What do you like more so far, RTCW or ET?

(boeserjavamann) #1

I know, this is a pretty unfair question because of the early state of ET. But right now, i’ve got the feeling, that I actually do like ET a little more (u need to forget 'bout the bugs and voices). i’m just talking about the athmosphere and the concept.
i played rtcw when it came out in single player, tried the multiplayer-part a couple of weeks ago for the first time, so i don’t tend to feel sentimental when i see rtcw multiplay (e.g. “se enemie is weekend” snief).

maybe the question should be more like

“Do you think ET will be better than RTCW?”

IMO Rtcw and ET are 2 different games. Rtcw is fast and furious, and ET is more slow and has more options. I think both will co-exsist next to eachother. I like both. I see them as 2 completely different games.

In answer to the Poll question “What do you like more so far, RTCW or ET?” I’d have to say E.T., although I’m starting to get a little bored of FuelDump and can’t wait for the remaining maps.

In answer to the question “Do you think ET will be better than RTCW?”, which is a completely different question from the Poll, that’s pretty difficult to say. For a start, define “better”. If you mean “more popular” then I’d have to say probably not. :frowning:

Simple fact is, most on-line gamers are clanned (it might only be a 60/40 split but still clanned players are the majority), and I don’t see E.T. being playable as a Clan game. The maps will probably be too big, and the XP system sucks for competitive play.

I see E.T. taking the “Market Garden / Custom map / 32-64 player server” market, and maybe bringing in ex-BF1942 and MOH:AA players, but in 6 months time I’d expect there still to be maybe twice as many players on RTCW servers compared to E.T. (which is the case at the moment, especially on week nights when Clan games are being played).

I see that as a real shame, because being FREE it should have been the biggest on-line game EVER.

hm, i think the “being-free”-factor will be a very important one.

i’ll bet, that in 2 month, ET will be on a position better on the gamyspy-stats (www.gamespy.com/stats) than rtcw, which ranks normally at 10-12.

it’ll enter the top 5! MUHAHAHAA! :fiesta:

I am a great fan of RTCW and think its a great game but having played ET for while i am starting to like ET a lot more and im sure when the final release comes out im gonna like it even more.

I’m sure E.T. will be very popular, certainly with the non-clanned, non-standard Market Garden / Custom map types. But as I’ve argued in another thread, unless it’s adopted by Clans, which I can’t see happening, there won’t be anything like as many servers hosting E.T. or as many players playing it.

Seeing as I’m not clanned anymore, I’ll probably play more E.T. than anything else, but I expect to still be in a minority comapred to the wider RTCW community once the final version is out and everyone’s got over the initial euphoria of playing the new maps.

I am not a clanner and have never joined any clan since the entire release of RTCW demo and full and i know a few others who are the same, but while playing ET i have noticed ppl creating new clans the same way i noticed clans being created on RTCW in the beginning.

I know of quite a few clans who are gonna move over to ET as well as continue playing RTCW. My main point is that after some time your gonna see many new clans spawning in ET just has they did in RTCW.

Yes it is a test but I still like it more than RTCW. I can’t understand people who do nothing but complain how it isn’t RTCW. RTCW is not going anywhere, you don’t like ET, stick to it instead.

I liked RtCW but ET is my new love, thats for sure

The XP system promotes team play, a FieldOps who is tossing out ammo to keep his team supplied will level up faster than a FieldOps who is constantly ordering arty strikes and has no ammo left for his comrades.

The constuctable elements and the landmines greatly increases the value of the engineer and the joy of playing that class.

The new CovOps class is really great and offer a lot more opportunities of how to overcome the enemy.

Good Job, SD !
