this a couple of times on my server too, I thought it was just that these players cancelled their download or couldn’t/wouldn’t download from the web for some reason, and therefore were sent to the alternate address I set up. If this is not so I’m also interested in knowing what the cause is (since mostly the downloads work properly, as seen from the users starting download, beeing redirected, and after a little while joining the game)
I still have to test this, so all of the following could be a complete lie, but:
There is a server-side cvar called sv_wwwDlDisconnected. If set to “1”, clients will disconnect from the game server when downloading a map or mod from the www/ftp redirect server. Could it be that the disconnect messages you’re getting are a result of this setting?
This is correct. The message means the player connected, the server said they needed some more PK3s, but they can not remain connected while downloading them, then the client said ‘OK’ and disconnected. Personally I think its best to set sv_wwwDlDisconnected to 1 as letting people stay connected wastes a ton of slots with useless spectators and also can create problems when the map changes and it interrupts their downloads.
No, not in my case at least, I assumed that setting was to force disconnected download only, and have not enabled it. What I’m getting is that clients usually download from http-redirect, but sometimes the “disconnect ack dl” message comes up, which therefore should indicate either something wrong on the client (like the client not allowing autodownload) or on the website (dunno what tho…) at least as I see it ?
I’ll try to check the logs better for the fault (I may have to enable a higher log setting) but whenever it’s working it goes something like
clientConnect : 657
clientDownload : 657
Redirecting client “Mr White” to http://<my homepage>/etmain/rtcc2.pk3
Redirecting client… (sometimes repeats 2-3 times)
clientBegin : 657
ET PB Server : NewConnectionSlot…
and so the player enters the game. So usually it works fine.

Every new person that connects to my server prints one of those acknowledgement messages in the game, disconnect, and comes back a few minutes later once they have the PK3. Nobody has seemed to have any trouble downloading or connecting to my server as far as I can tell so that message is normal if you enable the disconnected downloads.
Sorry, maybe I’m not explaining myself good enough, but I’m not using disconnected download, most users download from http-redirect, but still there are some that give an error, and I was wondering why, could it be that the clients does not have autodownload enabled for example.
It should probably not be the server since most users work properly.
disconnected download only applies to http redirect I think. I am using disconnected www downloads on my server.
My only point is I am fairly certain that that is NOT an error, but simply a notice that the person who just connected to the server is disconnecting in order to get files.
