What do you think about the new crafting/dusting system?

I think this system COULD be great.

I think it’s current version screws over people with inventories i.e. me.
basically this, also i feel like the new system was introduced to make cobalts more valuable to new players which will spent 7 bucks on crafting kits to get their first cobalt faster. Secondly, why would anyone spent 25k on a gold card if he could make a cobalt with a bit more grinding? I fcking HATE the new system. @$!# veterans over in favour for cashgrabbing new players again. Way to go SD
Well for me, I’m starting a swiss gold collection for the mercs that I play. I just love the skin and I just prefer it over cobalts. I dumped some silvers and golds that I dont use and I started crafting. Working on my Stoker and got 2 of the 3 that I want in swiss red in 3 tries.

Also I have this thing where I want my medics in cobalt.

(FalC_16) #22

I think I just keep grinding leads and irons and wait until I have enough material to craft what I want. With these prices I will not even try to bother crafting silvers, golds or cobalt. I’m utterly disappointed.

(Ohsnapkline) #23

yeah its pretty bad

(DMaster2) #24

I like it but it needs fine tuning on the crafting prices.

(N8o) #25

Change prices = better system.

(PanderingPanda) #26

I am not a fan of this new crafting system. I do like the idea of recycling cards though, but I did like the old trade up system a little more. I have made many great gold and silver cards along the way to a cobalt and have ended up keeping most of those cards. This system kind of takes that away. Prices with credits on crafting cards is bollocks now.

(SuperSrub) #27

Sure, this is my first post, and yeah, that makes me a brainless n00b giving just cause to anyone and everyone to lay into me like a boxing bag, but hear me out.

This system is not good.

It is bad.

Just because the devs injected this virus into the veins of a dying beast in a poor attempt to cater towards “the future,” the newcomers, it doesn’t mean that the veterans, self-proclaimed and otherwise, have to take it in stride with all the good this most recent update has brought to the table.

The fresh coats of paint applied to the Execution maps were something I had always wanted without knowing it, and came as an unexpected surprise. (For me, anyways.) The “balancing” of weaponry shook me to my very core in that it wasn’t outrageously off the mark. I personally didn’t think that the pistols needed any buffing, (well, maybe the semi-auto handbag did just a touch) but I will never complain about improving sidearms.

Ever.

The crafting system implemented in the Classy Art Hole update is unnecessary to say the least. Although beneficial to new kids on the block, what with the value of being able to crush those gross Lead loadouts, it is safe to say that anybody that had an inventory before the update is less than pleased. The exponentially diminished value of rarities the higher up you go is honestly a joke. I’m waiting for a patch that will never come to tell me this was just a prank.

Now I know 166 hours isn’t an impressive figure by any means, those were spent playing, enjoying, and EXPERIENCING Dirty Bomb for what it was, and let me be the first to tell you that it was a blast. Post-update, it is still my go-to FPS on PC, but I have yet to touch that horrid recycling machine. Hopefully Splash Damage and Nexon will peruse through their very own forums and find out just how disliked this system truly is. I know this blurb strayed away just a touch from the matter at hand, but I would like to leave you all (by “all” I mean you, just you, for making through 'til the end; thanks dog ) with a little something to consider:

If the devs truly do intend on listening to the community and the rock-hard, stone-cold numbers, and even just for standing up against injustice, (not the biggest problem in the world right now, but go for it anyways) let’s all boycott the crafting system together.

Thanks for your time. Let’s play dirty.

(zRainbowz) #28

The price to craft gold or cobalt are way too expensive

Also, the new crafting system takes up the fun to trade up useless cards

(acrobaticBudgie) #29

I like that I was able to clean up my loadouts from 8 pages down to 3 by getting rid of all the lead and iron cards I never use.

I’m not a collector but having got my first cobalt from a case, I was looking forward to getting some more. Under the new system I think I’ll be back to waiting to see what I get from case drops.

Cobalt loadouts are too expensive in both credits and fragments, though I appreciate that retains the rarity and gives me something to work towards once I’ve unlocked all the mercs - got to spend those credits on something, right?

Overall, meh, it is what it is. I have more of an issue with the name ‘crafting’ as it implies that I’ll have more choice or control over the loadouts produced whereas the new system appears to introduce complexity to the trade-up system for the sake of it rather than the necessity.

It could be great… but it’s not. That’s pretty much the story of Dirty Bomb. I stopped playing for a while now and lately I’ve been on the forums a little bit to see what’s goin’ on. I haven’t experienced the new system for myself although I have heard of how it works and saw a video of someone’s experience with it and breaking it down. I see that SD haven’t lost their ways yet and they’re still on their quest to make things in a way so that it looks fantastic but when you do some research and break it down, you find out that they’re trying to screw you over some more in a different way then previously. Hopefully, at some point, they will run out of ideas and will start to come up with actual content. But then you know that within that new content, there will be more desperate attempts to screw you over some more.

At least there’s a new map… That’s not too bad. Half a year after the map had gone through testing by the players, they finally released it. I seriously think, based on the game and it’s constant use of the RNG system, that they use RNG to know if they’re actually going to work on something that day. Pretty sure Exedore yells out a number between 1-10000 and if that number isn’t landed on, they slack and just look at previous Dirty Bomb streams and count the number of times they said the word “Soon” and “I’ll write that down” then laugh about it.

(acrobaticBudgie) #31

You know that in order to produce new content, they’ve got to be able to pay the development team, right?

I think this complaint is common with free-to-play games but you have to remember they’re a business, not a charity and it’s not in their or the players interests to spend all their time developing new features if the game dies on its arse because no one’s funding it.

Don’t forget that the people posting on this forum are in the minority of players. The number of players prepared to seek out the official forum and post their thoughts is very small compared to the number actively playing the game, especially for a f2p title.

(Orivar) #32

1/10 would try again.

(Infected) #33

The new system might be cheaper credit wise, but you have to spend it in one go. This means, if you want a cobalt, you have to grind till you get 50k credits, which might take a while and is quite unsatisfying. It’s just grinding for credits.
In the old system you got nice silver and gold cards on the way. This, at least for me, made the bad cobalt trade in the end more bearable, increased variety in my rarities and card pool.

With the new system I’ll propably just go for carbon silvers and ignore the higher rarities. But so far I haven’t crafted even one card…

(Merci1ess) #34

Really? Fuck me… I had no idea.

I know they’re a business and with the free-to-play model they have going for themselves, they have no choice but to make revenue in some kind of way. I don’t have a problem with that. Where the problem lies is that that is the only thing they’re doing at this point. They’re spending the money you give them to come up with a new system so that you can spend more money into to fund another system they’ll come up with later on made for, you guessed it, you to spend more money into. All that and no content what so ever. But it’s true… hang on… we have to give them props for that new map. clap clap clap

Yes, there is indeed a small amount of people posting on these forums. But there’s also reddit which I’m sure there are posts and complaints about this new shitty system. Probably mostly just players playing the game because they don’t really give a fuck. They’ll play until they get their fill of the same stupid content and leave to play something else.

They need to change the staff. There’s no excuse on how slow the development of this game is going. It’s not a funding problem here. It’s flat out slacking. I don’t think Splash Damage is on the verge of bankrupcty and if they are… they’re not doing a great job at getting back on track.

^^^^^^^^^

Winner winner chicken dinner.

INB4 Here’s Turtle guys, and the shield that’s been in the game files for 2-3 years.

For only $14.99 you can unlock Turtle (** yo credits) and also receive an OBSIDIAN loadout for a merc you may or may not own or play, but wait there’s more!

The obsidian loadout will be a fixed loadout. Sorry guys the obsidian loadout will not be fixed, more RNG for ya’ll.

(Ptiloui) #36

As a lot of people said pefore, making your way up to the cobalt with the old systemn was much more satisfying, because you find useable cards on your way.

With this system, why would i craft a “middle” tier card (bronze, silver and gold) while i can directly craft the highest tier ? Furthermore, i shouldn’t craft “middle” tiers because it will make me lose some currency for my way up to cobalt. With this system, the devs should at least remove lead and iron rarity because they are more useless as they were before.

Yeah, they’re business, but you know, we have an expression in France that we can translate to “The customer is the king” (Interplay said “By players, for players”). A lot of people that play the game for a looooong time still get invovled in the development of Dirty Bomb by giving the devs their feedback and thoughts of what it could be really awesome. And in the end, devs seems to dont give a single f*** of what players are thinking about this game. Just take a look at this poll. A vast majority don’t want this sytem. Why a business man wouldn’t hear his customer’s thoughts about his product if he wants to make money ? To sell smth, you have to make people WANT to buy it.

Just take a look at the steam charts. The last peak (Aimee event) is at 6k players (which is bad compared to the same period one year ago). It tells you how this game is popular sarcasm. You want more ? Look at stats about steam achievements (http://steamcommunity.com/stats/333930/achievements/). 1.6% of players reached lvl10 ! which means that only 96 players reached that lvl ! The other 5900 stop play this game before this lvl. And my math is generous as i take the peak players and not the average players…

I already paid about 150€ on this free to play game. FREE TO PLAY ! So excuse me but i think my voice, and other’s players voices must count. We will pay more on this FREE game if devs stop screw us. Listen to the community. And more people will play it and buy for in-game stuffs.

To finish this post (damn this is long :O), i really think this game will never get out of its beta state. Because Overwatch is now out and completely steal the show. I loved Dirty Bomb because this was the first Hero-shooter that i ever known. But Blizzard seems to have made a better product of this game type. So please ! Dear SD and Nexon, listen to us or your game will die.

3/84 people (who voted) genuinely like this system. Does that tell you something, Splash Damage?

I have recycled all my leads and bronzes, and some other cards I deem useless. Not going to use those fragments unless they fix it. They are literally SO MANY WAYS to fix it, which have already been suggested. We still haven’t heard word that they have been taking our suggestions or anything of that sort.

Well it’s the weekend for them, so I assume tomorrow we might hear something if we hear anything at all.
