What aspects of gameplay should mods for ET change?

Another poll.
Actually I wanted to make this one more detailed.
But only polls with 10 entries can be created.

I like the gameplay of ET as it is.
The class system combined with the objective game mode makes ET (and RTCW unique).
I can’t think of aspects that could have been done better.
For me ET is the most perfect game.

for me id like to see some more gamemodes so every map is not a 30 min drawn out battle

a lota new objective could be made with just new maps but they just dont get the same quality feel as the ones SD make

and also i would like to see the soldiers kit re fitted so it doesnt suck so much. imo at the moment medics are the class you dont want to get into a fight with cos you know u have a lot less chance of winning. it should be soldiers so there is some insentive to be one

I think most of the mods are too serieus, why not make something like wegein mod, just have a good laugh and loads of fun.

Give medics K43/Garand with no scope and no grenade launcher. Would serve them right.
Improve flamethrower. I mean, you sacrifice a lot of mobility and range, and don’t really get anything back. Even if used in ambush. Any weapon works for ambush. I say, make it really hard to aim while on fire (obscured vision or something) and impossible to pickup medikits.
Remove xp bonus for picking up enemy uniforms. Usually uniform has hardly any effect on enemy. Even more, covert ops usually waste a lot of time picking them up - they could be supporting their team instead. And often get killed when while disguising. To compensate, you could make some tweaks. For example, a stealthy Sten/K43/Pistol/Grenade kill would give more exp than currently. You know, a kill where you preserve your disguise.
Map-specific: a covert op should get a lot of exp (5-7) each time Depot Defences/Fuel Dump is blown BEFORE tank destroyed the wall. Similar for Oasis.
On Gold Rush, engineers should get no exp for destroying TRUCK barriers before the tank is stolen.

Wonder why nobody ever thought of those and made them.
But maybe I will in my new mod =)

EDIT - this wasn’t anything against ET’s gameplay. I love ET. It’s just more fun to change everything possible :slight_smile:

i agree with some of the suggestions made here.

to give the medic a rifle without nade would be a nice idea. maybe give him a mp if he has more xp or something like that.

it would be nice if there was a mobile close range soldier. i mean the weapons the soldier has are real powerfull if used right but maybe some new ones wouldnt hurt here. BAR StG 44 ???

the sniper rifle should make a loud sound i dont like the silenced sniper sound. ohhh and new thompson sound PLZ !!!

a gamemode like in dod or red orchestra would be nice. i know there are several multiple ctf maps out there but some changes to the hud would make those maps easier and more fun to play.
besides that dm and tdm wouldnt hurt anyway. the “problem” is that the ET campaign gamemode is soooo good and funny. i mean, nearly nobody plays lms.
i guess the mod would have best chances if the gamemodes came along with the other changes.

The DoD gamemode can be done by mapscripting.
Drakir has made such a map.
Not sure about the name.
Something with town I guess.

yeah but the flag status is not shown in the hud. this would be a nice feature for a mod.

Now that’s a good idea to balance things out. You wouldn’t even have to stop medics from medpacking themselves.

As far as medics go… I may be wrong - I only played RTCW demo - but it seems ammo is much harder to come by there. I think I read somewhere that ammo/health cabinets were introduced by W:ET.
Now take a look at W:ET …

  • medic gets ammo for Level1 First Aid
  • additional ammo for Level1 Light Weapons (not sure if it stacks because it has been a while since I played medic; in any case there are two separate skill paths to get extra ammo)
  • ammo cabinets
  • skilled field ops can distribute more ammo
  • command posts - If I’m not mistaken, +50% energy regeneration. Field Op spits out ammo even faster.

How about being able to change weapons immediatly after throwing a grenade instead of having to run around like an idiot waiting to get shot. Also on goldrush engineers should get no xp for building the truck barriers until the tank is past the first barrier. Maybe its just me but I always find my team a man down because one of our engineers is building the second truck barrier while the tank is happily rolling down the hill towards the first barrier.

U should have that medics cant pick up any ammo. They get their 30 or 60 bullets and thats it. Then people wouldnt be as keen to go rambo med :bump:

thats a bit harsh i think and realy removes a lot of the teamplay eleament of ET when other classes cant help medics

it might be more fair if medics could not pick up health packs, so they have to get health using there regen. would definatly put them to more of a suport role as they would have to spend more time at the back of the lines charging and healing others

OR perhaps medicsw cant pick up health packs but for every time a players picks up mone of there health packs the medic also recives a 10hp bonus, now that will increase medics teamplay!

I would also like to see a new soldier weapon loadout, i think the soldier should be the front line class doing the majority of the work but the slow move speed and poor weapons makes them more suited for ambush atacks. a skilled player with a mp40 is as effecive as most weapons the soldier have but its alos more versatile, soldiers i find get limited to sertain siuation where there weapons aer effective where mp40 can be used most everywhere. give them a more powerfull smg to give them soemthing to be proud of

^^ i belive there is something similar in POP mod where there are class limitations making most players soldiers or something, but not sure

Actually tried FalckonET?
We’re still working on it, but it goes way further then skinning…

The solder now has a Bar/MP44, which allmost beats the riffle grenades. (Those’ll be reduced though)

I tried it the other day and actually had a lot of fun. I was pretty surprised. It fixes several problems that I had with ET and actually makes the rifles useful and more accurate than SMGs (which they should have been from the start).
Hopefully the mod will catch on and attract more players and server admins. :slight_smile:
