What are your FOV settings?

(Robtastic) #1

After 130+ hours of playing I wonder what FOV settings others use.
Please write the exact amount after vote AND WHICH MERC YOU USE THE MOST. Thx

(Jostabeere) #2

Everything under 90 is pretty much a waste.

The merc…Depends on. Probably Rhino or Phantom. Or aura for cheap-ass massive pointstreaks. I once got 1896 Health Insurance off a teammate Rhino.

(Szakalot) #3

you must have a gigantic screen!

I usually play 80, but sometimes switch to 75, more than enough to track people in close quarters, and enemies at range arent cheese sticks.

(Robtastic) #4

@Jostabeere
Okay thanks and your favorite merc?

(Faraleth) #5

^ This.

EDIT: I like Sporks.

(Captain_Forward) #6

No reason to have a tonnel vision.
I don’t have fave merc, but I mostly use Kira for now.

  1. DB uses vertical fov, which equates to about 105 in horizontal fov (ie. quake3/ET/RtCW)

(Izzy) #8

I rarely do “in between”. fov to the max, mouse sensi to the max.

My main merc? Take the hint from the profile picture maybe ?

(HonourBound) #9

I am the 1%…

(SiegeFace) #10

I may be playing on a TV but I am certainly not playing on console, I have no idea why PC only games, and even PC Ports default to like 10 fov. 90 and above is where it is at.

And I try to use all mercs equally, still trying to find my “dream team” as I cannot seem to settle on just 3 mercs, My playstyle changes daily and is based on the map I am playing and whatever I feel like playing.

(tominatorx) #11

I usually don’t play games with an FOV lower than 90. The merc I use the most is Sawbonez.

(blisteringOwlNest) #12

I have a bit of a problem seeing people at range, especially heads, so I have a lower FOV. I used to play FOV maxed out but I found playing lower helped me out.

(HunterAssassin5) #13

i used to roll with max fov, but when i started using the timik over the shotgun, and when the orange-y-red-ish outline of enemies just blended in with the brick walls in one too many matches on trainyard, i cranked it down to 75.

(Naralin) #14

Same here! I don’t even know what is the actual standard value.

(SpectraBlitz) #15

Max. Can’t play otherwise since my eyes are slowly failing, so anything smaller than max appears warped and bulged outwards to me.
Favourite Merc is Redeye ofc.

(hippie) #16

my screen is pretty small soo…

I used to play Quake and UT with 120. Everything below 90 is like playing a horse with blinkers imo.
It’s like pathetic CoD with its cute 65 fov.

(LifeupOmega) #18

If we go by stats Proxy, but that’s only because she used to be the only engineer. Fletcher or Stoker though nowadays.

I play with standard 90.

(Runeforce) #19

true dat. In good ol’ horizontal, I prefered 90-105 (depending on my screens). In DB I use the standard settings.

Perhaps in this vote, but in reality you are the largest group.

(Amerika) #20

I use 72 for the same reason. Most people think of a Q3 engine game (everything from q3 to ET to CoD titles) or CS when they think of FoV settings but those games all use horizontal FoV settings which aren’t the same as the vertical FoV settings that Dirty Bomb uses. So if you’re using a similar FoV value to those games in DB you’re playing in a fishbowl which heavily influences the game. It makes ranged combat much more difficult.

So the “standard 90” in DB isn’t the standard 90 in almost every game. It’s, assuming this calculator is correct, actually 121 FoV if you’re using 90. So you’re starting to approach fishbowl territory. Some people might like this as it makes the game feel faster but I don’t find it useful or wanted personally as it screws up accuracy at quite a few ranges and doesn’t help in CQC IMO either. http://www.rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfbc2/fovcalculator.php
