What happens if you lose?

Tickets???

Here’s how stopwatch worked in W:ET and ET:QW:

MAP 1

Round 1 - Team A attacks, Team B defends. Team A sets a time to complete the map.

Round 2 - Team B attacks, Team A defends. Team B tries to beat the time set by Team A.

MAP 2

Round 1 - Team B attacks, Team A defends. Team B sets a time to complete the map.

Round 2 - Team A attacks, Team B defends. Team A tries to beat the time set by Team B.

Typically in W:ET and ET:QW they weren’t that many public Stopwatch servers, normally they were private and used for holding matches between clans, public ones though do indeed let you join mid way.

RtCW was stopwatch all the way for me, and it rocked. As Chris said there weren’t that many W:ET SW servers… here’s hoping Brink brings them back into fashion.

(tokamak) #43

Stopwatch is played out of the context of the campaign. You can just pick any level and have a ball with it.

(Jess Alon) #44

Well at least there’s “Campaign” to bring the newbz up to speed.

(Protector) #45

why is everything being compared to ETQW? aren’t brink and ETQW completely different games?

(Apples) #46

Not that much in the big picture, but yes in the gaming experience.

ETQW is the latest game developed by SD, thats why people refer to it, and my big fear is that the game will be more cod’ish that etqw’ish (see my bazzilion rant post about it…)

Peace

(Protector) #47

Isn’t ETQW quite large scaled compared to brink which from what I have seen looks like a claustrophobic maze of shipping containers? What you have to remember is that COD is the most popular game around at the moment and all developers will look to what makes it so special and “adopt” some of their styles.

(Apples) #48

Thats why I told you it was different in the gaming experience, but not that much in the objective teambased gameplay as a big picture.

CoD is popular indeed, but ripping off all the features of other popular games (ala W:ET) to take many stuff on CoD is not a superb idea IMO. I still hope I’m wrong and the game will be smooth…

Peace

(Protector) #49

It does seem they have something new and fresh here so I think we definitely wont see ETQW or COD but instead a brand new franchise with expansions or DLC to follow.

(Apples) #50

Thats what I hope too

(tokamak) #51

Campaign seems to have a high replay value, how awesome is it to put the other team on the bench while you proceed? The attached consequences raise the stakes.

(BioSnark) #52

have fun if your team sucks.

(tokamak) #53

Don’t worry, I will.

(BioSnark) #54

The game types, class based system/class mechanics, upgrades/xp stuff seems to be coming out of Splash Damage’s experience with the Enemy Territory series.

(Humate) #55

Exactly.

I doubt the majority of the players will have the attitude of: “oh no we better win, otherwise we will have to play this map for the 164565th time.”

A more realistic view would be, the player ragequits and plays offline where they have more control over the outcome.

(.Chris.) #56

Or goes play objective mode.

(Vaporman) #57

Or sticks in CoD:BO for a while in order to be reminded of why it is they should put BRINK back in and stop sulking over it.

(Humate) #58

Or goes play objective mode.

^Yep that too

In other news:
ive been trying to think of the last time ive played the singleplayer portion of an FPS where its also had multiplayer. :expressionless: :scratcheshead:

(tokamak) #59

Well both COD MW 1 and 2 are an amazing singleplayer experience.

(Humate) #60

I have both of those and BO.
But yeh, jumped straight into MP for all those games.

For Brink - i’ll give campaign mode a shot, purely out of respect for sd.
