What if there were no levels in the first place?

Nothing would happen. People will still see that the enemy team stomps them and the game will put multiple really good people into one team instead of splitting them up.
Like it does in CMM. Where you don’t see levels. Oh snap.
Not that hard to make a mechanic that goes like: “Oh I see there are 2 people on team A with 10K points while team B is at 3K points max. Let me put one of the 10K guys in team B or even both of them”
Putting a stupid bandaid on an issue to hide it will not resolve the issue and make new players not see it.

If you poop under your friends carpet, he’ll still smell it.

youre just proving my point that people are shunning high levels because they have better aim than most.

I dislike losing to an unfair team when I waited for 2 years for a CMM that promised me to balance out the game.
You will not find a single player in any game that likes being stomped on. Ever.
I’m fine with high levels. I’m not fine with high levels being dicks to anyone besides them.

from what i saw on my friends while doing CMM they got pretty balanced matches most of the time, hell they said its kinda better than ranked because theres more people playing in it.

back before the CMM there are these players who jumps between teams, not because hes balancing the team, but hes trying to get easy win. And people who did this arent just low levels, there are level 30s and even level 80s still doing this.

the team jumper abuse is fixed by CMM, and many other abuse people usually do in server browser. We didnt give the proper merit on how CMM fixes many of these loopholes.

You will not find a single player in any game that likes being stomped on. Ever.

you say its a stomp, i say thats challenge.
whats the point of playing easy matches, everyone can win an easy matches.
i never whine when i saw a level 200 stomping my team really hard. I just have to try harder.

then when i tried harder my own teammate call me “Try Hard” and ask me to just let them plant and lose the match.

I agree on removing the levels ingame, keep it in the main menu to have some progression but there is no added value by showing a player level ingame. In worse case it is even make the community focus on level and not on individual player skills. “Oh they have a lv100+ they win easily” While a skilled lv6 can probably kill him with ease. In the end level only represent playtime and not player skill and there is no need to show playtime in a match…

Nothing worth having, is won easily

Where did I say I want easy matches once? I want balanced matches. There is a big difference between easy matches and balanced matches.
And most of the time it’s easy matches for the high skill players who got grouped in one team.
If I lose a 15 minutes OBJ with action and a close end, I have more fun than getting crapped on for 15 minutes by 2 high-level players.
Is that so hard for you to to understand?
And well good for your friends and their balanced CMM.
I just wanted to do one match, and the very first one looked like that after a minute.

Spoiler alert. We got crapped at.
I was afk typing this for about 2 minutes and this poor team didn’t manage to get more points than me.
Either I get horribly crapped at by multiple high-levels, or I get a fully disabled team against people who can play.
All matches, every match.

(watsyurdeal) #25

But that’s just it, a balanced match means everything mathematically is set up for a fair game, but it could still easily be a roll or a stalemate.

If you want to get mad, get mad at the fact that people come and go and don’t actually participate in any match making.

Well… what? One game and you got leavers and complain after 1 minute, plus you didn’t help your team because you wrote this message here???
Actually, wtf? Second thing blowing my mind this morning.

Like @GatoCommodore said, you have several options as a fellow experienced player of DB:

  1. Take over the responsibility, carry your team and try as hard as you can. (heal the shit out of your team, do a sneak repair, kill and gib their best player on full spawn)
  2. Acknowledge the fact that a match with leavers (you know maybe 'cause of life) can never be balanced and leave yourself.

Also what you can do, is pause the game in the beginning while pointing out the leavers. Let there be backfilling and hope for the best.

I had a game yesterday, where we lost at first stage terminal. In my team, there were 2 very special guys: one was a 3/19 fletcher that flamed me for being a bad medic from minute one. The other guy was a 1/31 skyhammer. Of course those players would not contribute to the team. They were slow and had no clue what was going on.
But still, I tried my best and did what I can to at least get the first stage. I told them to focus on capturing the flag but to be honest: I didn’t know that you can capture the flag until playing terminal the 20 time.
As I pointed out, we ended up losing but we had some shots to get at least first stage. I got second highest score of the game, it was not a too bad game.

That’s of course a possibility, but judging from the screenshots above that looks like something mathematics crapped out after disagreeing with something spicy.

If there were no levels, then:

People would complain that games are imbalanced and SD needs some kind of visual system to tell just by looking at the scoreboard how good everyone in the game is

And then a level system or similar would be born.

Or it was just trying to put a match together because otherwise the que time would take FOR EVER

I’m sorry, but I myself can sometimes singlehandedly take on CMM teams while the rest of my team farts around in spawn. Sometimes the CMM seems to balance that I’m equal to 6 idiots so it balances me with them. shrugs

Carry harder or play stopwatch.

And then you have those times I’m absolute poop and I feel guilty because I’m actually kinda dragging my own team down.

(TheStrangerous) #31

Finally, leveled up away from 69!

Now I’m 70!

Maybe we should just completely abandon the idea of levels and rank people by the amount of idiots they are capable of carrying - the Idiot Carrying Quotient, or ICQ.

“Wow, have you heard? @Xenithos leveled up and now as an ICQ of 4.” - “Dang!”

But then you will still get “OMG this no-life has an ICQ of 25, wows thats so unbalanced they have 3 ICQ 50’s on their team” etc. I know it was a joke obviously, but if levels get replaced with any other numerical system people will still complain about it.

(kopyright) #34

At least it would be skill-based. Even a bad player will eventually gain levels through sheer playtime, but it takes a non-idiot to carry an idiot.

what nonsense you write

(henki000) #37

what if there were no levels in the first place?

ok

would people accept the fact that skills and practice is all that matter?

yes

would people with decent aim will still be shunned?

no

im pretty sick with all this stupid balance stuff, making people with decent aim somehow the one who wronged the whole game.

ok

can i just play in peace without the whining about people with high level dont have a life?

no

is this 2016 down time all over again?

no

(GatoCommodore) #38

@henki000
you supposed to answer all of that with a no

(henki000) #39

@GatoCommodore

You are right. Skill and practice isnt all that matter, there is also computer, internet and peripheral devices. There is also time, element and destiny.

The gold that is this second page of this thread is incredible.

@kopyright
Is it bad that I don’t even think that’s a terrible idea?
