What Ideas do you have for Brink, if it was upgraded?

[QUOTE=dunway;350510]This was the trailer that hooked me a year or so ago, wish we could do what this video shows…

OMG!!.. I agree with this video… more moves like that; … and the colour pink, you guys (as in ppl) must think that I want a BRIGHT pink colour that stanads out like a red bullseye to be a target practice… lol…

What I meant was a soft hint of pink on the uniforms like a camouflage with slight pink on it… something like that to make my character more feminine.

Anyway… I’m really enjoying reading everyones sugestions, more maps, destructible enviroments would be fun, duel whielding weapons would be soo cool…and so on…

-A finished, polished, bug free, smooth less choppy game
-Better net coding and servers
-Better optimized not just for consoles but PC aswell
-Less time and money spent advertising but more on the actual game
-Lobbies
-Improved SMART system (less slow/glitchy/choppy)
-Dual pistols (suits Brink)
-DEFINATLY more maps, if its a multiplayer only game (with bot mode) and is full price it should have atleast 16 maps
-NOT rely heavily on BOTS, I want to play with PEOPLE and with EASE and as STANDARD
-Have a CO-OP mode for BOTS, an a MULTIPLAYER mode for PEOPLE (not all mixed together)
-An actuall story and that makes easy sense
-Better thought out, less linear maps that use the SMART system in many ways and let it have more of an effect on the game
-More diverse objectives (not scripted to be the exact same each time, like escort)
-Wider range of objectives
-If your goingto have bots improve them
-All objectives to equally have a big effect on the game
-Better thought out objectives that use the whole of the map and not just battles on small parts of it
-No exclusive pre-order bonus like the greeneye scope that does the same as the ‘acog’ but anyone using it is at an advantage to any1 with the standard sight
-More weapons
-More customisation
-More balanced weapons
-More balanced maps
-More balanced everything
-More BRINK

I agree with all i´ve read so far but my main issue with brink after the bugs / perfomance are the brink gamemodes.

I really think some maps should be revised for multiplayer, for example aquarium in singleplayer is fine but for multiplayer whats the point of planting the bomb if a lot of times you can´t plant it, and if you can´t do the 1st objective you won´t play the main mission of the map and that goes for all brink current maps.

I wish that we have in the future maps with a more simple gamemode or at least that does not require to do side missions in order to go to the main mission.

Im a decent player but its no fun at all to attack in some maps, when you have good players in both teams the defensive team wins, look at clan games to proove my point, in pubs works kinda the same, if both teams had to attack and to defend the game would be a lot more balanced and competition friendly.

I would also enjoy brink to be a litle bit more fast paced maybe 10% speed increase for all classes / less respaw time maybe to 15 seconds instead of the actual 20 seconds.

Also the current reserved slots system in brink can be really annoyng i keep tryng to enter servers with 15/16 14/16 13/16 and can´t connect or guess wich ones have reserved slots.

demo/record editing feature with multiple and fixed camera views.

I’m kinda fine with the game. But I would love more maps, appearance options and generally regular content updates. Current BRINK would do just fine with monthly content updates.

Yeh so would I actually, it is a slow paced game, playing many other games then playing brink it feels your moving at a snails pace, the light is abit faster, but still slower paced than other games.

It makes brink what it is and gives it some of its character and changing the pace could ruin that, but i think a slight 10% or less increase would only do good.

Personly i think the reason it is slow paced is not just because of the game and gameplay. But because the game runs choppy and not very smooth, its not optimized well and even at 100 fps when you move fast it still chokes and feels choppy.
Just look at the gameplay trailers before the game came out, notice he turns very slowly when moving so you dont notice or cant see the ‘choppyness’

You on PC? If so do you increase the FoV? ui_fov <VALUE>

(NigelDocker) #27

I play on the PS3, ive got a decent PC, but I perfer playing most games sitting on my couch chillin with a controller, if you use a controller on the PC your at a disadvantage to everyone else online, plus hackers are too common for me on some PC games.

Is this some sort of trick question? lol. I played on my friends PC rig I dont know what settings he uses, all max settings looked good, although with max settings his PC could only run Brink at 60 fps… His rig is a beast and can run Crysis at 80 fps maxed. Poor optimization

Crysis 1? that game is ancient. Something isn’t right with his system it sounds like.

I get 135+fps 2560x1600 (1600p). Editing the field of view is a command line parameter. It increases the amount you see on screen and provides a better sense of speed.

You know I have a better idea of where you are coming from with you complaints. I watch my boy play on 360 all the time. His game looks horrible compared to a good PC at high resolutions. And it seems to run very slow. It may be locked at 30fps. That would really suck for console gamers.

Can any one refute or verify this?

Man you might as well be speaking Gaelic. I have no clue what you mean. That’s not my experience on my PC at all. Runs quite buttery.

No Crysis 2 with the Dx11 patch, Ino what fov is lol, jyst said i dont know what settings my friend had it on.
Its not just my friend with a beast computer that can run Brink at lower fps than other games graphicly better than Brink, its poorly optimise and can be a demand on certain systems.

Even when its at 100 fps on the PC the game still chokes and is abit choppy, its just the way the game runs n how it is.
Lol im not comparing using a 5 yr old console

And I’m saying that’s not my experience. I’m also doubting your friend comp is optimized properly. At 25060x1600 I get 62fps in Crysis 2 with the DX11 patch. At 1900x1200 I get 79-83. In Brink at the highest resolution for a single monitor (which is the coveted 2560x1600) I get over 135fps…maxing out at 167-170fps. That tells me something is amiss with your boy’s god box.

Another thing I noticed is you say you know everything about the game and the game runs choppy for everyone because it runs choppy on your boy’s comp. SO many absolutes with finite reference material.

(NigelDocker) #33

No, Brinks just a badly optimized game and doesnt work well with some hardware, many people know this, lol.

(Bittermetal) #34

oh is your boy on AMD hardware? That would explain a lot. I know many AMD gpu users are still having issues and choppy play.

(NigelDocker) #35

I Look on a video on youtube of someone else running it at 100fps n its the same, its the way the games made n runs, its brink, its what gives it ‘character’ but it is choppy, its brink.

(NigelDocker) #36

nope nothing to do with it not working properly, game works fine jus demanding on his system than other games graphicly better, poorly optimized. If the game didnt work due to the hardware issues brink had, it didnt run at 100fps and work normally, it ran at like 15 lol loik on the forums. he can run it at 100fps turning something down to medium. It works fine the games just how it is.
There is many who have this, its just a poorly optimized game, its pretty well known

(Bittermetal) #37

nope. Its not. but you know, I see, how it works for PC, being a console player.

What I know… the game is locked at 30 fps if you play campaign no matter what your comp says the fps is. Or create a custom game for yourself and friends. If you play through online servers then its not locked at 30fps.

(NigelDocker) #38

Thats what i meant to say (as opposed to my friend running it at 100fps, read back)

(Bittermetal) #39

And still Gaelic to me. Mine runs buttery.

(NigelDocker) #40

Runs buttery, but the game itself is choppy, its the way it is, im not talking performance hit, its the way the game is made and runs, like when you slide or grab ledge it isnt that smooth, its done in stages and blended together, and when you rune with the gun, its choppy, its brink, its what gives it ‘character’ but it is choppy
