what do the coloured numbers in the ping mean?

(Cyber-Knight) #1

well, the ping numbers are usually in greeen in the master server, but they are sometimes yellow and red. I’m gonna assume they mean bad, but what do they mean exactly?

cuz I’ve seen some servers give me a ping of <100, but are in yellow or red. I"ve seen a yellow 30 before too. so what does that mean?

Good question. In the later versions of RtCW I believe they colored the ping value to tell you if it was a PB-enabled server, but they now just have the flags listed for some of the discriminators.

Its for illiterate people

Red = Bad PIng

Yellow = So - So ping

Green = Good ping

(Cyber-Knight) #4

so why the heck did my ping of 30 show up in yellow for a few servers?

i’ve seen a few pings in the 70’s show up in red, but a ping in 300 show in green.

CPU load.

(duke'ku) #6

yellow = antilag is disabled

(SCDS_reyalP) #7

That is true RTCW. In ET, antilag has it’s own icon.

I suspect that the colors have something to do with server load or packet loss. It would be nice to have official word though.

Is this explained in the manual somewhere? As in, what do the different colors mean in relation to eachother?

I assume green == good…

Green/yellow/red seems fairly self explanatory, but I’ve often wondered what grey means. Is that if the master doesn’t know?

(Cyber-Knight) #12

what the heck is CPU load?

(duke'ku) #13

what percent of the cpu the server is using. the lower the better.

(Agrado) #14

What I’d like to know is what does it mean when the ping is listed as “1”? I sort by ping and I always have the top 30-40 servers listed as ping “1”. Does that mean “very good, too quick to measure accurately” or does it mean “no idea what the ping was”, or what?

(Azarael) #15

I suspect the “1” pings are a shorcoming of the ping system. I always used to get them in Napster and they usually didn’t give you a good download. My guess is that it’s the default value or something when the ping doesn’t work right.

Back to original question
I think it is the fluctuation,…
so u have a good ping but if u meet other players the ping gets high to the sky,… hehe
So it is something of ServerCPU and/or something with the packetlosses
