What causes some players failed map change then grey/sky

On my Dual Xeon 2GHz server very often many of the players do not make it thru the map change and must type /reconnect before it will work again. I had it happen to me many times and what happens is at the end of a map you see “server restarting” suddenly, then respawn underground or in the sky on the same map you were just playing, while others go on to the next map as expected. Many people call this the “grey screen effect” because of the blank void outside the map, but you can look around or in the distance and see parts of the map, and the limbo menu will still have the topview map of the previous map but the objectives drawn in random wrong spots for the map the server is supposed to be on.

This never happened on my other server which was only a single P4 1.7GHz but mostly otherwise the same machine and same network. (we still got random occasional crashes/freezes that the upcoming patch is supposed to fix, but nothing like this)

Does ET simply not support dual CPUs or is this a bug? The machine actually reports 4 CPUs (as it should) because of hyperthreading.
