What do you think about Rambo Medics ?

Look at q2 or other games.

People like flaws in engine if they can benefit from them. Double jumps and ramp jumps are “soooo cool” look insultingly stupid - you jump higher if you’re running UP the hill. For some reason crates and boxes work like launching pads. Anyone who has seen hyperblaster2grenade launcher JUMP (no rockets etc) on q2dm1 knows what am I talking about. Nevermind the map was designed to limit access to certain items and areas. Not to mention “speed jumps” gayness.

People will always say every benefitial flaw in a game is a feature. No one tried to defend sinking wall/invisible flamethrower bugs in ET, ONLY because they are very rare and ultimately insignifficant. No big deal. But we do see people defending stupid trickplants like those on oasis - antitank guns. People would try to plant at Gun Controls on Battery (stacking, from the beach) if it wasn’t protected by invisible wall.

People try to abuse every flaw in the game, but it doesn’t make me think they are cool, let alone more skilled.

Sorry, I don’t understand what you’re saying. Were you talking to me? If so, my response is this:

I will quite happily sacrifice myself if I think that this will help my team to win. That’s my choice. I will also try my damnedest NOT to kill another teammate, even if I think that might result in a win for the team. Again, that’s my choice. In my view minimising friendly fire losses makes for a greater challenge: in a real war people should not be expendable (although I accept that in truth, sadly, they probably are). I also accept that this is a game, and that “blobs of pixels” don’t really matter in the grand scheme.

If our opinions differ, this does not make either of us “right” or “wrong”.

yea, i am in 100% agreeance that medics should NOT go rambo style… in real life, medics stay under the cover of other soldiers who fight for them, while they do what they can to help out the injured. i feel it should be this way in the game as well.

i had thought of a similar alternative, by giving the medic a crappier gun. yea, the medic does only get a smg, but he gets a tomson or mp40, those are both rather nice guns, and back during WWII, the standard issued gun was probably more commonly the m1garand… but i really am not sure. anyway, my point is that i commonly see medics not doing their jobs… and being a player other than a medic, it would be nice to see a medic doing their job for a change.

This is quite simply NOT true. A number of flamer exploites were quite damaging (sub is the one I remember) and were banned from competion play, and subsequently fixed in the code (thanks bani :D)

  • The grenade spam exploit was fixed.
  • The lieutenants-with-heavyweapons bug was fixed.
  • The run-around-with-a-scoped mauser exploit was fixed.

No one that I am aware of EVER claimed these were legitimate features of the game.

Multi player (more than 2) stacking was banned from league play, for no better reason than that it is lame.

The see through the wall spot on MP_BASE was not fixed, but was banned from league play in the US at least.

The arty strikes in the sky on assault certainly seems like exploit, but has not been banned. I suspect this is because striking in legitimate places is much more effective.

The fact is that TK/revive has been used in RTCW since test1. If they thought it was an exploit, it could have been fixed in a number of ways. Unlike many of the exploits mentioned above, it wasn’t. So, IMHO, it isn’t.
