It’s a quick and easy indication of how long someone has been here as well as how active they are
Also it’s nice to see comparisons between different sites at a glance as well as have a little cheer each time you break the next century

Correct me if I’m wrong, but reputation can go up as well as down
This is my major complaint against it
How can you work so hard to build something up to have it taken away so easily
Additionally it penalises active members for no good reason
